i love this song, its a perfect mix between the new material of the cd and this type of thinking i have a belief about what this could mean, i may be wrong so dont criticize, but i think its about joe leaving the band... i mean like the fisrt verse (to me) is saying that the producers and everyone said that they didnt need joe, then pete and sam went along with it then the chorus is saying that there missing a part of the band (one cell) and that they shouldve tried harder to keep him in the band then its kinda like ok joes gotten over being out of the band and they've gotten over him not being in the band and they dont blame anyone for ehat has happened then the bridge is saying that this song defines what happened... and the usless there rules part refers to how when in a band u HAVE to tour is what u do, and joe didnt wanna do the traveling so the "rules" were useless... so in the end he's imagining if the split between the band and joe never happened (my opinion) |

this is a song about god, he's telling god he is sorry for needing him to do everthing for him because god helps those who help themselves. "You never change, you never stay the same" -is an oxymoron but god can do anything then he tells god that he wants god to take everthing away from his life and for god to tell him how to live his life. he wants him and needs him in his life. this song, i believe, is an experience he had or some one else he knew had with cocaine. i agree on the most part with "my username sucks", but the one part everyone misses is the stepson/fish part. when he says stepson he is not reffering to an actual stepson but he is "renaming" the person so only he knows who he is talking about, he's giving the person the "codename": stepson. the fish is just another codename for cocaine. I hope your stepson doesn't eat the fish= i hope you and i dont use cocaine. i think he is the actual one doing cocaine and he is saying how when he uses it he is normal and every one has a problem an is wrong but when he's off cocain he realizes there is something wrong with everyone.
