I saw the movie Drive last night and I'm still impressed by the soundtrack which fits perfect into those aesthetic scenes. I must admit that it was too much violence for me in the second part of the movie, but the strong love story implemented between the main characters caught me, so that all in all there's a positive response to this unusual movie. I think the core of the move is a tribute to the 80ies, even though I think it's still an up-to-date movie, thanks to those great pictures and scenes. I also think that it's Ryan Goslins' breakthrough establishing himself as a Hollywood Star.
In my personal opinion, thats the best song in the whole movie. I think it's a chill out song and driving through the night with this music around must be amazing. The lyrics have no special meaning to me, but I guess they are linked to a relationship which can't work. He's a mean, evil bastard and confesses to his character. She knows about that, but she ignores it, even if she should know better. For her, he's still the same (lover) like he used to be in the past. Very difficult relationship - and that's why it's such a great song opening the movie. so long. |

I've never seen a TV episode playing this song, but since 1993 I'm regularly listening to this song, because the sound and the lyrics spend so much comfort in so many situations. It's one of the few songs in which someone tells you it will be alright, no matter what happened or what will happen. It has such a calming atmosphere from the very first to the very last second. That's what makes this song so special.
It's bad luck that Sheryl turned away from the music style she was producing in the 90ies. Tuesday's Night Music Club, Sheryl Crow and the Globe Sessions are so skin deep in comparison with her dummy Popsound, starting already on her LP C'mon C'mon C'mon. I miss her old sound so much - and I still hope that she will return to her origins... |

Normalerweise höre ich wenig deutsche Musik, aber das ist ein Song der mir gut gefällt. Aufgrund des Titels "Gewinner" gehe ich davon aus dass es darum geht sich zu verlieben und aus Freundschaft mehr zu machen. Andererseits ist der Refrain auch "...wir sind dabei uns zu verlieren" - die Frage ist für mich "ineinander verlieren" oder "jemanden verlieren". Wenn der Titel nicht "Gewinner" wäre würde ich sagen es ist ein tragischer Text.....aber das ist eben jedem seiner individuellen Sichtweise überlassen....andere Meinungen dazu?

For me Feist talks about the time after you broke up with someone and you realize that he or she was the right one. Life goes on, but from time to time this might come to your head and you ask yourself what went wrong, just having no answer except you were wrong. But you can't turn back time - and talking about "being sorry" means taking a second chance on each other - if both aren't too proud or "selfish" like she says.
For me this song has such a great power, because the refrain she doesn't sing about sex or love - she sings about trust and confidence in each other (which is pretty hard to achieve after a break up) - you only have to believe in this. However, it depends on your point of view if it's a tragic or a great love song. so long. |

After listening several times to Cath I ll have to confess that this is one of my favourites on the new album. I can relate a little to a company calls epilogue, because it is about a collapsed relationship that has failed years ago. She bound to a men she's not truly loving but she cannot get out of the relationship because she doesn't know what she wants else. So she's kind of a "dead" living person with no private perspective. He still adores her, because I think he is one of the guys who have loved her more, but the last line shows that he can understand the decision she made. Despite that, I think he has won a more distant look at her over the years, he still cares about her.
Well, for me the first stanza is a photoshooting at a professional photograph. She plays her role, smiles for the picture and the man on her side is a husband making an official family portrait picture. The song continues that this couple has no future anymore, so the people will ask "what became of you" - maybe a question the storyteller of this song was asked years ago in a similar situation.
The second verse clearly shows that she lives in a preowned world that she never wanted to have, but she's forced to accept the current conditions of her life. She's unhappy, but still blocks options of the past to pull her out, because she doesn't know what she wants, even when one (or more) men still show some affection for her. |

I like the lyrics, beside this I do not believe it's about suicide, even when you can interprete the lyrics like that. I think it's about someone being hurt so badly that he cannot listen to any apologize of the person anymore. I think because he's trying to prevent himself of new disappointments and to be on the safe side not becoming addicted of a a person again (which disappointed him so much). This is pretty much the song for me when I read and listen to the lyrics.
I don't have a direct relationship to the lyrics anymore, but I had a period in my life that makes me understand every line he sings. However, beautiful song, but as time goes by, wounds will heal and new things come into your life. That doesn't mean you forget about those things, but it means that you come over it, having a good life again. so long. |

Perfect break up song. Even when you're denying that you can make a clean cut it doesn't work. There are always two options - realising why you were in love and staying with the one you got being happy - or - and that's what means the last paragraph to me - leaving is always hard, there are noch clean breaks. The last sentence saying "I was lying when I said i believe in clean breaks" perfectly fits to it. Having a friendship after that is too difficult for both sides so there won't be a clear break. Even the person who breaks up has to fight this touching moments to get a clean break. Giving up a person you love will be always a kind of losing what you believed in. I think the lyrics express this emotion quite well. |

Sad but true - despite this fact, wonderful song even when it reminds me about the unsolvable situation I'm in.

Well, C'mon C'mon C'mon isn't my favourite Album of Sheryl Crow, but despite this fact, the (hidden) track on the LP is one of her best and one of favourite songs from her. I think it's about realising that ir's really over, thinking about a relationship and about how things in your life have been and changed since the break up.
But it isn't a sad song, because the last three lines describe everything perfectly.

I think this says it all - really beautiful to tell the process of time to heal all the wounds you might have had. I love this song. so long.
