You can't go by the way the lyrics are typed. Honestly. As with poetry you go by the way they phrase it. With the third verse it would be "Lost her way from everything she swore she knew..." As in she's lost. The stuff that she KNEW (or thought she knew) isn't what she thought. And at the beginning... "She fell out, her broken legs won't let her walk away from this town that won't give a single shit either way..." That is exactly how I feel about my life. I could leave, I could die, and no one would really notice. Yeah, maybe a few, but in general no one would "give a single shit either way." That is one of my new phrases. Someone asks what I want to do... "I couldn't give a single shit either way." Its saying "I not only don't give a shit what happens, I don't give a SINGLE shit." Gotta love the Chef. |

I frickin love both the song and pot as well. hehe. I listen to this song constantly at work and everytime I get this image in my head of it being used in a stoner movie. Here's the idea: A guy is in Amsterdam. He's amazed by everything. All of a sudden the camera focuses in on a "cafe" (which in Amsterdam is where you smoke pot) but this really hot chick walks into the shot.... and the guy starts singing this song. The girl thinks it's about her. BUT IT'S ABOUT THE POT PLACE!!!!!!!!!! I giggle every time. |

ummm... Death Cab for Cutie was named after a song performed in the "Magical Mystery Tour" film. It was called "Death Cab for Cutie" and was performed by Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Get Back is my favorite song in the whole world right now. It's so upbeat and happy. Also, there was a verse that was left out because it was too racially tense. "Meanwhile back at home too many Pakistanis, Living in a council flat Candidate Macmillan, tell us what your plan is, Won't you tell us where it's at" And yes, the California grass is speaking of marijuana. The boys were quoted as saying that any song with the word grass in it was a reference to pot as well as the song "Got To Get You Into My Life." |
