Yes it seems very simple, that the ideal life that she used to think she'd live-fall in love, move in together, marry, have kids-is fractured by the distance.
I think she feels very disconnected to the possibility of having a family and a solid relationship by her chaotic lifestyle, but she can't quite leave her career yet. |

I had a thought when I was watching the video and an interview with the band, Chris was talking about how hard it was to comply with the producer's demands to change their sound, and that it was hard to move on from what they knew and were good at (soft rock) and move on to a more 'hip' pop-rock sound.
Maybe the king is symbolic for the band in their natural element, and the revolutionaries are their producers/people who want them to create a new image. 'Who would ever want to be king' of their own type of sound when you know that when you get that big and 'produced' people will try to change you in order to keep churning out the newest hits and freshest sounds. Anyone else see this? |

I think it's quite obviously just her comparing her lover/boyfriend/man with the moon. This song is about sex, but 'the dirtiest clean' because it's not loveless sex. He may be a moon because they have sex at night, and he sheds light on her then, when they really connect as people, 'illuminating' her.
She talks like she loves the casual, fun and clean sexual relation they have. The end sounds sounds like her running back home from her 'moon lover's' place? |

Kozworth-the version I heard from limewire seems very poor quality, so perhaps they'll clean it up if it's on the album. Even so, I didn't like the song :( it was bland, with an overdone message, if it really is about Iraq...I really hope that Viva la Vida's song aren't all political statements. Where are the calming, exhilarating love songs :(? |

I agree with most of you, it is one of their best, and should have booted off one of the more dull songs off X&Y. This song is so pure and honest...it really captures what it's like (to me) to be so thankful and devoted to a person you're in love with. I always thought it was 'Oh don't take me, baby, grab me.' But I don't think it is...it might be '\oh no take me'... |

Could be about love, but the aloen part in the 5th verse is misleading.
I think it's just the generally feeling of happiness and pure tranquility with yourself.
Airplanes actually give me that feeling, looking out at the clouds, with nothing to do but sit and relax and think. |

I usually twist songs a bit to reflect a personal situation of mine, and so to me it's a guy who still loves a girl that everyone else didn't think was good idea. So he tries to forget about her, but it doesn't work because he sees her too much..and is reminded of how much he loves her-despite how risky their relationship is, and so he tries to ignore her/preoccupy himself to stop his feelings. |

I like to think of it as a woman who loved someone and thought she would be with them forever, but they left her. In her psychotic lonely misery all she thinks about is her past with him and these memories becomes her world (the present). I think she's singing to him how much she really needs her lover still, and that she wants to show him how much it's affected her, and she's reminding him how entirely she loves him as she always did. |
