mewithoutYou – Nine Stories Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i think it might be implying that the owl has lived a long time? only explanation i can think of. |
mewithoutYou – Nine Stories Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i'm confused as to why mwY would post lyrics to this song with lines that aren't actually included in the song and missing lines that are actually in the song oh well |
Polar Bear Club – Slow Roam Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Polar Bear Club – Religion on the Radio Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i've been looking around at abandoned cars on the side of the highway asking myself are they a metaphor for lack of drive or dead battery eyes? ya gotta scream to get your point across and that's our way ya gotta scratch the skin with the youngest cut and it'll be ok too many nights int he greyhound station of north Syracuse the departure screen looking at me like it was talking shit just as i walked in too much debt, pride and swinging mood through American veins the confidence of twenty fools with equal parts shame yeah we're playing dead ya wanna break my jaw or maybe break the bread can't leave or stay, sitting on the steps it's no surprise i hear religion on the radio, we can't find any other signal slow, that's how it'll go when you're building something that's worth the build but keeping in mind why you started to climb it gets harder with height don't you think of starting over now, what a waste the guy in your head and the one in the mirror have a different face yeah we're playing dead ya wanna break my jaw or maybe break the bread can't leave or stay, sitting on the steps it's no surprise i hear religion on the radio, we can't find any other signal are you gonna break down the wall playing with a red rubber ball pick the hammer up and turn me all to dust |

"gold leaf obituary" "cheap bets and ankle weights" |
Polar Bear Club – Life Between the Lines Lyrics | 12 years ago |
2nd verse is: "deeper than disparity, a shred of the curtain hangs in front of me a tattered piece from when i was a boy what do we call this thing? what do we call this thing? back of your throat, it's almost there it's just the stitch of what you wear" the part after the last chorus: "from the streets to the steps, put generation names to rest we sing out to silence the let down from the streets to the steps, put generation names to rest we sing out to silence the let down let us not be shameful forever." |
Polar Bear Club – I'll Never Leave New York Lyrics | 12 years ago |
talking in my sleep, back pedal to the reason that you don't want to walk with me don't fight what you can't say, you know i do it you can't hope to live off change or hope she's gonna chase or barter on good faith, or wither white with grace while drive eats you away but you and i, we're breaking the windows so we can feel the cold computers and candles lighting what we know we're doing fine, now and here won't fade this time drove up to Beacon Hill for the first time tonight, it's us against our will with Neil Young and Catholic guilt so we're both a little gone and the scenery's getting hazy the view goes on and on to sad bastard songs but you and i, we're breaking the windows so we can feel the cold computers and candles lighting what we know we're doing fine, now and here won't fade this time at the starting line of last year, grinning like a fool can you tell how much the road veers, can you own it if it owns you? but you and i, we're breaking the windows so we can feel the cold computers and candles lighting what we know we're doing fine, now and here won't fade this time i promise that we won't sell the store yeah there's wintery weather but i'll never leave New York we're doing fine, now and here won't fade this time |
Polar Bear Club – Bottled Wind Lyrics | 12 years ago |
yeah you're looking tired and broken, like the pillar of a dock dead sitting, the water hitting you but never breaking through is "going places" getting somewhere now? you should be running faster or down days will shatter you talking on what's over due let me ask you once and not again are we half asleep or walking dead? let me tell you how the times have changed the wasteland isn't just for the teenaged you look so together but slightly disheveled like the free spirit that you are it's so impressive doing what's done by few, living your life in bloom i feel like the wait staff on the midnight train you've got your heart in your pocket, heavier than river rocks how slow till it's full stop? let me ask you once and not again are we half asleep or walking dead? let me tell you how the times have changed the wasteland isn't just for the teenaged ginny eyes, is this my exciting life? or just a lie 'cuz the borderline gets thinner between here and that small town i can't outrun it on bottled wind let me ask you once and not again are we half asleep or walking dead? let me tell you how the times have changed the wasteland isn't just for the teenaged i'll tell it and be done, swimming is how sinking isn't sunk |
Polar Bear Club – 3-4 Tango Lyrics | 12 years ago |
corrections from the liner notes of the album: 1st verse: "checks the plants on the window sill" "he can't call his kids or his wife cause he'd drink till he'd cry to his daughter about God and life" chorus: "a silhouette of innocence a shaving cut of common sense holding what can't let you go laughing hardest to the comic's intro a winter walk to clear your mind do your twenties suck until twenty-nine? holding what can't let you go dance your heart out to the 3/4 tango" 2nd verse: "when really you wanna hold the mirror to nature thinking you're the next miller or shakespeare will the glass ever come to you cause who knows what you'd do?" |
Owen – A Bird In Hand Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i disagree (respectfully, of course). the line "i'm a bird in your hand, so take me as i am" is a reference to a saying "a bird in hand is worth more than two in a bush," meaning basically that a guaranteed thing (the bird in hand) is better than a chance (the two in the bush). i believe he's saying that the person he's writing about already has him as "a bird in your hand," so he's trying to convince this person that he's the safer/better/etc. choice than anything else. this is all my interpretation, anyway. |
The Gaslight Anthem – Stay Lucky Lyrics | 14 years ago |
the line sounds like "them feelings DIED for reasons, you know" to me |
The Riot Before – Hidden Track Lyrics | 14 years ago |
lyrics aren't finished for some reason: ...that you were and there was something in that quiet when it was only you and me and now i'm scared that it may be gone forever because it's been so long since that tall chair has had any company and the fire place is cold and damp and the wind has begun winning 'cause for so long, i stood for you i fought the wind each time it blew because her face it made me (?) and now i fall each day you're gone please come back soon |

Moving Mountains – Foreword Lyrics | 15 years ago |
incredible |
Modest Mouse – Secret Agent X-9 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's Frank, not James Hoenikker. Also, I think the lines "So why did they give you that job? And why can they give you that job?" relate to the fact that he gave "Papa" his piece of Ice-nine, which is why he got the job at San Lorenzo. |
Say Anything – Loathing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
some corrections, the way i hear the song: "another in a chain" instead of "change" also, i can't tell if he's saying "a self-important..." or "of". i think "of" makes more sense however. "Convinced the pen can battle all the guns they draw at you" that makes more sense too other than that, good job. i'm also bummed that this song won't be on the new record. i know it got a lot of hate for the lyrics, especially the "ride a bike" and "depressing apartment" parts but i really dig it. |
