Great song. I like it. What it reminds me of is ... Law and Order. We're entertained by crime ... that seems wrong somehow. But I do think it's mainly about news and maybe the OJ Simpson trial - I was four years old, too young to remember.
It makes me laugh when Geddy says, "Gangster." It sounds like he's saying "gangsta," and I'm like ... Geddy, you're fifty. You can't say gangsta. hahaha. |

Similarities exist in everyone, be they of different race or of the opposite sex. There is more to everyone than their race, religion, sex, or culture. I also get the impression that when he says, "Sex is not a job description," perhaps he is referring to traditional views of a woman's place -- she does not have to be in the home, being a mother/housewife just because she is female, thus, "sex is not a job description." And that's my two cents. |

It could sound like a song about suicide if you manipulate it properly, but I think it's just a song about personal decisions and confusion. A friend of mine swears on his life that "the razor's edge" is a reference to a book about a man finding himself in Buddhism. |
