Menomena – Wet and Rusting Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The first couple of lines remind me of the story of Pandora's box. |
Nation Of Ulysses – N-sub Ulysses Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The recording of this song on Plays Pretty for Baby begins with a quote of some translations of Nietzsche's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra": "To you the bold and foolish lambs. To you who are intoxicated with riddles, let's go. Who take pleasure in twilight. Whose souls are lured by noise to every treacherous abyss. For you do not feel for a rope like cowards, and where you can guess you hate to calculate. And where others would poison, you dismember." |
Battles – Atlas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think the original chorus posted is close, but it should go: Singer is a crook, Oh, I know Singer is a crook, Oh, I know Singer is a crook, Oh, I know Singer is a crook, Oh, I know Kitchen is for cook, Oh, I know Scissors are for barbers, Oh, I know Singer is a crook, Oh, I know The Chorus doesn't really matter |

There are a lot of lyrics in this, but it is nearly impossible to make out. I think it says "people will be people when the air is still...." and then i lose it. |
!!! – Sweet Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think he says a couple of different things at the end: Just say goodbye to the stasis The sweet life Just say goodbye to the faces The sweet life Just say goodbye to the crisis The sweet life Just say goodbye to the phases The sweet life |
LCD Soundsystem – All My Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think the line after "When you're blowing eighty-five days in the middle of France" is "Yeah I know it gets tired only where are your friends tonight?" I think also that I hear "sued into submission" not "sewn into submission" but I don't know how much sense that makes and James Murphy has a way of slurring words so that the lyrics do get difficult to make out towards the end. At any rate I agree that this is basically a song about being on the cusp of adulthood. Like "The Graduate" or "Garden State" but in a musical format. |
TV on the Radio – Snakes and Martyrs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the lyrics that .tommy_doll posted are a lot closer to what I personally hear in the song. |
Fugazi – Argument Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, this song is talking about the uselessness of logic and beliefs. "when they start falling executions will commence" - this reminds me of the french revolution and the cyclic nature of empires in general "sides will not matter now matter makes no sense." - Your positions, beliefs, understandings of the world are ultimately irrelevant " how did a difference become a disease? " - The need for arguement and differences in perception among humans is infectious and can not be controlled. " i'm sure you have reasons a rational defense weapons and motives bloody fingerprints but i can't help thinking it's still all disease " - No amount of logic and reasoning is able to address the basic flaws of humans perception and understanding. "it's all about strikes now so here's what's striking me" - even he admits to holding basic beliefs; and this is obvious as historically Fugazi have been actively promoting certain viewpoints, for a modern example look at "Cashout" " that some punk could argue some moral abc's when people are catching what bombers release i'm on a mission to never agree" - In the end, he submits to the system that he admits is completely fallible. " here comes the argument " - This is Fugazi's final farewell, and it's quite touching that they could admit that everything they've ever said could easily be entirely wrong. |
