Steely Dan – Bodhisattva Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Bodhisattva literally stands for "wisdom-being", i think this song is about a man or woman who is looking for their own enlightenment. "Take me by the hand" (teach me enlightenment), "I'm gonna sell my house in town" (relieving one self of possessions). I think that "the shine of your japan, the sparkle of china" is most definetely about nirvana, first he says "can you show me" (nirvana), then "and i'll be there" (nirvana) I also noticed that the man singing seems ancy and in a hurry, don't know if that relates. |

I think this song is about the drug laden culture people are exposed to when they have money, especially when they are stars. |

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Roger Waters' original title for 'echoes' was 'we won the double' and was also called 'return of the son of nothing'. This song seems to represent all the question marks of life on this planet, for example, verse one is about the possibility of things existing in the deep...? Or verse two, the possiblities of things existing betwixt two people...? or verse three which i think represents the question marks in the skies above, religiously or astronomical or whatever. It seems to me that Roger embraces these questions. |
Pink Floyd – Careful with That Axe, Eugene Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One of the original names for this song was "murderistic woman" which leads me to believe that it was a she with the axe not a he with the axe. Pointless information but I thought someone might care. Also, 'murderistic' is not a real word. |
