Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics
|
Just like most said the song seems to be about self injury and suicide. Watch the video and it's pretty obvious. However without the video I think it can be interpreted as any kind of self-destruction, including drugs/alcohol.
I relate to the song because I have self-injured a few times but it was because of my alcoholism. So mostly I personally hear this song and think of addiction. But like I said the video suggests otherwise.
The video is really good. They depict the chaos of a troubled mind very well. When you are in that dark of a place everything feels like a nightmare just like the video shows. Flashes of bad memories, regrets... dark rooms, hallways. Looking back at how I saw the world when I was at my worst time, I also remember the world as being cold and dark and confusing. Even if it was the sunniest, warmest day.
Very good song. |

Rascal Flatts – Every Day Lyrics

When I heard this song I interrupted it as one of two things: God or Loved Ones that always are there and take your back even in your darkest place. I actually was listening to it on pandora on my phone walking home from work and started crying because I had only a week ago hurt someone I loved so deeply and they still saw through that darkness and comforted me. But I see it also as speaking to God. I don't interrpret it all as talking about a stranger. |

Flyleaf – I'm So Sick Lyrics
|
To me it's a representation of someone worn out from the temptations of the world and succumbing to them. Addicts, liars, cheaters, any sin... someone trapped and wanting to get out and seeking God for redemption. The anger in the song represents that persons torment and furstration and desperate NEED. |

OneRepublic – Secrets Lyrics
|
To me I feel like it is someone who is sick of acting, being someone who they are not. Pleasing people... just want to be free of everything that haunts them. And then there's the aspect of all the problems in the world put in there. Obviously this song is about witholding the truth in whatever aspect you chose. You. The public. The Government. The basic princicpal is how tiring it can be to build up a false pretense. |

Justin Nozuka – Save Him Lyrics
|
This song actually wasn't written by Justin Nozuka. The rights to this song were sold to him by someone else. My boyfriend actually wrote most of this song with the help of another friend of mine. It was about a girl who was in an abusive relationship that he knew who was also a stripper... she doesn't know that he wrote a song about her life. |

Keane – Is It Any Wonder? Lyrics
|
"I, I always thought that I knew,
I'd always have the right to,
be living in the kingdom of the good and true.
And so on,
but now I think I was wrong.
And you were laughing along
and now I look a fool for thinking you were on my side."
Obviously the very basic theme to this song is about betrayal and lies... what those lies are and who it involves can be very widely interpreted. |

Keane – Is It Any Wonder? Lyrics
|
In my point ov view it's as if you expected something out of a person, or a certain type of support, only to find out that all this time they weren't what you thought they were/didn't support you at all and in fact didn't take you seriously. And because of that simple truth everything that's been associated with that person, memories, conversations, actions, have all been misinterpreted and wrong in the betrayed person's eyes. It's devastating when important memories are suddenly tainted.
I guess it's because I'm going through that. I expected a couple different people to care about/respect me in a certain way, and I found out they didnt. In fact they laughed about it behind my back but would be supportive to my face. It's horrible. |

OneRepublic – Won't Stop Lyrics

nikham3, I agree 100%. I actually experienced what this song is talking about this summer and I had never been so happy. The tragedy in it for me is that I met this person on a long vacation and we were separated. What I like is that they talk about waiting for that person and finding them. I waited 20 years without hope and found it in him, even though it couldn't last. I heard this song during that time, so it holds a bittersweet feeling for me. But always lovely nonetheless. |

Great song... even though I'm a girl I completely relate to this song. It's so out of character for me to like a song with this subject but coldplay can basically make a song about anything and it will be genius no matter what. |

I relate this song to how everyone in my life is moving on and leaving me, becoming different people, liking different things, moving forward. While I am in the same place I've always been. Never moving, not knowing who I am. |

I've never listened to NIN and I never want to. That is the one genre I will not touch. So I listen to this song without hearing the original, and it is amazing. So emotional.
I'm sure if I heard the NIN version it would just ruin it for me because I don't like music that has a hateful sound to it. Even if the lyrics were the most pleasant thing ever written, I would hate it with all grinding music and screaming voices and such. |

I heard this song on a playlist on Rhapsody and stopped what I was doing to see who it was. I LOVE IT.
This is one of the biggest things I worry about... finding the right person. What if I somehow miss the opportunity with my soul mate? What if I never find them? Will I ever find them? How do I know when I find that person?
Great, great song. |

empty.lightness, your world sounds like a fairly sad place to not believe in God or love for that matter. That just sounds so very pessimistic but I am glad that you find comfort in this music. Perhaps one day you will realize that there is love everywhere when God is with you. |

Dave Matthews Band – So Damn Lucky Lyrics

Want to hear something crazy? I was listening to this very song when during a car accident. My friend was driving my car on an very empty and icy road in the middle of the country and she took a turn to fast an crashed into a ditch and barbed wire fence. We were out in 5 below weather for an hour or so
Everything in this song fits that moment. It was freezing and quiet, and I remember spinning, and my friend screaming. I couldn't listen this song again for the longest time without thinking about it. |

John Mayer – In Repair Lyrics

It's about someone in a bad place. It think of it in general terms... the problem could be anything, but obviously he has changed for the worse, and is trying to go back to the way things were. He's very troubled and doesn't know how to go back, and sometimes isn't even sure he wants to, but he's trying.
It reminds me of my friend's struggle with her eating disorder though... |

Josh Groban – Broken Vow Lyrics

I co-worker of mine told me a story about this song. She is almost 60, and I, 19. Her husband had cheated on her once and this song helped her to realize that it is not worth throwing away all the happiness she had because of this wrong doing. She said she would listen to this song wondering all the same things and how her marriage could end because of one thing.
It's very powerful when you think about it that way... I was really touched. If only I could have said it in her words. |

Sounds like a mournful song... you want to be closer to be someone but cannot because they don't feel the same way. The person is saying they will still continue to be by their side even if it has to be from a distance. |

Josh Groban – Machine Lyrics

This song is the story of my life.
This person has made mistakes in the past, but has found a new, positive light. But there are people in their life that don't believe they have changed for the better and continue to bring them down by telling them they CAN'T. Can't do this, or that.
All this person wants to do is break away, and they are pretty much sick of being held down. |

Josh Groban – Weeping Lyrics

I think it's about someone with a past or secret that haunts him/her. They want to leave it behind but it's difficult to hide from not only themself, but also others.
Because of this, this person has a guarded exterior and has reinvented himself into a lie, and is miserable about it. The 'roaring' is the lie, and the 'weeping' is the truth. |

Wow... Gerard Way really put his all into the vocals here. And the video was just... WOW.
I didn't know much about MCR, but this video made me look at their background. And I read Gerard's Biography. I feel a lot of repsect for him. Though I also feel sad for him because of his problems with depression and fear of being dying alone, which fuels his music. Now when I hear their music I'm seeing lyrics here and there that directly relate to these scarring moments in his past. :(
He really is the most interesting musician I have EVER read about. He is one complex guy, and honestly at first glance I didn't expect to learn what I did about him.
I think I've started an infatuation with Gerard. He's so interesting! |
