TigerArmyetc.is right about Charles Mansons warped interpretation of this song(see also"Piggies" &"Helter
Skelter")but otherwise he/she is totally fucked.Why is Manson still in prison?...maybe its something to do with him & his "family" being responsible for at least a dozen murders,including 8 months pregnant Sharon Tate,who they stabbed in the stomach! Oh,& just one small inaccuracy...he was trying to START a race war! I'm sorryTiger Army,but Charlie is the DEVIL & you need to grow up! |

Ive not checked out the other 156 comments,so I may be repeating someone else...as stated,this is a Paul song written to comfort Julian Lennon during his fathers marriage break up.Its sad to think that although John could write stuff like "beautiful boy"(for Sean) it needed Paul to write a song for Julian! |

Sorry,but I cant share most peoples views on this song.Compared to great original stuff like Rubber Bullets,The Dean & I, I'm Mandy Fly Me,etc. this is rubbish...interesting that it was released after the band split,which proves to me that the real creative genius's were Godley & Creme. |

Its amazing how many different ideas there are about the origins of songs...I thought the inspiration behind this came from a Paul MaCartney visit to Bristol(my home town) to see his girlfriend of the time,Jane Aher in a play.Allegedly he saw the name on a shop front in Clifton & took it from there. |

Allegedly Mike Love demanded to know what "columnated ruins domino"was supposed to mean;-Vandyke Parks(the writer)said he had no idea! Mr.Love,also alarmed at Brian's apparent change in musical direction (away from surf music)insisted he "stopped fucking with the formula!"....in later years Brian described this song as "a piece of shit".....I'm still undecided. |
