i think this song is amazing. i NEVER thought FOB had it in them but apparently they do and just for this song they deserve every dollar, fan, and fame they've ever gotten. everyone who has written a comment seems 2 make the assumption that pop music is bad. not all pop music is terrible. the only reason everyone want to trash it is because to them it means conformity, it means kelly clarkson and it means ashley simpson. that's only one small part of the pop scene. and in case you didn't notice your precious FOB is from the pop scene. i own every album and it has pop written all over it. it's not punk, punk is dead to me, they stopped making it when the millenuim rolled around. and FOB didn't sell out to the music company. just because they became famous doesn't mean they sold out. it means someone realized their potential. If they really had sold out to the music company this album would be another FUTCT. why would producers want to screw around with good thing? and why would they launch thier friends and enemies tour with such small venues and sell tickets to only long time members of their web club thingy? those people who call themselves true fans are liars. a true fan respects a band's growth. they don't leave when their fav band gets famous and cry "they've sold out" that's idiotic. just like a real friend, a real fan is happy when a band achieves the fame and pay they deserve. so shut up you posers |

and the (whatcha got, gotta gotta give it up) part is just saying that no one can go one living in such a fake way eventually you gotta grow up or else sooner or later someone is gonna figure you out and you'll be all alone. and the (i may be ugly but they sure love 2 stare) part has to do with the pretty bratty popular girls that everyone knows is mean and ugly on the inside but still everyone wants to be them. |

ok i love the interpretations suggested here but i disagree on a few points... I don't think this song is JUST about teen drama, although that is a part of it. it's mostly about how ridiculous the school scene is especially in middle school (and some high schools depending on how small urs is) it's saying how everyone wants to seem like they are the ones having the most fun and they are the most beautiful. therefore they go one no-calorie diets and create endless drama. in truth it's all a mask (we keep ourselves a mystery) but there is always something that's going to give away their insecure selves (we provide the clues)... |

I like how importantopolis and xxMaterializerxx interpreted this song becuase it makes a lot more sense than from the way i was looking at it. i was thinking that it was a joust at the extremely social people who are merely acting out the latest scene in their life while putting on a face that displays only lies. They spend so much time flitting about trying to make everyone like them that in reality they don't have a true friend in the world. Someone final decides to break away from the trend but realizes nothing is really changing except for themselves because the only one they were really fooling was themselves. A lot of the interpretation comes from watching the music video too. ;) |

i don't think he actually stalking her. it's more of a metaphor. he's looking into the "house of her heart" feeling depressed (rain) cuz he doesn't have a place there anymore. so now he's trying to find a way back in to her heart and trying to do it sneakily so she won't notice. and i think she's "asleep in her love" (because maybe of whatever he did to her) so she's not really listening to him or paying attention. i've never seen eternal sunshine of the spotless mind so i don't know about that theory |

if u look at the correct lyrics it makes much more sense...the person who posted these lyrics really was on acid... the song is basically saying that while we humans look upon nature as a vicous beast that will kill us if we don't tame it that nature looks upon us in the same way but it is weaker and therefore losing the battle. the first bit is saying that we're on a stage playing out the same old play (where man triumphs against beast) but this time it is on a smaller scale...only a poor farmer trying to make his way pitted against a bird and her young. the second bit is the play and it's ending. and the last part is saying that we(humans) are the real beasts. GAD is saying we humans are destroying the world. |

ok (deep breath) i thought deeply about this song for the past couple of days because it was eating away at my soul...so here it is: I think this song is the tale of the first sin by Adam and Eve and the consequences thereafter. The whole arrow thing has to do with Adam lying to the lord and in a way it sorta tosses the blame on Eve who told Adam to partake of it. the apple obviously is the forbidden fruit but their are also many other allusions to apples in the first couple of verse: adam's apple (in your throat), apple of william tell, and apple of discord. the doves signify peace and innocence so it makes sense to say that they died since after Adam and Eve were thrown out of the garden there was never the same peace that existed then. and of course adam and eve lied most of the rest of the song reminds me of this narritave i read where the author was imagining what the first night away from the garden must have been like for them. that as they looked out upon the sea (the seas wine red) and saw the sun setting and the earth growing cold and they felt themselves growing weary they must have thought they were falling asleep for the last time because they had been promised death because of their sin(plus they didn't really need to sleep when they were immortal) (this is the death of beauty) so that explains the whole song i thik including the bit about them lying down beneath the tree and being covered with silver leaves |

They were commenting on the fact that they had done just the opposite and now in the end have come out better because they changed their dreams. This song is totally about him wanting this girl who just wants someone else to pay for her expensive lifestyle and not really caring about who it is. He just wants her really bad. LOL i m seriously such a FREAK. i listened to the song like 56768 more times and read over my analysis and realized i have NO idea what i was saying!!!. this song is actually about a girl who is married to some man who is considered an 'upstanding citizen' (as religious leaders usually are hence the whole alter thing) but she begins to suspect that he's sleeping with someone else. as indicated by the 'paper-trail line' she begins to look around and finds out that it's true and more (hence the hair in in this toiletry bag). she finds out that the girl he's sleeping with is more than some prostitute, he actually loves her. so in reality his wife has become the whore: "Who takes the place of your beautiful face if he loves her?" And the guy who is singing the song? well he loves the girl he's singing about but she refuses to have an affair with him because she's devoted to her husband. so he's using the evidence of her husband sleeping with another girl to convince her to divorce him. i think that makes more sense sry about that huge thing up there! |

NO COMMENTS??? wow sullivan deserves better than this, fantastic band btw. I love the deep rifts between the sweet melody in the chorus. what a catchy sound. This track is the most elusive on on the whole cd and i have to say i am extremely puzzled (which is terribly embarassing to admit). I think it is an attack against those who just sorta throw off the atonement like it's nothing: "How dare you treat this the same way Lavish homes but vanished hearts" and how he wants to change the world with the light of Christ: "Last night I wrote you a letter and it changed the world" because all that Christ requires is your heart (aka your love) in exchange for his soul (literally) but the singer will wait until the time is right and when he is ready: "I’ll hold my breath Until the story ends I’d wait for you Until till you tell me when Ooo When?" but the first two stanzas are really confusing to my simple mind =). help please? |

OMGOsh na huh? ur brothers r seriously opening for SULLIVAN! wow too cool. well neway i think this song is about a girl who basically has fallen in love with a guy who was really too good to be true. In this line: "You'll lie in his sheets and you hear how he speaks at the altar, yet his toiletry bag is still lit with other girls hair." It's saying that she's sleeping with him thinking how he's so fantasic (hence the whole alter cause priests are constantly thought of as perfect) but she fails to allow herself to see his faults (like sleeping with other girls) because liking him is really more about herself than about him: "You're on and you're off but you're up to something, it's a cry for help. Was it worth it to be part of something if you can't control yourself. And I told myself I wouldn't lie." She is dating him to have something to hold on to when her whole life is spinning out of control but it really is just one huge lie. And when she finally lifts the veil from her eyes and sees who he really is, she lets go of him but continues on in her parade pretending she knows how to live her life all on her own: "So don't waste my time and tell that everything I want is unfair. . . Smear on your rouge and your favorite blues tonight." The guy who is singing this loves her and probably has a close relationship with her (as suggested in this line: "Tell the world what you told me so they know how it feels.") but can't continue on knowing that she can't even admit her own feelings to herself so he wants to leave the emotional overload until she stops lying to herself: "Lock the door because I'm leaving you tomorrow. Do you always do just what you're told? Get the shovel and we'll bury you, we'll bury me." He also knows it'll end and whenit does everything will be okay and they can finally be together: "Perhaps in another life we'll be together up there. Matters of heartbreak and time, spirits in tandem with mine... I'm so glad it's over." WHAT A THUGTASTIC SONG! and sorry for making up this crazy analysis that - now that i look back on it - doesn't even really piece together! i heart criticism by the way. |

| I love sullivan with a deep burning passion but sometimes their lyrics seem a bit too elusive and hardly fit in with the rest of the song. like i get that this song has a lot to do with religion (being a christian band) with sullivan saying that they r trying to make their way to perfection but it's turning out to be a bit more difficult they they thought it would be and they need someone to help them out (Help me out/Flash the lights) and he's also apologizing/whining how perfection is such a far-fetched goal and they'll never be as good as Christ (I can't be a better a boy then the one you had before) but please save me neway (Don't try and leave me here). And he is also acknowledging the fact that his exit out of all his problems and sins is to let the gosple into his life (Find your exit/Find your exit/Don't you wanna find your exit/'Cause the door swings both ways)A lot of it is him comparing himself to Christ and asking him to accept his faults (hence the: We'll get along, we'll get along/I swear just lock the door/And who knows/We might be floating on for two long) i think. But a LOT of their lines are just so random i have no idea what they mean like: As the rain seeps though your aged and tired dress, or the whole stanza about wolves. what the heck? any thoughts? | |
