Jude – I Know Lyrics
|
I've been listening to Jude since high school. He's one of the best virtually unknown artists out there, in my opinion. He might get a little more attention now that this song's been featured on House. I love the way this song is almost a waltz. "Your best friend in life is not your mirror"... |

You know I appreciate the finer things
But it's not what makes me happiest baby
(I can do without a thing)
You miss that part? |

Foo Fighters – Skin and Bones Lyrics

I absolutely love this song, especially the bits with the accordion. Only Dave Grohl could work an accordion into a song and still have it be hardcore awesome. |

Aqualung – Arrivals Lyrics

I can't believe no one's commented on this song yet! It's SO beautiful to listen to. From the lyrics it almost sounds as if someone has died, but I'm not sure. I just love the melody and his voice. |

Dave Matthews – Gravedigger Lyrics
|
At the Camden show this year Dave said, "This is a song about taking a walk" before he played this. I had no idea what song he would play until it started, then I realized that it makes sense - the inspiration for this song could well have come from Dave just taking a walk through a graveyard and seeing all the different names and dates on the headstones, and imagining their stories. |

U2 – Miracle Drug Lyrics

His name was Christopher Nolan. He ended up becoming a very influential writer, and yep, the song is about him. Makes sense if you really listen to the lyrics. |

Dave Matthews Band – Shake Me Like a Monkey Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
This was the first song leaked to the public from Big Whiskey, I think. I remember a couple of months ago seeing a YouTube video of a few fans getting to listen to a track from the new album in studio. I think they played them Grux and Shake Me Like a Monkey. Anyway, it's an AMAZING song. I think it's my favorite track off the new album. |

Dave Matthews Band – Baby Blue Lyrics
|
I don't think this song is necessarily about a specific person, rather that it is about several people at once. Primarily I think it's about his sister, because that just makes sense, but it could also be partially about LeRoi (even though he didn't have blue eyes), perhaps even about his daughter(s) (do both of them have blue eyes?). It's a song of mourning and rememberance. |

Dave Matthews – An' Another Thing Lyrics

I think maybe Dave knew that his fans would recognize that this was a follow-up to "Little Thing," and so it was just "another thing" - a continuation. |

PJ Harvey – Sixteen, Fifteen, Fourteen Lyrics

Really simple lyrics but amazing song. Wouldn't expect anything less from PJ. And I think it actually is Danielle, because she sings, "Danielle is hiding, she's counting." |

Jude – Brad and Suzy Lyrics

This song is amazing; basically all of Jude's songs are. I can't believe no one's commented yet. Obviously about two very shallow people living the life of luxury... |

Can anyone translate? I can understand some French, but not enough to figure out what she's singing about. |

The Rapture – No Sex For Ben Lyrics

My friend and I first heard this song on the radio in the car. We spent the duration of the song trying to figure out if they were saying "No sex for Ben" or "No sexy, Ben." |

Dave Matthews Band – Hunger for the Great Light Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
This is such an overtly sexual song, pretty much unlike any other Dave and the band have written. The "great light" is probably an orgasm. Conservative people must be so horrified by this song - it seems like it's going to be about God or relgion, but then surprise! Nope, it's about sex. The live version on Weekend at the Rocks is awesome, especially when Dave changes the lyrics to "I want to go down ON you" and kind of laughs. |

Jack Johnson – Banana Pancakes Lyrics

Such a sweet, sweet song. I would die if a man sang this to me, or even just acted out the lyrics - made me banana pancakes, insisted we stay in bed all day... |

Rainer Maria – Terrified Lyrics

To me, this song is just about being with someone you really like/love, and you're both just so terrified and happy at the same time. |

Ana Serrano Van Der Laan – Paradise Lyrics

I'm surprised no one's commented on this song yet! It's so good. It was a free download on iTunes a while ago, and it' s been featured in Dove commercials. It's just a fun, kind of mellow song. I've no idea what the Spanish bit means...does anyone know? |

Definitely a play on the word "anamoly." Really cool song! Especially since I think I'm an anamoly myself...haha. |

I always thought this song was about drunk driving, but going deeper and looking at it as a metaphor for life is much smarter. :-) |

PJ Harvey – O Stella Lyrics
|
My friend's name is Maria Stella, but she likes to be called Stella. I always say this song is about her, but she hates it. How anyone could hate PJ Harvey, I don't know, but she's weird.
Obviously about an icon hanging somewhere, probably in a church or something. |

Maroon 5 – Harder To Breathe Lyrics
|
A lot of people seem to think that the line is "Not fit to fucking tread the ground that I am walking on" but it's funk. I think it's so funny how radio stations will censor it and so on just because that's what it sounds like. |

Dave Matthews Band – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
I've never been so lucky to hear this in concert, but I do have the Live in Chicago CD, and judging by how spectacular All Along the Watchtower is on disc, it must just blow you away live. I hope I'll have the occasion to hear them play it one day. That would just make my life.
And I have loads of respect for both Bob Dylan, who wrote the song, and Jimi Hendrix too. They are/were both geniuses and deserve credit for what they did with the song. I just think Dave's version is the best because, well, I love Dave. |

PJ Harvey – Kamikaze Lyrics
|
This is such a POWER song. But then again, pretty much all of PJ's songs are like that. One thing...I always thought the line was "One TOOTH for one eye," because of the whole "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" theory. It just makes a little more sense. |

The Knife – We Share Our Mother's Health Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
Oh my god, I love this song to death. All my friends hate it, but it just takes some getting used to (I'm not exactly known as a fan of Swedish electronica...I lean towards Dave Matthews Band and O.A.R.). It's SO FREAKING COOL. Listen to it. Now.
Now, as for an interpretation...I have absolutely no idea. My English teacher told me that whenever an apple is mentioned in literature or any kind of media, it probably has something to do with Adam and Eve, so I'm guessing the above speculations are probably accurate. Although Karin and Olof are kind of strange, so maybe they just slapped some random words together. But I think they're smarter than that. |

XTC – I'm The Man Who Murdered Love Lyrics

I can't believe no one's commented on this song! It's so great. Kind of a creepy pretense, but it's so catchy. It was on one of the first episodes of Gilmore Girls, I think. I love the part where he shouts "Oh! It's the middle of the song!" |

Ryan Adams – Shakedown on 9th Street Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
I can't believe only one person has commented on this song! It's so fantastic and fun. I love every Ryan Adams song, but this is one of his catchier ones, like "To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High." So much fun to dance to. I'm not really sure what it means, though. What's a kicking machine? |
