Paula Cole – Mississippi Lyrics | 11 years ago |
One of my favorite Paula Cole songs. |
Tori Amos – Battle of Trees Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I just found this, but it might help explain the song a little bit. http://dutchie.org/celtic-tree-lore/ |
Björk – I Miss You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Epic Bjork! ; ) This song combines passion, dance, love... everything genius we know and love about her. |
Woody Guthrie – Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'm searching for this song right now. Heard an excellent version performed by a local blues singer/guitarist, and it absolutely took my breath away. "There ain't nobody that can sing like me.." |
Ace of Base – Cecilia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Nevermind, it IS about Simon & Garfunkel. I just didn't catch that in the lyrics at first glance. |
Ace of Base – Cecilia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I wonder what this song is about. |
Tori Amos – Take Me With You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
She's such an amazing lyricist : ) |
Neil Young – Down By The River Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I really don't think this song is about a horse or heroin. He wrote this song while passed out in bed with a bad fever. Amazing song. |
Jewel – Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is just a fun song with genius lyrics like only Jewel can do. She rocks it out in this one. |
The Moody Blues – Question Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This appears to be about the question of "Is there a God?" The chorus puts it right out there. |
Leon Russell – Tight Rope Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I saw him live tonight. Great song. I wish the lyrics to his other songs were up. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – I Fall Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I found it on Projectplaylist.com. It's got an almost Billy Idol feel to it. |
Christopher Cross – Ride Like the Wind Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song kicks ass! I believe it was written by Christopher Cross himself, and I know that he dedicated it to Lowell George. |
Sugarloaf – Don't Call Us, We'll Call You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
A great song. Surprised no one has commented on it yet. |
Tori Amos – Wrapped Around Your Finger (The Police cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love watching videos of Tori performing this song. It is a truly captivating experience, and she puts a beautiful spin on the original version. It always gets stuck in my head after hearing it...but I really don't mind much. |

Badfinger – Day After Day Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I had forgotten that George Harrison produced this song for Badfinger. Actually, I was mistaking it for a Beatles song when it got stuck in my head today. Leon Russell played the piano part in the studio version. He's from my hometown of Tulsa. |
Tori Amos – Peeping Tommi Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"She's willing. Just breathe. Willing - one day I’ll be..." The way she sings this line, I do think she is talking about the rape. |
Tori Amos – Mr. Bad Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
There's a devil on the loose. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – A Night Like This (The Cure cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Fuck, yes. Pumpkins concert is tomorrow in Dallas! I love you all. |
The White Stripes – Sugar Never Tasted So Good Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think its about cocaine also, but not that he confused cocaine with sugar. He's just calling the coke "sugar'. He's talking about the feeling it gives and that he needs water afterward. |
Tori Amos – Sugar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"And all the robins bring, bring me many things..." Reminds me of a fairy tale princess such as Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella, surrounded by their animals friends. Robins. Love and sugar. Bring Tori her sugar, damnit! |
Tori Amos – Peeping Tommi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
She says "willing peeping tommi" and "I think of you, I think of that man all the while" which could refer to her wanting to be more comfortable with her sexuality. Although she IS a lot more comfortable with sex than most out there. It also seems to be about wanting the same passion as other couples/partners when they make love. Or just a song about spying. Any way, a fantastic song. |
Jewel – Down So Long Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is one of my true Jewel favorites |
No Doubt – Detective Lyrics | 17 years ago |
These are closer to the actual lyrics from another website (but I did not proofread the whole thing): Peek in, sneak about peek in, sneak about your broken hearted detective hey girl save the liar can't you see his pants on fire hey girl, save the liar can't you see his pants on fire my back it hurts again it aches like history cottonmouth and all lit up you're smiling back at me, but I feel you must have failed me once again you've let me down my confidence below my knees now I need to find you out [Chorus:] Peek in, sneak about I'm gonna snoop and call you out I caught you, your hands are red Now I'm your broken hearted detective Hey, hey hey Hey lover why the gun? Hold on I'm almost there It's too late you've killed the trust Don't act so unaware Why are you so destructive? Do you realize what you've done? you can't bring it back to life now What are you running from? [Chorus] I don't like the way I feel I just want you to be real Hey girl, save the liar Can't you see his pants on fire? Hey girl, save the liar Can't you see his pants on fire? I'm rummaging through your closet Imagining all the worst thoughts [Chorus x2] Peek in, peek in Peek in, peek in Peek in, sneak about I'm gonna snoop and call you out I've caught you, you're hands are red Now I'm you're brokenhearted detective |

A Flock of Seagulls – I Ran (So Far Away) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Amazing song. And pardon my language, but Tori Amos' cover of this is fucking awesome. |
Tori Amos – Upside Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Suits my mood today completely. |
Tori Amos – Cloud On My Tongue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Interesting. I assumed the "wood" was referring to the man in particular. "Leave the wood outside" - pretty clear that she wants him to go away. |
Tori Amos – Mother Revolution Lyrics | 17 years ago |
^ And also the cd booklet : ) But of course if you do not have the booklet..then yeah Google's awesome for those things. |
Tori Amos – General Joy Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Tori Amos – General Joy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
All I know is that this is a very political album of hers. |
Tori Amos – Twinkle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
That video is great ^ even though someone's composed different lines. Thanks for posting it Mordak. |
Tori Amos – Mr. Zebra Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with CoolKSJ in the sense that artists need their privacy, and songs should not always be pecked over and analyzed to find the exact meaning by us, the listener. Sometimes a great song is just a great song that can be appreciated without being speculated under a magnifying glass. Not that many people were doing that in this discussion even, but, yeah. Respect for privacy is always a suitable thing. Especially for someone as emotional as Tori who shares her insights with us (It's a deeply lovely thing to experience). |

A gorgeous song from Tori. |
Tori Amos – Heart of Gold (Neil Young cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm so fond of the original. This one's manic, but when you think about it, it really fits. |
Tori Amos – I'm Not in Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a beauty. Originally done by 10cc. |
10cc – I'm Not In Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes a great song. Obviously he is in love. And someone already mentioned Tori's version, but it is damn good. |
Tori Amos – God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I gotta find why you always go when the wind blows." Simple. Means where is God when things get hard to deal with? |
Michael Jackson – Ain't No Sunshine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The original was done by Bill Withers. |
Bill Withers – Ain't No Sunshine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Such a classic melody. |
Styx – Blue Collar Man (Long Nights) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The riff is more badass than the actual lyrics, but its still Styx so its alright. |
The Hollies – The Air That I Breathe Lyrics | 17 years ago |
So much emotion! Gotta love The Hollies. I adore listening to this song in my car when it comes on the radio. |
The Hollies – Bus Stop Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow, surprised more people haven't commented also. This song is amazing, has such a pure and great essence about it. |
Radiohead – The National Anthem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I always heard it as "Everyone is so near...and so alone. Everyone has got the fear...so alone." Hmm. |
Radiohead – Lucky Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is an incredible song. To me it's more about the emotion in Thom's voice than the actual lyrics. |
