Belle & Sebastian – If You Find Yourself Caught in Love Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm not certain if this song is about thanking god for having a love, or if it's about moving on past your old love. Put This Book Back on the Shelf (the anthology based on B & S songs) considers this song to be about moving on, and I kinda' get that feeling when I hear this tune.

Still, it's a beautifully catchy lick, and it belongs in a museum, honestly.
Makes me quite chipper to hear.

Electric Six – Synthesizer Lyrics 17 years ago
Electric Six and elaborate meanings don't usually go hand in hand.
This ones about how awesome his synthesizer is, and how music can change the world.
Hooray.

New Radicals – You Get What You Give Lyrics 17 years ago
I've sung this one alot, and lemme' tell ya', it wreaks havoc on the trachea and soft pallet. Oh man...
Best part's at the end (FDA Big Bankers Buying), but make sure to take a huge, diaphragmatic breath or your screwed. Why? That whole verse has zero breaths in it. Talent, no?

Van Morrison – Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile) Lyrics 18 years ago
A little sidebar here, Jackie Wilson is a rather famous singer, especially around Van's time. You probably know him from the song (Taking Me) Higher and Higher. However, that's not to say any of you don't know who Jackie is. Just in case, y'know.

Van Morrison – Moondance Lyrics 18 years ago
If Van used it, it must be a real word.

This song is one of my all time favourites. I can't stand artists who stay in one genre and never waver from it. Those are the ones who fizzle out after losing steam. I'm always a fan' o' Van.

Belle & Sebastian – If She Wants Me Lyrics 18 years ago
The way I see it, he's saying, "Screw being remembered, i won't be alive for that." He's right though. It's great to leave your mark on the world, but it's much more fun to do something fun that you'll actually be around for. It's like... Van Gogh wasn't credited for being a famous painter until after his death. So i'm thinking, would Van Gogh rather have posthumous fame, or a good time during his life?

Stuart, you're a genius.

Broken Social Scene – KC Accidental Lyrics 18 years ago
ThouMeej is right, this song sounds much better on the album. Damn, you put that CD in and you totally get blown away. That album was a friggin' rollercoaster, you can't know what to expect.

Talking Heads – Psycho Killer Lyrics 18 years ago
To answer your question, Rasputin... The Ramones didn't get along with anyone.

Mm, Talking Heads existed in a time before everything had to be classified, so they just jumped from style to style and that's what makes 'em so god damn good. Psycho Killer is by far, my all time favourite song ever. It shows that David Byrne's vocal range is godlike, and it shows that lyrics are only one part of a song, not the whole thing.

Radiohead – Idioteque Lyrics 18 years ago
The song talks about a host of problems, but I think you need to think cumulitively.

Mankind has all these horrible issues that may just wipe us out, but we don't pay any attention because we are too obsessed with human drama.

The main idea, I think, is stop thinking about that girlfriend or that new car, and start thinking about the earth and the world around you.

War – Why Can't We Be Friends? Lyrics 18 years ago
Alright, lemme' take a whack at this one.

Far as I can tell, the singer is most likely african-american, hinted at mainly by the line "The color of your skin don't matter to me", or maybe the person he's talking about is. Either way, there's a racial thing goin' on here.
The speaker believes that in every way that he is compatible with this guy, and that they could quite easily be friends. However, the racial barrier stands between these two people and for that simple reason, he can't assosciate himself with them. The song simply addresses that skin colour shouldn't be a parameter in any way, shape or form, and that people who only see people and not race, will have the best lot in life.

It just goes to show, racism is just plain stupid, everytime, all the time.
I can totally identify with this one.

Project Orange – Tell All Your Friends Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm so glad I stumbled across these guys. I gotta' admit, it's a little scary delving into their french stuff, but it's totally worth it.

Even if it is in English, this song totally amazes me. However, this meaning totally escapes me. I've looked at the lyrics a few times, but I just can't get it.

The Beatles – Drive My Car Lyrics 18 years ago
Role reversal sounds like a definate yes. However, Beatles songs tend to seem sexually driven, but are usually in fact just random scenarios involving a dame and a dude. Haha, but yeah, it probably is.

Belle & Sebastian – White Collar Boy Lyrics 18 years ago
In my opinion, although it's just mine and not yours,
this song is all about how even in the toughest situations, even when you're at the bottom of the barrel, screwed beyond belief, you can always have fun. If you try to play it too straight line, or white collar as they say, you're just gonna' have an awful experience. However, if you embrace the situation, and decide to flee from the comfort of a straight line, you might just enjoy yourself.

It's a cute moral, and the song itself is fun as hell. Belle & Sebastian continue to amaze me.
