Well, im a antheist but i must admit this song moes me deeply. I dont think its even that religious, i mean the line "maybe theres a god above" wouldnt please many christians! I think its kinda about someone looking for hope in whatever form and feeling very lost. The line "there was a time you let me know, whats realy going on below", sounds to me like a breakdown of some kinda relationship or maybe a loss of hope/faith, like you just dont know whats going on in your life anymore or how to communicate with someone. I dont really know, i just know that this is a special song and a beautiful version |

I never thought about it being a soldier, to me its just loner who doesnt fit in with society and maybe does bad stuff (to the innocent) but isnt ready to accept responsibility for it all. Maybe a hitman. I duno, i guess the lyrics can be seen as literal and that extreme but I think most people can relate to parts of this song or at least the feelings it arouses. I love this song, its what made me buy the album. |

This song is wicked!!! My fave sabbath one without a doubt. Yeah it obviously has some kinda science fiction theme but it could refer to just a normal person who wants to be accepted and want to be loved and help people but is rejected (for some reason) and slowly goes mad and plans vengence to make them pay. think of the stories of a lot of mass murderers, their anger tends to come from some kinda rejection. |

I love this song altho it does make me cry (don't tell anyone!!!). To me it is just a plea for a simple quiet life with no drama and trauma. If this is actually how he feels sounds to me like hes gor borderline personality disorder (im a sufferer too) as people with it don't cope with life stress in the same way as "normal" people do. I love this song, iv been a self harmer for 8 years and I think this song reflects the frustration a self harmer feels at themselves and their thoughts for this sick little habit!!! I think the angels in the snow is looking for a good person among all the shit people (white angels being invisable in the snow). I will colour you all red could refer to the effect you have on others, or maybe the anger at what others have done to you and wanting to put some of the hurt on to them. |
