Brand New – Handcuffs Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think this song is about accusal, and accusing people of things before knowing the whole story. And the lines about "it's hard to be the better man" is like saying you have to keep your cool and prove your innocence, rather than lash out in a way that will only perpetuate people's judgments and assumptions that you are guilty of a crime. It's like the song is saying, "I know you committed this crime because I would commit this crime if I knew I wouldn't get caught, and you didn't think you'd get caught, which is why you did it." If this makes sense. |
Silversun Pickups – Surrounded (Or Spiraling) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
like substitution, i think this song is about suicide. i know the album was written during a rough period when suicide was contemplated/attempted, i don't remember the details.. thats why it took like 2 years to be released. it has to do with how things used to be.. like, remember when i took care of you, and watched over you (verse 1), and now do you remember when things with me went from good to drastically bad ("remember when my joking turned grim," verse 2, etc)? and do you remember how we thought we could stop it, that we were bigger than it and could control it? the chorus has to deal with making the good times seem vastly better than they really were, and the second line is the complete opposite - demonizing injuries is making things seem exponentially worse than they actually are. "is it perfect in our little hell?..." refers to how its being dealt with and whether or not the support needed is actually being provided. also, "spiraling" is a psychology term referred to a complete downward spiral where one starts seeing things as being continuously negative and never getting better. it precedes suicide. just my input, but i know a lot of the album is based around suicide and it just seems to fit. |
Silversun Pickups – Substitution Lyrics | 15 years ago |
it's not about a relationship, sspu are too complex to write a song like this about something as mundane as a failed relationship. it's about suicide. the vulture perching right offscreen is the voices telling you to hurt youself. you're the marionette and the twisting strings, again, are the voices. you don't think you'll ever recover from it, and no one understands why you want to hurt yourself so they tell you to ignore them or fight them or whatever they tell you. "when reactions turn into hurricanes" is when it becomes bigger than everyone involved and the severity of the situation is realized. makes sense to me. |
Robert Pattinson – Never Think Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think maybe it describes the feeling of New Moon more than Twilight.. but still I see your reasoning. And I agree- he has a lovely voice, and really is very talented. |
Robert Pattinson – Never Think Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song makes me cry. He has an amazing voice. And the song does describe Bella and Edward, perfectly. I remember Robert doing an interview and saying it was his dream to be a pianist.. clearly he can sing and play guitar, too. Amazing. |
Say Anything – Vexed Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I kind of feel like this song is about a really conceited whore. "You're not my Jesus Christ" - one of the best lines ever. |
Say Anything – Have at Thee! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's about how after you get out of a relationship sometimes you can't stand that person anymore - "She made me want to take the blade to my skin." She can't let him down again because they aren't together anymore. It also seems like he's talking about how superficial she is and how she'll do whatever is "cool" or whatever. She's a "false christ" or "false god" because either a. he looked at her as this amazing person and she turned out to be completely material and conceited or b. she looks at herself as amazing, making her a flase christ/god There's probably a deeper meaning but this is just what it seems to be about when you just listen to the song or read the lyrics. |
Say Anything – Sorry, Dudes. My Bad. (feat. Chris Conley) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i love the breakdown of this song, especially the line "forever yours i am, like the ocean to the sand." after listening to the whole cd through, this song stuck out the most to me. i still can't figure out that one line but it cracks me up every time hahah. |
Say Anything – Died a Jew Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I really don't know what this is about, but I love the line "like judas the traitor, we are both favored and deeply flawed." |
Say Anything – Spay Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's about the beginning of the end of his relationship with his (ex?)girlfriend. |
Say Anything – Surgically Removing the Tracking Device (feat. Adam Lazzara & Fred Mascherino) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it's about drug/alcohol addiction/abuse and how he's using it to try and solve his problems, i think. i really love this song. |
This Providence – Sand In Your Shoes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song is so amazing. i was just about to put the lyrics in haha. i honestly just think this is like the story of two people falling love, or one person falling in love with someone. it sort of sounds like a summer romance story. it's just so beautiful. |
Four Year Strong – catastophe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity" instead of "and this scene.." i love this song and band. |
Cobra Starship – Pop-Punk Is Sooooo '05 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm pretty sure '05 is the year From Under the Cork Tree and A Fever You Can't Sweat Out came out. Meaning that these bands are getting big and popular now when they've really been around for longer. It's kind of the song that sends that message to people who hopped onto the emo/scene bandwagon, in my opinion. |
Faulter – October 16th Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's about a girl and a guy who keep missing eachother when they like each other. Like she likes him, but he doesn't like her at the time, and now he likes her, and she doesn't want him. I think this is like the final straw where she won't give in anymore and she isn't going to like him again. |
Cobra Starship – Guilty Pleasure Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"you're takin'", not "you're taken." haha whoops. and i didn't realize how long that was. |
Cobra Starship – Guilty Pleasure Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"And I don't even know what kind of boy you're taken me for" "Oh but they spent us all" "And I dont even read what the papers gotta say about me Oh no, I can't believe they'd take it so serious, seriously I'm so bored, please, dont talk anymore" "And maybe someday I'll believe (Maybe someday I'll believe) That we are all a part of some bigger plan Tonight I just don't give a damn (So shut your mouth it's time to dance) If the world is ending, I'm throwing the party" i've listened to it like a billion times already hahah so those are my corrections, i think they are right but who knows, that's just how they sound to me. also, I think it is "I don't care if I'm a guilty pleasure for you" like the person above me. it makes more sense, in my opinion.. as far as meaning is concerned, I think it's about the fans. he does it to make us dance and have fun, it's not about making money or getting famous, but it works out for us because they are our "guilty pleasure." Although, if it is "i don't care about my guilty pleasure for you," it would make sense because it would be like we, the fans, are their guilty pleasure, because they are getting more fame as their fanbase grows. Either way, it's all about them being true to themselves and their fans while they are doing this, it's not about the fame or the money or "selling out" for either, hence why he doesn't "even read what the papers gotta say about me." idk, just my take. |
Four Year Strong – catastophe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i feel like this is about a few things.. probably about a girl who screwed things up.. and then he is trying to get back at her, hence "spread you like a disease." he thinks this girl is really full of herself- "i'm making a list of all your so-called 'big plans'" and he wants her to prove to him that she can just leave him/everything for these "plans." i think he also thinks that because she screwed up she needs to prove to him that she's changed.. "give me a reason just to see things through until the end because i'm on to you." that's confusing. just my take. |
Forever the Sickest Kids – Breakdown Lyrics | 16 years ago |
omggggg i hate when i screw up. "you're looking at me lying if i said i wasn't getting quite bored of you yet and your consistent nagging and your constant state of panic is unnecessary stress for me" |
Forever the Sickest Kids – Breakdown Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"you're looking at me lying if i said i wasn't getting quite bored of you yet and you're consistent nagging and your constant state of panic is unnecessary panic for me" word. anyway. this song i think is about these two people being in a relationship that has basically fallen apart.. they don't talk anymore, and it's bad enough to the point where it's like "so when was the last time you talked to me?" he just doesn't want her to think that they still have a relationship because they fell apart so badly that the words of breaking up don't even need to be spoken. |
Four Year Strong – catastophe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think it's "to spread you like a disease" not "to spread your legs and to say." |
Forever the Sickest Kids – I Don't Know About You, But I Came to Dance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"i'm smoother the words, you're smoother the curves, girl." he's great with words and she has a great body. the end. |
All Time Low – Vegas Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think this is all about the band/touring scene and how much they love it and are so glad they can do it and like all the memories and such. although im not sure about the "i would've married you in vegas.." part. |
All Time Low – Six Feet Under the Stars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
YES THEY FINALLY PUT EDITING BACK UP. dear "ashleyevidence," those weren't my lyrics. someone decided to post what THEY thought were the right ones on the corrections thread. i was actually really pissed cause my lyrics were the correct ones, hence me saying "so i'm sticking by my original transcription of those parts." (the parts that were "fixed") in a previous comment. |
The Rocket Summer – Colors Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think "colors" refers to the seasons and scenery and stuff.. haha i'm so politically correct. and yeah, i agree with everyone. i think it's just about being in love with his wife and just knowing that this is right, in the good times and the bad, they are meant to be with each other. i think it means they can make it through anything too, no matter how hard it is. |
All Time Low – Six Feet Under the Stars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
also i think it could be "but i'm warm enough" instead of "i'm warming up." and i still think it's "and i think myself deserving of" instead of "and i feel myself deserving of." so i'm sticking by my original transcription of those parts. |
All Time Low – Six Feet Under the Stars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i still don't think it's "kick it, hang for hours"; it sounds more like "kick it here for hours." and it makes more sense to me. and it kind of sounds like a mixture of things, knowing alex it could be about another married woman or a stripper. so hey, really, the sky's the limit on this song. but i think the situation is like he is pretty much digging his own grave- he wants to impress this girl and keep her around, and then theres the whole underage drinking thing with the i.d. and how it's embarrassing because he's trying to dress the part but it's too much effort. so he's kind of setting himself up for a letdown but he wants her to be with him for the ride. idk, just my take. |
All Time Low – Six Feet Under the Stars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
god you people comment fast, i had no idea what it was, that was the closest i could think.. i even looked up a map of downtown baltimore around south broadway, hah, i was going insane. however, i do still think it's "because the tension's like a fire." but who knows. :D |
All Time Low – Coffee Shop Soundtrack Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i love that interview with alex and jack, and i think it's hilarious that she thinks he's joking when he explains this song. |
Cartel – Wasted Lyrics | 17 years ago |
..In addition to the third set of stanzas, in the third stanza, I think he means it would have been nice for his dad to have not included his mom in his wasted life. I don't think that he wasted his life, because he is doing what he wants and even though it can be difficult and lonely at times he is satisfied with it. |
Cartel – Wasted Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think I have an idea what this song means. But first, the missing lyrics where the question mark is- You're seven years old, Got his bat in his hand He's looking for his father And he doesn't understand In general, I think this song is about wasted lives. For the first verse, aka the first three stanzas here, I think they are stories. The first one about a boy in the hospital, his mom with him, at 2:45 in the morning, and he dies so his dad is called "in the middle of the night." The second stanza would be about a 16 year old who gets in a fatal accident, wrecking his body and the car. The third would then be a man with visceral cancer (a cancer of the soft organs mainly in the abdomen) which he probably never realized he had and then it came on him too fast and killed him in a day. Those lives were wasted, these people died young and unfairly. The second set of stanzas I think follows one boy- his dad was always too busy to play with him, his parents wanted their dreams and ideas to be his life, and he doesn't want that at all so when he leaves he just doesn't care about them because they didn't care about what he wanted. Then he gets married and has kids, but he never wanted them either, he based his life on what most people did instead of what he wanted. Those three stanzas sort of show how his life can be seen as wasteful because he never wanted the life he was in. If he had followed what he really wanted he would have been happier. I think the third set of stanzas are about the son of the person in the second set of stanzas. The first stanza is the present with the second stanza reflecting his past, and the third him thinking about his future. In the second stanza he is not sure whether following his dreams is going to lead him in the right place, or if that place will exist at all. But, he wants to get out because his dad doesn't care about him. In the first stanza everything is busy and he feels alone, but "Got his life in his hands," so it looks like him following what he wanted was the right thing to do. The third stanza reflects how similar he thinks he is to his dad when he was those ages. He doesn't want to be miserable like his dad was or regret things he did or didn't do, and he doesn't want his life to have been based on principle and what people usually do. He "has a clue" because he knows what he is going to do and he wish his father would have done the same thing, because "She would never be alone in this wasted life." His dad either wasted his mom's life because he never wanted her to begin with, or she would not have been included in his dad's wasted life if he had done what his heart/gut told him to do. Hence the chorus "We're wasted, no, no, no, we're all wasted." These lives were wasted by something natural, other people, or themselves, and someone is finally trying to change it so he doesn't waste his life. Sorry that was so long, and I hope it at least made some sense. I absolutely love this song. It's amazing, and I really like listening to the verses and just thinking about it all. |
Tyler Read – All You Need Is Love, But Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the lyrics weren't anywhere else so i did my best to figure out what they were by ear. and i'd fix it, but the website won't let me make edits. |
Fall Out Boy – Thriller Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i was thinking "but by fall we were a cover story, 'now in stores'" could have been a reference to them being on the cover of Spin magazine in November. haha maybe i just think too simply. |
Fall Out Boy – G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
shrodes - to answer your proof question about it being called True Blue, i have a clip of True Blue, about a minute and a half long, and it is G.I.N.A.S.F.S. so you are correct. |
Fall Out Boy – Hum Hallelujah Lyrics | 17 years ago |
lolzitsmtss - no they aren't. buy the album? you get a lyric booklet. :) |
Fall Out Boy – Thriller Lyrics | 17 years ago |
dear softlyforsalvation, i got the album the day it came out, sorry i didn't have enough time to get around to correcting the lyrics. iah you didn't need to correct them. not trying to come off as hostile, just saying. |
Fall Out Boy – The Take Over, the Breaks Over Lyrics | 17 years ago |
lmao. *you get my point not book. it's 3:13 am, i have horrible sleep patterns and obviously it has gotten to me. |
Fall Out Boy – The Take Over, the Breaks Over Lyrics | 17 years ago |
lostfanatic84 - i can see where the other person who said that is coming from. "flash flash flash photography" panic lyrics are almost exactly taking out of invisible monsters, if you've read them out of the booklet. "flash give me envy flash give me malice flash give me attention." actually i don't remember where the flashes go. but whatever, you get my book. the point is, the whole flash thing reminded me of invisible monsters. i also feel the chuck p./panic! vibe in "wouldn't you rather be a widow than a divorcee? style your way through fashion magazines" so i can see where the other person is coming from one, even though you may not. |
Fall Out Boy – I've Got All This Ringing in My Ears and None on My Fingers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah, you put the title in right shrodes, haha i was just answering the first commenter's question about the song title. this song is absolutely amazing. |
Fall Out Boy – Hum Hallelujah Lyrics | 17 years ago |
rust3dxh3art - i actually agree with what you hear after listening to it. and i think it is "vow in a parking lot" so i'll change that too. this song is so amazing. |
Fall Out Boy – The (After) Life of the Party Lyrics | 17 years ago |
loversandliars - I was wondering the same thing. I think the song is kind of a reflection of everything- relationships, getting famous, people thinking they've "sold out" (in reference to the line "put love on hold, young hollywood is on the other line"), and just Wentz's mental health in general. Pretty strong song. |
Fall Out Boy – I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me and You) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Instead of "only proof of loneliness," it's "bulletproof and loneliness." Also, "Me and you, setting in a honeymoon", not sitting. And I agree with you, wendyclear-atticus. It's gotta be about a past Wentz relationship, maybe even about Jeanae (shocker!). Haha. I also agree with you on how he feels about his current status, relationshipwise. I also like your idea with the "the bast way to make it through.." line. I never interpreted it that way before. |
Fall Out Boy – I've Got All This Ringing in My Ears and None on My Fingers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The people who gave you corrections before me are how I hear the song as well. Also my song title says none, not one. Which makes sense since he's not married or engaged or anything. Haha I love the end too. Now which one thought of it..? haha. |
Fall Out Boy – You're Crashing, but You're No Wave Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Guest vocalist is Butch Walker, supposedly. Pretty obvious what the song is about, generally. "And everyone's looking for relief, United States versus disbelief" That's about people trying to get out of jury duty. "He glances at his peers sitting seven to twelve, Stacked on one to six- The gallery is hushed." The defendant probably seeing the jury members - seven to twelve sit in the back row, therefore "stacked on" one to six. And they're all quiet. "And everyone's looking for relief A bidding war for an old friend's grief The call for kid, the cosmic charm" First line is about jury duty again. "A bidding war for an old friend's grief, The call for the kid, the cosmic charm" could be either using a friend who might be sick or soemthing to get out of jury duty and then putting on the charm to make people believe, or something totally unrelated to jury duty. And that's as much as I feel like analyzing. Haha. I dunno, that's just what I get out of it. |
Fall Out Boy – Bang the Doldrums Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Obviously about Jeanae and their on-again off-again relationship. "I couldn't bring myself to call, except to call it quits." I don't think he ever felt good enough for her. He was always posting journals about wanting to call back home (probably her) but it being too late at night and people (she) might be asleep. So the only time he could ever "call" her is metaphorical, since they called it quits. "The tombstones were waiting, they were half engraved." This reflects the starting point of their relationship (probably the most recent). "They knew it was over, just didn't know the date." The relationship was over before the two decided to call it quits. "I cast a spell over the West to make you think of me the same way I think of you." That's pretty easy to understand. He finally made her feel the same way he felt about her, one way or another. "Best friends, ex-friends to the end. Better off as lovers, not the other way around." Those two are best friends, and they went through rough times, probably points where they were 'ex-friends'. He finds they're better off as lovers, or best friends, not as ex-friends (to the end). Well that was analyzed a lot. Haha. That's just what I got out of it. (: |
Fall Out Boy – Don't You Know Who I Think I Am? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think the last two lines are actually "broken down on memory lane, alone together, we're alone." i love this song. it reminds me of "sophomore slump.." with "we're well read and poised, we're the best boys" vs. this song and "we only want to sing you to sleep in your bedroom speakers". the two songs almost walk hand in hand. |
Fall Out Boy – Hum Hallelujah Lyrics | 17 years ago |
haha after i submitted these lyrics i started hearing everything how it was supposed to, but the lyrics were pending so i couldn't change them. and yes, i think the song is not only a tribute to leonard cohen, but also about pete's overdose. "i thought i loved you, it was just how you looked in the light" maybe he saw the pills and thought it was his way out, hence loving them, but afterwards realized it was just the way everything looked at the time, and how it could have been an escape. "teenage love in a parking lot" since he od'd in the parking lot. and i can't tell if it's "love" or "vow", so obviously vow could add to this more. "i sing the blues and swallow them too" i think this line is like he is swallowing his fears and anxiety away. "sometimes we take chances, sometimes we take pills." self-explanitory. haha. yeah. that's just how i see it. (: |
Fall Out Boy – You're a Concrete Boy Now (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
LOL being an OCK doesn't mean shit. to make this meaning relevant.. i think the song's pretty much a literal translation. that's how it seems to me. kdone. |
Tyler Read – Happy New Year Lyrics | 17 years ago |
just a few edits, I think these are the lyrics: In passing glances Take that look up off your pretty face An evening A midnight chance encounter I hope you think about her until the daylight breaks into your skin Happy new year We made our resolutions and sentiments to last us while we're here Happy new year And you will always bring this on your- In meeting Remember these completions Sentences, phrases, meanings Too close to, Too close to mine You said all the obvious things but that You speak so sincerely about it Happy new year We made our resolutions and sentiments to last us while we're here Happy new year And you will always bring this on your, Bring this on your- I hope you find it in you to remain civil Beautiful but bandaged and you're scarred but sterilized When your eyes fall from here, And you will see everything Happy new year We made our resolutions and sentiments to last us while we're here Happy new year And you will always bring this on your, Bring this on yourself I think the song is about New Years Eve, obv, and it's about a boy who knows a girl, and he wants to go up to her and talk to her but he doesn't have it in himself, so he's thinking about her constantly or "until the daylight breaks into [his] skin". She might have been in a bad past relationship and that's why she's "beautiful but bandaged" and "scarred but sterilized", so shes seeing everything else she never noticed before. Or it might just be a new years song. (; |
Boys Like Girls – Learning To Fall Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Unrequited is the word that goes in the second area of question marks. I'm not sure about the first one, but it almost sounds like "You're sulking till it hurts me". -shrugs- |
