I believe the third line is "Bauhaus never sounded quite as sweet", not "a bomb has never sounded quite as sweet" it seems far more likely that SLGTM would reference a post-punk band than praise terrorism. I do think the fuse line is correct though. |

so so good. about restlessness, but at the same time about the inability to articulate your restlessness to the people or person you should feel most comfortable with. I, too, love the lines "you said 'why don't you write another song about riding the bus? why don't you take another picture of the train station?' Why don't you fuck off?" very funny. very clever in its criticism of not so clever art. |

I listened to it several times and am confident that the "move like my friend history here told me" line is correct... that stanza is problematic as the imagery seems kind of random and too dense... Although I don’t think this song is by any means the best on the new album, I feel drawn to it more than any of the other tracks. I’m not sure why that is. |

more than just about a new years kiss... this girl lost her virginity at a party to a boy she didnt know (hence the impersonal use of the word 'boy' rather than a name) and didnt even remember it. what she had imagined as being fun and romantic (on a balcony with champagne lips), ended up being tacky and awkward. |

"second shift as a fry cook that's your holiday in grease" - spending all that time in school and then having to work a shit job to make a living... Job market flooded with college educated workers, so all that money spent on school was worthless... "you ignore the smell of mold as you smooth out the folds/when you're on your own you've got no one to please - firstly being too poor for laundry, but also the depression associated with the way this person is living. No family, no friends, no money, no future. |

several of the tracks on The Loon don’t seem to make a whole lot of sense. Insistor isn't a word, and I don’t know what all this is about Harvard Square and badgers and bail bonds... the parts that make sense seem to be about a young couple, the woman being very demanding (insistor=insister I assume), unfaithful (“Is it mine or is it some other ring / That you wear as we lie in bed tonight), and a liar who uses the man (just hug my lips and say good lies). The man, who first person narrates the song) seems to genuinely care for her, but in the end they break up (the last chorus isn’t …say good lies, it is …say goodbye) I could be way way off, though… |
