A Weather – Midday Moon Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The chorus: I'm waiting for midday moon. Midday moon. I assume mIdday moon refers to the term "land of the midday moon" - the winter days of nearly all darkness in the North, when the sun barely rises. I love "a broom sweeping up its own bristle." So sad and futile, it just breaks my heart. |

I agree... nicely said. |
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy – A Beast For Thee Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Ugh. This song just kills me. A couple of corrections though. It's "Why AREN'T you kind to me?" This is the key to the rest of the lyrics. It's not a love song, but a torch song. It's a faulted, fucked up man (the kind we all know too well) but whose heart is completely at the mercy of this other person. The other correction is "Overcome and FLAY all fears." |
Smog – Dress Sexy At My Funeral Lyrics | 18 years ago |
What better way to send off your dead husband than by celebrating the moments when as a couple you lived the most? And isn't that what Bill's saying, that helping your fellow man and giving to charity is great, but nothing compared to that amazingly close companionship? I want this to be my wife. And then, almost as if he's crying out in a way that doesn't even fit into words, that Tweedy-like falsetto. Awesome. "For the first time in your life" is the only thing that throws me. It says that either A) The whole song is a fantasy, or B) His wife's sexuality has always been reserved for her husband alone and now, as a eulogy, he wants her to tell the world. I'm going with B. |
