Consider The Thief – Joshua Lyrics | 14 years ago |
freakin awesome song. makes me smile thinking back to the stories of joshua i heard when i was a child. not a bad band too. very much for fans of thrice though :) |
Mumford & Sons – White Blank Page Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think he says You did not think when you sent me to the BRINK, the BRINK |
Thrice – Red Telephone Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'm not sure the lines "Someone tell me that I'm dreaming" and "Someone wake me up" are sung by dustin. maybe ed? |
Thrice – Talking Through Glass Lyrics | 14 years ago |
lyrics updated guys. i finally got a hard copy of the album. took a few more days down here in aus. |
Brand New – At the Bottom Lyrics | 14 years ago |
no offense to vin, but i greatly prefer jesse's songs. jesse is a far better lyricist than vin. |
Thrice – The Great Exchange Lyrics | 14 years ago |
agreed. definately my fave atm. great to sing along too |
Thrice – Talking Through Glass Lyrics | 14 years ago |
same same! brooks. in fact i think it is a very similiar song lyrically too. i get vibes of frustration in a relationship from this one. |
Thrice – Doublespeak Lyrics | 15 years ago |
cheers for the tip jrdoyle |
Thrice – Wood and Wire Lyrics | 15 years ago |
yeah, and the struggle he has being ok with what is happening. |
Thrice – At The Last Lyrics | 15 years ago |
yeah. reading the first verse, i think dustin probably let it get a bit out of control. seems like it had a bit of a "cold cash" vibe lyrically. |
Thrice – Doublespeak Lyrics | 15 years ago |
yeah. buy the album digitally and then buy the cd release, apparantly it's gonna have some extra stuff |
Thrice – Doublespeak Lyrics | 15 years ago |
has to be the 1984 influence |
Thrice – Beggars Lyrics | 15 years ago |
yeah. it is grace. thanks. >.< |
Thrice – Beggars Lyrics | 15 years ago |
just what i'm hearing by ear. |
British India – I Said I'm Sorry Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Way to steal lyrics from another band. Brand New - Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades. |
Thrice – Moving Mountains Lyrics | 16 years ago |
just to throw something different in, i thought it might have been something to do with the earth. like the sonnets. but it obviously isn't a sonnet. And with closer inspection it probably holds more truth with the actions/ motives, or works/ grace, model. |
Every Time I Die – INRIhab Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i thought it was dallas to juno... great song. i love how that initial riff isn't in a standard timing. makes it sound all wrong, but in every time i die's case, oh so right! "because I'd rather live my life in regret than not take part in it." |
Thrice – The Flame Deluge Lyrics | 16 years ago |
im so sick of people pointing out "obvious" religious meaning. dustin makes reference to the bible a heck of a lot, but often he just uses it as a reference to explain something else. this song may have some biblical reference, but no religious undertones. other thrice songs however, try 'the messenger'. or most of vhiessu. |
Thrice – Burn the Fleet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yeah definately saocore thats cool does anyone think some of the fire stuff, this song and the arsonist, sound familiar to some deftones stuff? |
Thrice – The Arsonist Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think its about refinement not so much the reckoning. the telltale heart reference is cool. specially cause it has the "ticking" drums when dustin sings that line. just reminds me of the ticking/beating underneath the floor boards |
Thrice – Digital Sea Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yeah, famously qouted "I think, therefore i am" amazing song here my voices goes to ones and zeros dustin always finds a new way to blow me away |
Norma Jean – No Passenger : No Parasite Lyrics | 17 years ago |
numbheart; its very tough to think anything other then what you think. believe me, i struggle with that everyday. i am a christian; i am proud of what i believe, i will admit to what i believe but the way christianity especially is carried out in our civilization makes it increasingly difficult to take seriously or take on board. the only way christianity or Christ for that matter can be witnessed today is through "christians" and just because someone is a christian doesnt mean they are perfect, or even anywhere near it at times, so unfortunately this portrait of christianity is often tarnished by the very person trying to convey it to others. The only thing that gets my by this bitterness and train of thought is that what i believe in isnt dictated by my fellow christians or the people around me. It is from God, of God, to me. no-one else has anything to do with it. so any problem i have with anything is between me and God. and any if i have a problem with someone else, what they are doing, or what they believe i adopt the same approach i use for myself; that is is between them and God. anyway, i just thought i would share that cause it seems like you have experienced hipocracy and imperfection through a believer. anyway, i hope it helped, anyone. |
Norma Jean – Cemetery Like a Stage Lyrics | 17 years ago |
what an amazing and moving song. i agree, best off the album. broken and unbroken - amazing |
Norma Jean – Like Swimming Circles Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah... definately. its gotta be about the whole christian hardcore scene and people getting wrapped up in it for the wrong reasons. |
Norma Jean – The Longest Lasting Statement Lyrics | 17 years ago |
nice job with the lyrics formaldan |
Norma Jean – The Longest Lasting Statement Lyrics | 17 years ago |
here you go all you crazy "wanna make every song a christian artist writes directly about a christian principle" people. you can go nuts with this song. |
Norma Jean – Amnesty Please Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its definately got a two sides aspect. and Jesus would not engage in an argument with a person. it would more be a person argueing with God. "holding a gun" "been so bitter towards you"; lines like that suggest some type of argument/battle. so i would have to agree with systembranden |
Norma Jean – The End of All Things Will Be Televised Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"the seas are boiling". that is such an awesome thing to think about. how scary |
Norma Jean – A Small Spark Vs. a Great Forest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah definately. "toungue is a flame" |
Norma Jean – Blueprints for Future Homes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
pretty sure this song would be about what aceXVI said. and blueprints for future homes is making reference to their home, maybe. i just figure the blueprints for a house deal with how the house is built and made, but the blueprints for a HOME is how the home, or people in it function. i would say it is about something more domestic then universally christian. it goes along the same lines as amnesty please. they seem to be about the same thing. to me anyway. |
Poison the Well – You Will Not Be Welcomed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one armed cow... i would recomend norma jean, though they are slightly heavier then ptw. norma's latest, redeemer, reminds me so much of this latest ptw album. edgy but still so artistic and amazing. this song is clearly about breaking up with someone as everyone has said. one armed cow seems pretty right with the communication thing. it also seems like he was using her. sustenance, referencing to eating her. i dont know just throwing ideas around. |
The Sound of Animals Fighting – The Heretic Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ie. i agree with ditch |
The Sound of Animals Fighting – The Heretic Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i don't think its about God. Feels to me like some kind of self purging more then a song about God. |
The Sound of Animals Fighting – Horses In The Sky Lyrics | 17 years ago |
get over anthony green. craig suits this song way better. anthony suits the ones he sings. its probably like that for a reason |
The Sound of Animals Fighting – Un'Aria Lyrics | 17 years ago |
sweatersdotcom can go die. (i dont mean it) craig pisses all over anthony simple for the fact that craig owens can sing live and anthony can not. don't get me wrong though; anthony's voice is amazing |
mewithoutYou – A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hey all. I was trying to find something to do and this song kinda grabbed my attention. i like the metaphor the title draws. With the many times i have listened to this song tonight i came across some small discrepencies in what i was hearing and reading in regard to the lyrics so i have taken what was done so far, which was a great job, and added and changed things moderately to accomodate. Enjoy. I can't think of any words here that don't sound as they are written. A cat came drifting onto my porch from the outside cold And with eyes closed, drinking warm milk from my bowl, Thought: "nobody hears me! Nobody hears me! Cause I crept in so soft! Nobody sees me! Nobody sees me” as I watched six steps off like the peacocks wandering the walkways of the zoo who have twice the autonomy giraffes and the tigers do, Saying: "no one can stop me, no one can stop me, no one clips my claws! Now everyone watch me, everyone watch me scale these outside walls!" Oh you pious and profane, Put away your praise and blame, a glass can only spill what it contains To the perpetually plain and the incurably inane a glass can only spill what it contains what new mystery is this? What blessed backwardness? The Immeasurable One is held and does not resist! Struck by wicked words and foolish fists of sensible men The Almighty One does not defend! I was halfway listening to what she thinks she knows we’re like children dressing in our parents' clothes, Saying: "Nobody knows me, Nobody knows me, no one knows my name, nobody knows me... nobody knows me... nobody knows me...” I half-heartedly explained but gave up peacefully ashamed a glass can only spill what it contains we went to Portugal and Spain and in her mind the entire time it rained! a glass can only spill what it contains what new mystery is this? In overflowing emptiness the Invisible is seen among the shadows and the mist, before my doubting eyes the Infinite appears in time - the Unquestionable is questioned but makes no reply! What new mystery is this?! What new mystery is this?! "My Rabbi!" my lips betray me with a kiss What new mystery is this?! |
Underoath – A Moment Suspended in Time Lyrics | 18 years ago |
thanks again LifeMeansBitter. good catch owen. the whole tornado drill theory would explain alot of the weird, seemingly random comments about the desk and such, but i think the tornado drill is still just a metaphor. Maybe for how we need to lose or almost lose things to see their true value. I am a christian but i will admit it gets visciously annoying when we try to over apply God and Christianity into things that may be simply about life itself. And seeing God created life and all things, then why do we need to over apply and seemingly over compensate for our Belief. Just a thought. |
Thrice – Of Dust And Nations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
definately a song against bling (lol) definately brilliant biblical qoutes and c.s. lewis reference (i think c.s. lewis should be included in some modern day bible) Definately a song about putting emphasis on who you are more than what you own this song also reminded my of "Ozymandias" all in all i love this song, got to play it in church one time. made my day |
Thrice – Image of the Invisible Lyrics | 18 years ago |
of course what i have just said does not apply for everyone who raises a difference of opion; but just those who do it disrespectfull |
Thrice – Image of the Invisible Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Personally i am growing sick of the whole "battle" over what the song means on the whole and what it means subjectively. You cannot doubt that a song with biblical qoutes and christian reference has a meaning non-linear to it's inspiration. But also what the song means to you, what it evokes in you is completely your opinion. Other people may have read the same vibe or felt the same way as you (in regards to the song) but it doesn't change what the song was initially written about. Obviously the flaw in what I am saying would come from the fact that i did not know what Dustin was meaning to say with this. What I am really trying to say is that people should either use this website to share what the song means to THEM, or maturely debate about POSSIBLE MEANINGS the writer was trying to convey. Sorry if i seem a bit rowdy, but i find it very annoying that people who obviously enjoy the great band that is Thrice are using space that could be and should be used as a credit to their wonder for petty bickering about relatively pointless things. |
