Apoptygma Berzerk – Cambodia Lyrics | 14 years ago |
That makes sense, but what to make of "She won't see his face again?" |
VNV Nation – Defiant Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Well, Ronan kinda looks like Phil sometimes :D |
VNV Nation – Procession Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Anyone know the sample they use right at the beginning. I can't make out anything except "it's payback time." |
VNV Nation – Procession Lyrics | 14 years ago |
You know...you make me sad to enjoy VNV Nation, and I think you'd make them sad to. |
VNV Nation – Joy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
That's a great idea, but Ronan Harris has flat out said that this album is not directly about war. It was about a time in his life. Even the 2012 reference was accidental. |
VNV Nation – Still Waters Lyrics | 15 years ago |
What a beautiful piece of music... It seems to be a reflection of life through his eyes. Ronan himself describes it as a lucid moment in his past where he looked at people passing him and wondered who they each might be. |
VNV Nation – Defiant Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The song is called In Defiance firstly... The only lyric I can find to fix is: "Conjure the ground upon which you firmly stood" And as for meaning..rather straight-forward: "No surrender." |
VNV Nation – Sentinel Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's a beautiful song. Ronan tends to parallel internal conflict and external struggle. So it's definitely asking Are We In The Best We Can Be In...but is it a question for Society or for Self? |
KMFDM – Tohuvabohu Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is one of my favourite songs by KMFDM. However...it's just a compilation of adages and sayings. |
Depeche Mode – Master And Servant Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This COULD have a lot to do with a BDSM relationship But I don't believe songs have to be confined to one meaning. This song's about the daily grind. Day-to-day life of working for a job that you're a slave to, buying products that companies tell you to...and comparing it to a BDSM relationship. In this case, "The Man" (employment/commercialism/etc) is the Dom, and you are the Sub. |
I:scintilla – Toy Soldier Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This speaks to me as a questioning of faith in the service in which the subject serves--makes him question his military and all it stands for. They left off the ending here, though...: Boy of the surge Compliance won't make you a man Sleeping makes you suffer The secret's hidden in the sand Boy of the surge Compliance won't make you a man Now you've deciphered The secret written in the sand |
Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Without reading everyone else's comments: The song, from my perspective, explores the childlike attention-craving that is present in all humans, in this instance present in persons of power and/or success. The repetitive "Look at me! Look at me!" is obvious evidence of this, as is the growing level of impact severity in the "I can's" (I can do this, I can do this, etc) Coinciding, it shows the danger of such a mindset in persons of power, as their "look at me's" can go to their heads. |
The Cruxshadows – Leave Me Alone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Recently, I have listened to a 20/20 installment talking about "The Gothic Movement," from 1999. It cast some light onto the possible meaning behind this song--possibly Rogue meant to respond to said show? There is even a remix with some of the more negative clips from the show. |
The Cruxshadows – Wake The White Queen Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's a well-sung summary of the main point behind Neil Gaiman's "Mirrormask" (a must-see and a must-read, by the way) |
Infected Mushroom – Shakawkaw Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Shakakaw" always reminded me of a Native American word/phrase. Not sure if there's any meaning whatsoever behind it aside from its sound, but it gives me that feel |
Apoptygma Berzerk – Suffer In Silence Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It certainly turns the situation a little more awkward. |
Traci Lords – Control Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Well, let's see...I'd peg this one as being about a woman that wants to take advantage of a man who just got thrown away by his girl |
Apoptygma Berzerk – Kathy's Song (Come Lie Next To Me) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I thought the line was "Know why you and me are one" though I could be wrong. The song comes off as a confession and a call for love and/or friendship to me. |
Underworld – Underneath The Radar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm going to guess it has something to do with living a life of insignificance in the eyes of those above you, and the joys of doing so. |
They Might Be Giants – Fingertips Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The band has said it was simply supposed to give the feel of shuffling a CD or tuning through a radio. However, jtherlow gives interesting philosophical meaning to this otherwise humorous and nonsensical medley. Also: anyone notice just how many sections seem musically reminiscent of famous songs? "Leave Me Alone" similar to the Cure, "I Don't Understand You" to the Police, etc |
Infected Mushroom – Becoming Insane Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Song meaning: A cry for help from a man slowly slipping into insanity |
Funker Vogt – Vision Lyrics | 16 years ago |
couple of corrections: "a necessary measure to an end" and "the clock counts off the seconds" I'd say the song is relatively straightforward: a future setting where the reality did not quite match up to the vision |
Moby – Go Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Come on, guys, I think there's something much, much deeper here. We really need to look into these lyrics more... Or they just say "GO" and that's it |
Covenant – 20 Hz Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's a beautifully put-together song. I always viewed it as being a song of moving on. Of constantly pushing forward through the masses of those who've simply given up or done nothing with their lives. |
Avenged Sevenfold – Bat Country Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a definite drug-related song. Perhaps a man who has found himself too far in. This is, in a sense, his proclamation to the world of where he stands, his call for help, and his insight to the state he now resides in. |
VNV Nation – Carry You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
These is more at play than any of us could possibly understand. No matter how bad off we may feel we are, there are powers at work that none of us can grasp. |
VNV Nation – The Farthest Star Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song has a message simple and clear: we have the ability for greatness in a world that is giving up hope, but we must use this power, or else it will die. |
VNV Nation – Nemesis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't think this is against people in general. More against the mindset of today. Speaking out as a voice of the minority that is stepped over by the majority. The focus of the song sees that things are not as they should be, yet the masses keep going as though nothing is wrong. And the focus wants this to change. |
Juno Reactor – Mutant Message Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's a song of hidden identity and coming out, in my opinion. |
