somebody committed suicide and made a videotape for everyone who will miss them. they had a "perfect day" and thought it would be wonderful to end all my miseries now, after such a lovely day. "This is my way of saying goodbye Because I can't do it face to face" if i ever committed suicide, i'd like to die peacefully after a wonderful day with the people i love, not anxious and depressed. do something great before i die. the character of the song might think he is the happiest he could ever be and die happy. of course it could be somebody dying off cancer or something, knowing there is no much time left so they kill themselves when they are the most happiest. i don't know. but what i do know is that this is the most perfect song i've heard in a long time. |

unfortunately i know this story too well.... touching lyrics. i don't like the song but lyrics are almost too honest... sexual abuse kills. it really does. then one day you wake up, see you have grown up and completely dead inside. |

i get a really intense feeling of death when i listen to this song and read the lyrics. to comment the video: there's a man who's repeatedly being run over (literally) and ignored by the rest of the world... because of his coat. you see when he takes off his coat and when he notices the cars are drivong over IT, not him, he gets power and doesn't let himself get hurt anymore. he destroys the things that threaten him. the coat is a symbol of something.... abuse in childhood, something that makes him vulnerable and lets himself get hurt again and again, and not caring about it. when he's wearing the coat and the guys in car ask him "where you're going mate", he just waves his hand meaning Go away. the coat symbols being a victim, and wearing the coat is letting himself be victimized again and again. he realizes the only way he can get away from this circle is to deal with the things that haunt him. so he takes his coat off. ... but the song definately isn't about Jacob's Ladder. it has been a big influence but this song isn't a soundtrack for it or something. |

i really respect you people putting so much thought in this song. it's wonderful to read these things. to me motion picture soundtrack about death. it is amazing ending for a perfect album... i have never ever heard an album like Kid A, every song completes the earlier one. it's almost like there aren't 'songs', just a solid piece of music that goes on, and every song gives more to the story. it's just pure perfection. |

| it's about a relationship that has died. the narrator is thinking he was "stronger and better" when the relationship began, they were doing great... but then something happened and all that love turned into "never mind". they faced a problem in their relationship they couldn't deal with, and that problem became just overwhelming. love started to fade away, they got tired of arguing. the narrator seems really desperate and depressed, but trying to think "is there any way we can get through this?" but is so tired he can't do anything but "Sit down, Let it fall". | |

i find it really interesting how many different ideas people have of these songs. i don't think radiohead lyrics are pointless! radiohead isn't a punk band that says things straight, you really have to think and find your own meaning for the songs. don't lose your faith, qut-tar troubadour! people can understand same lyrics in so many different ways, and it's really interesting to read everybody's views of them. to me this is clearly about USA after 9/11, and the last verse is pretty much about George W. Bush. " When I turn around you stay frozen to the spot" - he can't change, learn to see things differently, pot calling the kettle black in the iraq thing (who REALLY has weapons of mass destruction, iraq or USA??) personally i don't think bush would have got himself re-elected if there wasn't the terrorist attacks on 2001. he really took advantage of it, politically. this is the way i see it. |

sometimes i listen to this song loud, on repeat and go into a small psychosis. i feel so much, my heart breaks in million pieces... jamie sings so desperately, he's screaming and trying to wake brian up, it's just so overwhelming. and when the buzzing and screeching part comes, i feel like dying because i relate to the song so strongly. it's horribly painful but i like it. |

in my world it's like this: little girl being sexually abused as a child. he told not to tell anyone. she's got a urge to tell but she can't.... very frustrating and hopeless situation. the second half of the song is about the girl all grown up, finding herself in another hopeless, exploitative love affair with a married man. she knows she can't ever have that man to herself, and that she's just being used again but she doesn't care... it's all she knows. she doesn't know about real love, everything is just sex. i strongly relate to this song. it's so amazingly sad and hopeless. |
