The Like – June Gloom Lyrics

I watched the like play at the download festival a couple of weeks ago. They rocked. :D This song is kind of the situation I'm in right now. I graduated from high school this summer and my friends all started leaving 'one by one.' We still keep in touch, but already I can feel everyone drifting apart. And we do 'want another way,' but that's life for you. =/ |

The Format – She Doesn't Get It Lyrics

I watched the Format play last night at Slim's in San Francisco. It was an amazing show! Anyway, Nate introduced this song as being about "a one night stand that never happened." The Format rocks. |

Leonard Cohen – Take This Waltz Lyrics

The lyrics are actually a translation, or rather interpretation, of a poem by Frederico Garcia Lorca called "Pequeño Valz Vienes." An interpretation because as a translation, it seems, it is not perfect and is slightly altered by Cohen to fit the context and rhythm of the song. I like how he has an almost roundabout way of saying things. It's really poetic. I really like this song. |

Leonard Cohen – Lover, Lover, Lover Lyrics
| 18 years ago

It's like a conversation with God. The instrumentation of the song makes it a sort of chant (listen to the rhythmic guitar and primitive percussion), especially in the chorus where Cohen repeats "lover, lover." I had a dream where a cult in robes was chanting this song outside their "savior's" home. Weird. I really like this song. |

Yo La Tengo – Center of Gravity Lyrics

This one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm trying to convince my band mates to play this song at an upcoming acoustic set at a friend's café.
"Your clever cuts into me." I love it. |

Bell X1 – Trampoline Lyrics

This song seems to be about the author's misfortune with his relationship. The relationship being the "Trampoline" that always bounced them back up to grace. Not even phone calls help. I really love the "You and I learned to live without solid ground." They learned to live on the relationship alone. And we, or rather some, Americans do care. |

Leonard Cohen – So Long, Marianne Lyrics

I learned to play this song. I've always seen it as a sad serenading song. Especially with the "come over to the window" part. It seems like him and Marianne are still friends, even though they are broken up and saying good bye. |

Ambulance LTD – Heavy Lifting Lyrics

A friend made me listen to this band and now I can't stop listening. The break about 2 mins into the song reminds of Dear Prudence by the Beatles. |
