AllStarMe - as much as I love this song, he is trying to write like someone, but it's not morrissey.
Listen to The Magnetic Fields song "I don't want to get over you"
"I could listen to my therapist, pretend you don't exist"... weird. almost same lyric. |

I wish James had more comments on their songs. I love this one, it shows so much frustration, and.. well, it's brilliant, much like their other songs. |

I wish we weren't conceived in violence
I love this song because, to me it mean realizing that you will carry traits from your parents, and no matter how much you try, your past will always come back a little. To me, this song means realizing your'e a bit damaged but so is the person you love..and then working from there. |

Prussian Blue – Aryan Man Awake Lyrics

My thoughts on the girls lie somewhere between the opinions previous stated. I don't agree with what they sing about, but i respect their right to make the music they want. It takes balls, and it's not like they're killing anyone, or even hurting anyone. They don't have the most amazing voices, but the music is kinda pretty.
Note, I do not support white supremacy, or any race trying to claim superiority...but.... people really shouldn't get their panties in a bunch, there are worse things going on.
and the first two comments are completely childish. please grow up and learn to express opinions in a way that people will actually listen to you. |

I liked that this was in the prom scene of Saved!
It's such a good song, kinda about realizing that this is our life, and our planet, and we fuck things up a lot. Things are bigger than we realize. |

This song makes me a bit sad when I listen to it. Maybe because of the music... the words are kindy ambiguous. I can't tell what he's feeling. Great song though. Love this band. |

In the EP version, it most def. is "you freak", I dont know about the album version.
This song is so sad, and really captures the feeling of liking someone but not wanting to be seen with them because you want acceptance from other people. Its a killer. |

The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics

such a beautiful beautiful song. Im pretty sure everyone is right when you say it's about male prostitutes, the lyrics are pretty dead set in that notion. But, this will always remind me of a drunken night in new orleans where I met the love of my life, and just us running around the city together. heh |

Elliott Smith – Everything Reminds Me of Her Lyrics
| 17 years ago

I remember being so hurt from someone, and at first the song "somebody that I used to know" made me think of him because I thought I was strong enough to forget him and brush it off, then I heard this and broke down because I knew everything will always remind me of him. such a beautfiful song. I love the line
"why you staring into outerspace crying? Just because you came across it and lost it" |

Elliott Smith – Say Yes Lyrics

This isn't about dying or drugs, this time it is about love, and not necessarly loving someone, as it is loving how they make you see the world. Then feeling like you're losing them and wanting so badly to make them stay and help you off the ground. |

Ryan Adams – Sylvia Plath Lyrics

I can't believe there are people who don't know who Sylvia Plath is. She's an important female poet/writer, who's work captured emotion women didn't think they were allowed to feel out loud.
This song may not be 100% accurate to sylvia's character, but I also read the unabridged journals, and yea, what he wrote was mostly her. |

I love this song.
I think it's "at least they know what they're doing"... and it is a guy and a girl. But I could totally see it being two guys as well.
Either way, its such a sad yet poppy song about caring about someone, yet having to pretend they mean nothing. |

Her lyrics and jazzy snappy vocals just soar, especially on this track. it tells a lot about the world and that maybe our consumer/money driven lives are hurting us from feeling connections with people and the earth. |

Bright Eyes – Loose Leaves Lyrics

So that is fine, yeah, come by
We'll take the afternoon off
We can kiss and undress
Or if you want just talk
Because I have got nothing real
Just empty space to fill
And you are my girl, I like your style
Just imagine all the time we could kill
Reminds me of my beau. Just walking the streets of New Orleans with him in the heat after he got off work, going back to his house to make love and smoke weed. heh.. gash I love this song. |

New Radicals – Flowers Lyrics

Reminds me of my ex. He was a hippie dude who smoked so much weed. There were times when he was such an asshole and hypocrite (Why aren't things wild?/ You said you was a flower child).
I wanted to tell him that my love was as real as anything he smoked or saw in his visions. I wanted him to love me, but it was almost impossible. He's with someone else now, but I still remember listening to this song and crying over him. psshh |

New Radicals – I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away The Ending Lyrics

Gregg Alexander is a genius. This song is one of the many pieces of music that give proof to that statement. This downward spiral drug/sex/madness song is painful, silly, and profound at the same time. Drugs kill, kids. If you don't believe me, picture yourself in his shoes in this situation. |
