Third Eye Blind – Don't Believe a Word Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Here are the correct lyrics (I think they've changed). There are about 4 lines I'm not sure about. Cigarettes making ember stains Incriminating notes on a paper chain Did you ever get the feeling that you’ve been cheated? I wanna bust out, I’ve been defeated All strong bones they hold no water A big fake smile and you try harder Time wound down and you've been cached Half measures are all half-assed! How did we ever end up this way? I’ve gone numb in disarray Cultivating our ignorance Didn't we have some standards once? I hate you and your cowboy boots We wanted clever, we settled for stupid and Threw it all away so indiscrete Like a bad boy afraid he’s a dirty little cheat It’s a shallow vicious state of mind Like an angry child getting dumped online Give me back my photos, will you? You fucking whore I'll kill you! Don't believe a word Just keep on breathing Cuz pretty soon that good King George Will wake up screamin' Our soundtrack is the shortest thing Some dull ache-replace the stain Rap stars brag about shooting each other? What ever happened to brother, Brother? We like thugs when they attack and We like crime when it's black on black and Isn't this you, cruel-hearted fake? Isn't this more than you can take! Don't believe it! Just walk on by Cuz this moment will pass And then we all can go get high Don't believe it Just keep on breathing Cuz pretty soon that good King George Will wake up screamin' Wake up screamin’ Wake up screamin’ YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! Round up the big lesbians Yay for the bullies they always win All sensation makes no sense You got some insane confidence I can’t find myself, I can’t change the station In this corporate sedative pity nation Scandalize now with such ease America give me back my keys Sanity blows a soldier squeeze Trigger mark fake enemies We're all alive, we're all alone Til you come home Bring ‘em home |
Matchbox Twenty – How Far We've Come Lyrics | 16 years ago |
If you've seen the music video, it opens up a new dimension to the song in some ways. It chronicles many big events in history. I think Rob is making the point that things are not going well right now (Iraq, corruption, healthcare, the state of the Middle East, global warming, etc...) and that we, not only as Americans, but as people have to rise up against these issues. The song is somewhat cynical, but at the same time, optimistic that we can do good. There are a lot of good examples of how we've come together and done great things in the video; landing on the moon, tearing down the Berlin wall, Live Aide, Live Earth, minorities as front runners for Pres... We are at a major turning point in American history with many challenges to face. Let's see how far we really have come as people and see what we can do together. That's what we've always done as Americans. |
Jackson Browne – I Am a Patriot Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song. Jackson Browne was a very outspoken political person and I think this is to clarify what some people (unfortunately) misunderstand a classing of ideology as being un-patriotic (much like what's going on right now). I am very much against this war and most things Bush has done, but that does not make me any less American or a patriot than someone who is for the war or Bush. "I said what I believe in my soul/ Ain't what I see with my eyes/ And we can't turn our backs this time" are probably the best lines of the song. What he feels is right in his heart is not what's going on in the world. You don't have to be a Dem or Reublican to be a patriotic American. I can identify with this song very much. Awesome song. Greatest songwriter ever. |
Lifehouse – Broken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If you're gonna post lyrics on here (I see you're like 13 years old), make them CORRECT OR D@MN CLOSE. I see this everytime I get on this site it seems like. When you get the lyrics as WRONG as you did, you completely change the context of the song. I understand you prob got them from some obscure place on the internet or AOL first listen, but don't post it if you're not sure. Sorry to sound so angry, but it just annoys me when people just make up lyrics and post them. (Deep breath). Anyway, here are the correct lyrics from the CD booklet-jasonwadeofcourse, copy and paste this so it is correct: The broken clock is a comfort It helps me sleep tonight Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts I am damaged at best like you've already figured out I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a Broken heart That’s still beating In the pain There is healing In your name I find meaning So i'm holding on holding on holding on i'm barely holding on to you the broken locks were a warning You got inside my head I tried my best to be guarded I'm an open book instead I still see your reflection inside my eyes that are looking for purpose they're still looking for life Chorus I'm hanging on Another day Just to see what you will Throw my way And I'm hanging on to the words you say You said that I will Be ok The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone I may have lost my way now Haven't forgotten my way home Chrous I'm holdin' on (Im still holdin')x8 or so |
Stevie Ray Vaughan – Life Without You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is haunting. The sustain and reverb in the solo just makes you close your eyes and you can feel Stevie's emotion through his guitar. One of his best songs. I saw an interview with him talking ab the guitar Charley made for him, and he got teary eyed just talking about him. He obviously meant a great deal to him. It's too bad we can listen to this song now and think of Stevie. |
John Mayer – I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
At his concert in Atlanta he said this song was sexy music with him telling you how big of an asshole he is. |
John Mayer – Waiting on the World to Change Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What an anthemic song for our generation. |
Pearl Jam – Dissident Lyrics | 17 years ago |
musically, pearl jam's best song. mike's guitar on this song is awesome. |
John Mayer – Belief Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think the reference to 100,000 children in the sand is to the 100,000+ soldiers that have been sent to Iraq, most of them being anywhere from 18 to early 20s. either way though, it makes a strong point and makes you think "why?". |
Moses Mayfield – Fall Behind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is such a deep song. It's about death and that it's something that can't be escaped. "Some questions fade these will remain". The idea of suicide seems to be littered in this song as well. "Maybe slit my wrist". No matter how much good you did in your life, all your lies and bad things you did will come to light at the moment of death. There's a lot more to this song than that... Get the EP-Live at Workplay. Awesome! |
John Mayer – Covered In Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think the last verse says: Now I'm standing facing west Tracing my fingers around (a)* sillhouette I haven't gotten used to yet But it's the brightest thing I got This is probably about when he was getting ready to move to LA and leave NYC. He's lost his girl and is leaving the city, which i think is what City Love is leading up to (watch the dvd), he falls in love for all the wrong reasons with this girl and the city. He's looking a LA as the best thing he's got going on right now. |
John Mayer – Belief Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is even better live. This is probably my favorite song right now. It's so meaningful and well thought. He said this is about as far back he could stand from the issue of beliefs and write a song about it. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SINGLE NEXT AFTER GRAVITY. |
John Mayer – Belief Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think everyone so far is right when about how it's about using religion or even just ideas for bad or negative purposes. Bush has very blatently done this. My favorite part is when he says "what puts a hundred thousand children in the sand/ belief can. what puts a folded flag inside his mother's hand/ belief can." i hope this song becomes a single. its a good song for anyone to here. he spent 3 years writing it and hopefully it will make people really think. I'm not s a huge ben harper fan but i love his solo on this song too. |
Jackson Browne – Lives In The Balance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Does the phrase history repeats itself mean anything to anyone? |
John Mayer – Waiting on the World to Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My opinion of it is I'm glad to see how much he's matured lyrically over the past 5 years. He doesn't have to tell anyone what to think, but hopefully, like he said, he'll get them TO think about these issues. He did say before playing an acoustic version of the song that the reason its called WAITING on the world to change is bc he doesnt feel like he or anyone else can do anything about it (we just feel like we don't have the means/ to rise above and beat it). It's because the rules keep changing. He said people wonder why there used to be so many change songs. He says the reason for that is peoples minds didnt used to be so defensive to new ideas. His analogy was the Bush is like that kid up the street you used to play cops and robbers with. But everytime you shot him, he all of a sudden became bulletproof. The best line is "when you trust your television/what you get is what you got/ cuz when the own the information oh/ they can bend it all they want". *Cough*- FOX NEWS -*Cough* |
John Mayer – Waiting on the World to Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
In a recent interview, Mayer said he doesn't consider himslef a political songwriter. "I'm only a lifestyle artist," he says. "I know I use the word 'war,' but I kind of feel like it's part of the vocabulary now of just being a person. War is everywhere now." Still, Mayer admits the single -- from his forthcoming album 'Continuum,' due Sept. 12 -- may "rankle some": "The song doesn't offer a solution," he explains. But he says he doesn't want to be one of those artists who tell people what to think. "I just have to be very careful with my words, because I think I know the difference between offering people an emotional observation and my opinion," Mayer says. "My opinion is worth nothing. My emotional observation is worth everything. I want to be able to keep that trust to at least get people to think. All you have to do is think -- we'll talk about it later." |
Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i love the line "Tell you to pray while the devil's on his shoulder." its so true. president bush will rot in hell for what hes done. |
Pearl Jam – Marker in the Sand Lyrics | 18 years ago |
eddie seems to come back to the idea of what he stated in "do the evolution". the song hits on all the hypocrises of man including the line "i can kill bc in God i trust". as lioneyes stated and what seems to obvious, Bush has used the bible to not only get elected, but help justify the war. As we've also seen, the iraqis are killing in the name of islam. 9/11 (which of course iraq had NOTHING to do with) was also a religous act. its all very hypocritical yet ironic. "how can you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" -john kerry |
