I agree with Juzzeth, this song didn't mean anything when he wrote it. It has a good sound and it flows, but as for meaning, there isn't one. And Silverchair rocks!!! |

To me this song is about him and his girlfriend. He cheated on her (I was out shopping for a doll,
To say the least, I thought I've seen them all
But then you took me by surprise), and she found out, now she left him. Also, maybe she was a virgin or she was prude because he says he never "knew her dreamy eyes." He never had a chance to make love to her and he wishes he hadn't messed things up with her. Even if you break up with a girl because you cheated on her, it still hurts. Unless you are a sociopath with no emotions or feelings, all breakups hurt. And so he keeps repeating to himself that everything will be alright. So, in that regard, this song is optimistic. He's expressing that things are bad now, but they will get better and it will be okay. It's a really cool song.
My favorite line is "I'm dreaming bout those dreamy eyes I never knew. I never knew....But it's alright...." |

I love this song by Don Henley, never knew the meaning till now. It's true the media loves to cover tragedies, because people are sick and twisted and that is what they want to see. If it's too hardcore for you, than watch the damn weather channel. |

I agree with you StarGazer, how he was left alone for so long without anyone checking on him is beyond me. Layne was the best singer ever and it's sad that he died the way that he did. This song is awesome, in fact every AIC song that I have heard is at least pretty good, if not great. I give the rest of the band all the credit in the world for making such awesome music, but Layne's voice really set off the music in a way that no one else could. |
