Hefner – Fat Kelly's Teeth Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is kind of a real perspective into infidelity. I know I've definitely been here. He doesn't feel that bad for cheating on his girl partly because the girl he messed around with isn't attractive.

My favorite line: "She had sympathy, she had cigarettes; now they've all disappeared."

It's really funny how your priorities change when you're drunk...

The New Pornographers – Testament to Youth in Verse Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow... just wow... I absolutely love this song.

It sounds like a song about growing up... In youth, it's pretty freaking easy to point the finger about the choices you make. At some point you have to take responsibility. I think that is the exodus he is referring to. At some point you have to grow up and listen to the bells say no no no...

A.C. Newman – Come Crash Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow... I saw a whole other meaning...

To me, it seems like they're really fucked up on drugs and alcohol and he just really wants to sleep with her. "Christine come crash on my floor" is the only way he knows how to ask her... I think it's in the way he says it- over and over again- almost like a broken record the way you feel coming down after a hard night of drugs and alcohol...

The Decemberists – A Cautionary Song Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought this song was a parable from the first time I heard it... I totally picture some removed great aunt or nanny or even a father telling this to his kids, sitting in his easy chair, puffing on his pipe. The kids are wide eyed and anxious. The same goes for Shankhill Butchers on The Crane Wife.

My Grandma used to tell us that if we swallowed watermelon seeds they would grow out of our belly buttons in the same way...

Well the Clyde is a river in glasgow scotland... To me it sounds like he gets out of a bad life by leaving the town (glasgow). He then comes back to old times maybe which is his old friends and their buckfast tonic water.

I can't believe no one has commented yet...

This sounds like an ode to missed opportunity. She gets away...

I agree with you underwear.

I think its interesting that this story is as new as 1824 as the moors invaded in the 8th century. Perhaps more knowledge of spanish history would unfog this.

It was during this song at sasquatch that Colin got 20,000 drunk/high screaming fans to sit down and just listen... He is amazing.

Sounds like typical domestic violence out in the boonies. The setting colin paints in this piece is pretty vivid.

Hefner – I Took Her Love For Granted Lyrics 18 years ago
This whole album has something to do with love. Somehow, they manage to bring something unique still. This song is about the oh-so-painful after break up when the good times are still fresh in your head.
