| Its funny 'cus I wan't even trying to be imaginative! I heard it when I was about 15 and it was an immediate thought and its not like I was particularly grown up or drawing from experience. I just assumed that WAS what it was about and that everybody else automatically knew it too. I can't believe she would have written it without realising what it sounded like in any case. Can't believe there aren't more similar comments.. It seems such an obvious interpretation, one which it is hard NOT to see even if just in a *snigger* - innuendo kind of way. It makes me think that a lot of commenters maybe aren't experienced. Yes I thought it was about sex too, the lyrics just make it seem so. Came here to check and somehow nobody had said it for a while! I was young when I first heard the song so the meaning totally passed by me but a few years ago when I heard it again it was pretty obvious. "Elevate me" = elevate a certain part of his anatomy hmm? "At the corner of your lips, As the orbit of your hips" pretty sexual, could be the cause of the "elevation" "I've got no self-control" - again sounds like being caught up in a sexual moment "Now going down, excavation" - going down... yeah, subtexty.. or just 'texty' "Maybe you can educate my mind, Explain all these controls" - teach him about sex, what she likes, the controls for her anatomy, the parts he doesn't have or know what to do with. "I and I in the sky, You make me feel like I can fly" - orgasm methinks.. |

| anyways I love this song, I was trumpeter in my college Funk band and we did this in our first year lots. I didn't really think of the lyrics until we were watching some documntary and my mum said she was known to be a lesbian, and I thoguht oh, the song could have a totally different meaning, esp. if she had wanted the meaning fairly well hidden. | |

voodoochilde, do you mean she thought she shouldn't like girls and so she could be singing it like the son of a preacher man was a metaphor for a girl because she felt at the time it was sinning?? (She could be sining it this way even if she didn't write it.) I always thought that maybe it could be about the fact that she did like girls but wasn't comfortable about that, and wanted to like guys and that there was one guy 'the only guy who could ever reach me' who she acdtually did feel for and this made her happy 'cus she felt safer and like she fitted in, but perhaps there was some reason why they shouldn't get together which made her feel guilty, perhaps because she thoguht she would never like him as much as a girl or something.. |

just like in song for Ten it mentions that she is his star. but i dont really know who this is about, i would say Rose but he was never gona stay put for her. that was my fave bit of the 10th doctor, i love his holographhic goodbye and those lines were the ones which made me cry.. the bit about walking then running really reminded me of Rose, when she nearly doesn't follow him but then he comes back and she breaks into a run and its all slowed down and another fave bit. u think its all from Tenth Doc's point of view, cus i thought she was following his star really. |

well i heard this first when i was fairly young and I liked it instantly and assumed it was about someone saying he was giving up drugs because they don't make life better thought you may think so with the high because its good for a while but overall your real 'sound thinking' life is worse, and that he hopes his girlfriend would get off the drugs too but he would regardless of whether she did, he knew she would eventually get off drugs (see her face again) but it would be hard and sad.. i basically got hat from "Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But I know I'll see your face again" i never thought of thre lyrics again until just now when i reaslied they did sound a whole lot like soeone going through chemo because it might not worka nd makes you feel sicker in the process which sin;t good if its the last bit of life you have.. maybe its better to live life than drag it out with something unnnatural which isn;t how its s'posed to be.. i like both.. probaly the first more actually... |

i agree with rogerwaters987 i thought that was what it was on about too cos it didnt dawn on me for ages i only listened tot he mole and ironite part and when i heard the lips and hips i linked it to elevation o_O!!! but even if it is random i like the way its always fun to listen to unlike some music.. even good music can be for some reason depending on your mood i dont think it was written for tomb raider but olive231 does indeed ahve a point. |
