Rise Against – Collapse (Post-Amerika) Lyrics 15 years ago
"Neutrality means that you don’t really care
Cuz the struggle goes on whether or not you’re there
Blind and unaware"

Powerful words in one of the best environmentalist anthems in recent memory. Message from Rise Against: The world is going to shit, so you better figure out where you stand and do something about it.

The Killers – Human Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the enunciation of the chorus would be different if the word was "denser." If you listen carefully, Brandon is singing a higher pitched "annn," not a lower "ehhh" that would exist if the word was "dense" instead of "dance." There's probably a more technical way to describe that, but I'm not a music expert.

I think lostfanatic84 makes a very good point, too.

Goldfinger – Handjobs for Jesus Lyrics 16 years ago
Mink4i, if this is the most insulting song you've ever heard, you obviously haven't listened to a lot of punk rock. I doubt Goldfinger's goal with this song was to change anyone's personal beliefs. Rather, I think they offer it as more of a manifesto of their atheist views, and lighted the mood by poking fun at Christianity (particularly in the second part of the song).

Hey, if art isn't controversial, it isn't worth paying attention to.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – This List Lyrics 16 years ago
I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics the first time I heard this song. The second time around, I immediately realized it was about the Iraq war. "This list" is obviously the growing list of American dead from the war, and "get 'em out" refers to finally getting the troops out. An incredibly powerful anti-war song from a band that has largely been non-political.

Reel Big Fish – So Much for Rock and Roll Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's kinda obvious what this song is about.

Basically, this guy is a huge fan of some rockstar, and loves everything about his music. Then, on the way to see the band in concert, the rockstar suddenly pulls up next him and his girlfriend in a limo. The stingy rockstar refuses to shake the guy's hand, but has no problem taking his girlfriend away in his limo, leaving the guy standing there broken hearted.

Makes me wonder if this actually happened to Aaron, or if it's just a "hypothetical" situation. In any case, great song by an awesome band.

NOFX – Leaving Jesusland (7" Version) Lyrics 18 years ago
I think besides Christians, this song is also about Blue vs. Red states in the U.S. (Red being "Jesusland" - for the right-wing Christians). It's also funny how Fat Mike sings about taking out the Conservative stongholds in a largely blue California.

NOFX – The Man I Killed Lyrics 18 years ago
I think the fact that half the song is done like a country song (besides being humorous) relates even more to the subject of killing the Texan president.
