Ra Ra Riot – Can You Tell Lyrics

when i first heard it i was driving so i didn't hear all the lyrics but my first impression was he wanted to sleep with his girlfriend but she wouldn't do it because she was abstinent or wanted to wait or something, in turn making him wait. reading the lyrics and listening to the song on youtube, i'd say Vball has it right |

Finch – A Piece Of Mind Lyrics

What are some of your favorite songs lyrically?
Nate explains, “A lot of the songs on this CD are more personal to me than the last record was — I wrote things that no one else but me could even tell are personal. I touched on things I never explored before.” For example, “’Hopeless Host’ is about my body not being a very good host for health. ‘Piece of Mind’ is about a guy getting a lobotomy, because society is going downhill and he can’t take anymore.”
taken from www.sharpeningbeneath.com
hope that helps. a lobotomy definitely explains the title. if you don't know what a lobotomy is, it's a special type of brain surgery where you basically hammer ice picks through the eye sockets into the brain. it was supposed to help mental illnesses and "moodiness." it has since been regarded as one of the biggest medical mistakes in history.

there's a backmasked message in the beginning. if my freakin program worked and quit freezing up, i'd tell you what it said. something like "i can do everything..." by then, my program freezes. |

Modest Mouse – Education Lyrics
|
to me, i think it's just straight up making fun of modern society's educational system. saying he never focused and worked hard in school but he still made something of himself. he reduces the complex and intellectual things into something everyone can understand, eg. the Nostradamus line. Nostradamus was wise and had many famous quotes, but he simplified one or more of them into basically "there will be two sides and they'll always fight."
but, to tie in with the theme of death in the album (to me anyway) it could be looking back at his educational history and maybe regretting not trying, even though he does fine now. the lines about not reading his books makes it sound like he felt he was too dumb to read them and to try. to sum it up, he's looking back, wishes he'd have done better regardless of how he is now, but can't change anything as he nears death. something like that. that's just my opinion. |

Arch Enemy – Skeleton Dance Lyrics

hard to believe that's a girl singing..anyways if you reverse the song, there are hidden messages during the intro (the whispers you can hear) the only thing i ever remember hearing was "bleeding forever."
as for the meaning, i agree with worldbeeb. also, the lyrics towards the end "Had I not known...Loss of life" is the word for word translation of Ōta Dōkan's death poem, once again helping me agree with worldbeeb |

Gorillaz – Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
i don't have an exact interpretation, but i have a few incomplete ideas.
the chorus straight up sounds like zombies..2D is a big zombie movie fan (which is what originally got me into zombie movies to be honest) and Dennis Hopper did a film in..2007? called Land of the Dead..a zombie movie. i thought that was interesting.
also (don't hate me for bringing up the war) but it could be like the US invading other countries for oil, and how it seemed a little innocent at first and then it all turned to chaos. "falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes" the troops parachuting down to ground, and Saddam Hussein was found in his "hole." but this could be completely wrong.
also, my third idea, it could just be an awesome story written by Gorillaz. they chose Dennis Hopper to narrate just for his semi-creepy voice.
anyways, that's my "interpretation" |

i must have the clean version, cuz i don't hear any bong sounds..and i'm pretty sure it's "feel the impact" at the beginning. also, this doesn't have the lyrics for the hidden track that starts somewhere around 5:30 or so |

Fair to Midland – upgrade^brigade Lyrics

what about the album art? in the booklet, the picture for this song has a computer with binary on the screen..i tried to use an online translator and it just made gibberish..but also, FtM had a thing on their website where if you translated binary you could listen to a certain song or something, so it feels like there's more to it than just gibberish |

that sounds right, even though he mentions the beaches of Normandy. it almost sounds like he was looking for someone to crash into or like he planned it. "A fatal evening's drive is what they will always assume; But I know better as I collide face first with you" |

oh, alright then. i just borrowed the cd from my friend lol so i guess we can trust you. i was confused when i thought it said rapper but i guess i just got used to "hearing" that. but yeah you might be onto something with this forbidden tree stuff. it does sound kinda like wanting something you can't have. maybe the whole evil thing relates to satan tempting eve or just what happens when you disobey God. who knows.. |

your first quote..i think it can apply to my party idea. like..teenagers who don't care about anything anymore except going out and partying. and what you said about the second verse..he says drank all night and ache all day..like a hangover. idk, maybe its just cuz i'm still in high school that i think it relates to something that simple =P |

Peeping Tom – Mojo (Feat. Rahzel & Dan the Automator) Lyrics

Patton said this song is drug addiction from the drug users point of view. makes sense to me. gotta get the mojo runnin' as in get high, get that feeling again. its his party but waiting for someone to start it, he needs to get his fix from someone. then the i can't believe i did it again and oops i did it again as in oh no, he just did drugs again, he'll never get over his addiction. well thats my interpretation of it |

Project 86 – Molotov Lyrics

sounds like he's talking about a big party with alcohol..
"too bad they can't say at the break of the dawn that the night was a dream"
they can't say they had a fun night because they don't remember it and/or threw up or got sick.
"i know i've swallowed it all but i could never be full and now they call me a fool for leaving"
he drank it all but never got full as in never got the pleasure out of it that they promised and so he left
straight up went to a party and hated it..nothing more nothing less imho |

KoЯn – Thoughtless Lyrics

i agree with the others, probably related to the Columbine shootings, but JD also adds in some of his own personal experiences through his voice and his lyrics. he too was picked on throughout school. the video is basically all you need to see..a kid gets picked on and gets his revenge. i think the faces in his skin are a result of the pain they cause, the pain is never-ending and long, he just sits and suffers. and the end..well i think it's a soft way of shooting up prom. they probably did the whole vomit thing instead of using guns and bullets to try and get airplay. or maybe the vomit is all his pain (the faces and all) thrown back at all who deserve it. he gets the jocks/preps and everyone else for not helping/standing up/being a good friend. (im not sure if the vomit really symolizes bullets or whatever, thats just a guess) |

Rammstein – Spring Lyrics
|
By looking at the lyrics, to me, the person in the song is not hated. He merely wanted to see the view from atop the bridge. When others notice, they all think he is suicidal and egg him on. They want him to jump just so he can end it all and not back out. They want to see him splatter on the ground. "Don't disappoint me." They all wait and wait for him to do it, even though it was never his intention to jump. Eventually, after they get tired of waiting, the narrator climbs up the bridge and kicks him off. He has finally redeemed himself, and everyone is not disappointed, and the song ends. |
