Young the Giant – Cough Syrup Lyrics 12 years ago
The following is not my interpretation, but the actual song meaning from the lead vocalist, Sameer Gadhia.

The song was written as a cry for help when the band was broke and didn't know what to do with themselves. Frontman Sameer Gadhia explained the group "felt somewhat oppressed by the universal expectation of what to do in Orange County... in suburbia in general. I think we really yearned to break out of that and do something a little bit different." Gadhia added that the song was their attempt to "break free, not necessarily from oppression, but the common symptoms of suburbia like boredom, normality and homogeneity."

Hope this helps. I appreciate everyone's interpretation and such, but wild theories just mislead fans.

Dia Frampton – Billy The Kid Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is self-explanatory for the most part. I just wanted to add that the song gives a nod to a song of the same title by Tom Petty - completely different lyrics and meaning though - and that Tom Petty is one of Dia Frampton's favorite musicians.

[Personal note: I have been a fan of Dia (and her sister Meg) for overhalf a decade. In 2006, her band performed at my university, and Ipurchased their album Something Real, which they were generous enoughto autograph. Needless to say, when I saw Dia Frampton perform on TheVoice, I got very excited. I am glad to see that she's finally gettingthe exposure she deserves.]

Dia Frampton – Good Boy Lyrics 12 years ago
This is a lyrically brilliant song by Dia Frampton. Amidst its happy tone, the underlying meaning of the lyrics is very dark.

The bottom line is that the song is about a child molester who is abusing Charlie. It may help if you imagine most of the lyrics being words and thoughts of the child molester.

A child molester moves into the town, and starts to abuse Charlie. He tells Charlie that he is a "good boy" so that Charlie won't tell on the abuser. The bridge of the song has the molester asking Charlie, "You can keep a secret right? Right. I can trust you with my life? Right." The secret, of course, is that Charlie is being abused, and the molester is saying that their time together is their own secret and that Charlie shouldn't tell others.

In the first verse, the molester tries to show Charlie that he can give Charlie the love that Charlie did not receive from his "runaway dad," of whom Charlie has a picture.

As Charlie grows up, he starts to rebel, as is the case of children who have been abused. He kept the molester's secrets, and his mother never does find out; both she and the priest are confused about what happened to Charlie.

Skye Sweetnam – Human Lyrics 16 years ago
The song is self-explanatory for the most part, and I agree with what justgottakill said. It's slightly humorous that there's a verse that goes:
"It's in the air you breathe
It's hidden up their sleeves
They're even marketing
what I say right now
Watch out!"

The Last Goodnight – This is the Sound Lyrics 16 years ago
This is my favorite song from The Last Goodnight's Poison Kiss. I think the chorus and bridge of this song explains the song fairly well.

AndrewJG, I really like your interpretation! Being real is what the song may be hinting at. Great job.

Rob Thomas – Little Wonders Lyrics 17 years ago
Hi, Everyone. I interpreted this song quite a bit differently from all of the comments already posted. At the beginning of the song, it seems as if a a major event in a person's life has just ended. From there, the writer points out that no matter how things may have turned out, not only relating to the most recent events but also those in a person's past, in the long run, a person will only remember how he or she felt.

The little points in an event won't be important in the future, and how a person feels matter much more. The writer doesn't seem to care about the big things or the little things, but that "the heart," or how one feels, is what "really matters in the end."

Thanks to my girlfriend for letting me know about this song. She was singing it while the ending credits of Meet the Robinsons were rolling. I just really heard this song today for the very first time.

Hinder – Lips of an Angel Lyrics 17 years ago
I was having the same problem that Decessus had, but linds/sapphireskies really cleared it up for me!

I also heard "my cousin" the very first time I heard the song, and was surprised to see "my girl" instead when I checked the lyrics.

Thanks so much,

Teddy Geiger – For You I Will (Confidence) Lyrics 18 years ago
xo.butterfly,
That was one of the best post I have seen on this site in quite some time. Really, most people just give meanings that do not make sense or do not really try that hard to explain a song, but wow, it just seems like you gave it your all. I really like this song as well (I pre-ordered Teddy Geiger's debut album over a week ago and just picked it up today), and am happy to see a fan like you. Take care! =)
