Son Lux – Weapons Lyrics 14 years ago
This song, especially Weapons V, is incredibly powerful to me.
Something about how I couldn't quite pick out what he was saying until I read this.

Ahhh I just love this song. The "ligaments put on a show" line is my absolute favorite.

This version is the demo for "Oh My" -- it was on their Glassblower EP, I believe.

Mellowdrone – Collect Call Lyrics 14 years ago
Something about this song is just so incredibly satisfying. I don't know if it's the way the song continues to build and build, or Jon's quiet "(one, two, three, four)" but it's just so sad and so relaxing all at the same time.

I love how it ends.

Ulrich Schnauss – Medusa Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it might be "turn them to stone" instead of "tell them to stop"

just in context with the song's title. :3

Another Robot Sunset – Goodbye I'm Gone Lyrics 15 years ago
This is my hands down favorite song of theirs -- also the first one I heard. The way he uses the metaphor that she "froze to death" and then "buried her on our wedding day" is such a fantastic symbol of the abandonment and lost love.

Definitely one of the best trip-hop songs out there.

Patrick Wolf – Bluebells Lyrics 16 years ago
LOL I'm sorry for the mistakes in the lyrics - I was working off of a live show recording (before the album came out) which was different from the actual CD.

The Dears – Who Are You, Defenders of the Universe? Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually, I thought this song was more about the homeless. Look at the line, "we're not all bloodsucking leeches, for we all have families too, but that don't mean that we really love them or that we don't."

And there's the line, "We don't expect a handout or anything". When you think about it, he's trying to say that the homeless can't really help being what they are. The "give us what we want" lines could be the voices of society, telling them to work for them, get a life, job, etc.

Patrick Wolf – The Stars Lyrics 17 years ago
Oh, I know what you mean!

This song is probably my hands-down favorite of his for some reason. It's such a simple song. It's not very long, that many of those allusions and poetic lines that Patrick is so famous for, but it's still one of the most memorable.

I think it's because of the emotion he has in his words. Just the exhiliration in his tone; especially when he sings the final line: "Look up. Look up! The stars!" It's so simple, and the lines are all so short, but the way they fit together give this song a strange and inexplicable beauty.
