Rollins Band – Spilling Over The Side Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'd say this is more about trying to 'pick up' on a weekend night and trying to put on a facade and use 'lines' to go home with a girl and feeling so full of shit and insincere whilst doing it but knowing that doing this is simply a symptom of loneliness that's spilling over the side... ..and at the end of the night about getting a hooker but knowing that this won't help because it's just another symptom of loneliness spilling over the side |
Sandi Thom – I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
These lyrics are not rediculos because of the term "punk-rocker with flowers in my hair". She quotes both 69 and 77 (69 for the flowers and 77 for punk rocker). It's true many punks were rude, but for those where weren't just folowing a trend it was an anti-class and anti-modern scociety attidude that left them disalusioned by all that surounded them. If you'd had just come to the realisation that you're suroundings were bullshit and there's a whole lot wrong with scociety you'd be rude as well. What she's getting at is that is that there's no major social upheavals for the benifit of all man going on, that everybody's consuming rescourses at a higher rate for no good reason, that technology has over complicated life, that we're controled by the media and that we all worship the almighty dollar... ...And that's the rediculous part! This woman needs to turn off her TV, stop relying on it and the mass media for her view of the world and help out with any of the many many social movements that are currently going on in this world like the anti-iraq-war movement for example, or even organic-food movement, perhaps anti-globalisation? or maby just go buy her clothes from a 2nd hand shop. the thing is that there are just as many movements and revolutionaries today as there were 30 odd years ago, the only difference is that those who do not want their voice heard have ensured they get no airtime whatsoever (as aposed to not very much airtime). ...mind you, i'd rather see kiddies and people who aren't awear of the world they're living in enjoying a song like this than most of the other tripe that makes it onto TV/comercial radio |
Eminem – Shake That (feat. Nate Dogg) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is halarios. I first heard it when i was outa town visiting mates and in a club, i actually had 3 girls dancing with me, shaking their arses when it came on. They weren't attractive but i was Totally shitfaced at the time so was loving the song/situation. It was especially apropriate because i had no intentions of starting anykind of relationship/finding someone special i just wel.. ...wanted a slut. Hahaaha! This song doesn't really have much of a meaning, it's just kinda the attitude that can overtake a guys mind (yes even those really nice inocent ones) when drunk to the point of throwing up/not remembering anything (whichever occours 1st). The music to the song is incredibly catchy and good for dancing, but as others have said, this song won't have a long lifetime as a good song. |
Sublime – What Happened Lyrics | 18 years ago |
oh gawd this song brings up so many 2nd hand memories (2nd hand because other people have to tell you what happened). It used to be when i was younger that my stomach would tell me when to stop drinking (ie i'd chunder if i had too much) now it never hapens, i simply wake up in some location wondeing what the fark hapened, how i got all these bruises and grazes, who's phone number that is writen on my arm and why i was text mesaging my mate at 3:30AM about "ptutig tha shoews in de freeezr, soo as me= runig faster than him haha Iwin" |
NOFX – The Idiots Are Taking Over Lyrics | 18 years ago |
just a quick note to those who think the song's about government. It's not! It's about all the brain washed simpletons who put these people in power. The statement of "the idiots are taking over" is no that idiots have taken power (i actually think those who really hold the power (big bisness) are very smart and seemingly dumb decisions are calculated and carefully made to look dumb and careless, with any bad decision all you need ask is "who profits" to find the culprits) It's that there are more and more stupid people out there, Literally! it's a fact that inteligent have less children and have them later in life where as dumbasses tend to start poping them out in their teens and keep on going, even though they can't aford it and the kids are often not raised aswell (gross generalisation i know, there are many fine exeptions out there so if you're one of them don't get mad at me, just be happy that you've beaten the odds) |
Primus – Fish On (Fisherman Chronicles, Pt. 2) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
BTW: The Heckler's wrong about it being about one fishing trip, he's telling tales of several different trips. All clasic fishing tales too: there's the one where the fish bit as soon as you try to have some lunch, another one from childhood where you remember the big orange vest and the fish was MASIVE (atleast whe you were little it was), and finally the tale where you went out to target a specific big type of fish (sharks and stingrays) and to your amazement you got exactly what you were after. Everyone who's grown up fishing has atleast one of each of these types of storeys |
Primus – Fish On (Fisherman Chronicles, Pt. 2) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i'd just like to add that the music it's self is also about fishing. The 1st part sounds like waking up at the crack of dawn, packing your gear and launching the boat, the 2nd part (where all the lyrics are) sounds like setting off in the river/ocean/lake then talking about past fishing trips whilst lazing in the morning sun waiting for a bite. Then the music stops and you hear that tense moment where the fish bites ( bit of reel noise) then the hook is set and the fight is on! and it's a tug off war, with the tension on the line getting tighter and slacker (listen to the bass). then there's that messy moment where the fish is right neer boat and it's jumping about and could throw the hook. Finally it's netted and the inside of the boat is chaos till someone finds the club and gives the fish a good hard whack (Big thump on the bass) and there's a bit of silence where you admire the fish and perhaps feel a bit of remorse for it. Then it's back to waiting in the sun for another bite. Musicly it's absolutely brilliant, though you have to be a fisherman to get it i spoze. |
Primus – Scissor Man (xtc Cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I recon this would be a good song to play to 11-13 year olds, a little bit twisted and kinda funny with a kids song sound to it (like The air is getting slipery) a good solid moral message. Not to mention it beats the hell outa any crappy pop songs that they'd listen to otherwise |
Primus – Too Many Puppies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow JAStewart, you've got some seriosly good ears!! I had always thaught the repition of "too many puppies" was about over population, but after seeing the lyrics i'd say that's probably wrong |
Primus – Pork Soda Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow! i'm just amazed someone managed to figure out what all that rambling was, i've listened many times and tried to figure it out... ..but fail everytime. pretty funny that such a chaotic sounding, non-sensical song became the title track for an album though |
Primus – Lacquer Head Lyrics | 18 years ago |
mabey les decided to "experiment with the porple side" for a wee bit. He put a funny little piece of noncense on the end of the "significant other" limp dickzit album. Mostly rambling about how you just wasted $15 on a shiney piece of plastic "that's right, FIFTEEN dolars of you're hard earned cash right out the window" Love this song BTW! |
Primus – Hats Off Lyrics | 18 years ago |
^^ can't add anything to that. Just like to say that this such a nice wee song, Love it! |
Queens of the Stone Age – Wake Up Screaming (Subhumans cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is such an amazingly ausome song, can hardly believe no-one's comented on it yet. I'm actually not shure if this song was on any of the albums, i got it on the first it giveth single. the song starts out pretty slow and sinister and carrys on like that untill you get to "screaming" where it does a superb build up into the fast tempo'd crazy rock we all love and expect from QOTSA (atleast while nick was still there). as for the meaning, to me it's about taking a strong psycadelic drug for the 1st time and having a "bad trip". The strange slow tempo'd start represents having just taken the drug, waiting for something to hapen and starting to feel the effects start up. The later part is a full blown tripping nightmare. I also think it's about geting heavily into drugs and experiencing someone overdosing. "I don't think I am what I was before Cause I never watched anyone die before" i feel like this stuff has killed the old me. seeing someone overdose has changed me. "I wish I'd never left home I wish I'd left it alone" I'm not comfortable with this new perspective of reality, i want the old me back. I wish i'd never touched drugs "Temptation is a disease Cause you never do as you please Your body takes over and your mind don't care Never think twice what might happen out there" my primitive want of pleasure was strong and my logical reasoning mind should have steped in to stop me but it didn't.Instead it was pasive and is now full of regret. "Screamin" This bit is whispered as the tempo builds/drug fully kicks in. "Go straight in for the ultimate sin Nobody else ever seems to care" i went right in and broke the law and the morals that society has drumed into me (ie don't do drugs), but no-one seemed to care. "So I took what I thought was mine And waited for a very long time" I took a substance i thaught i had evry rite to play with, and it took ages to take effect. "And I thought I knew what happened to you You told me exactly what to do So I did it right, stayed up all night Felt like killing myself for you" I've seen you (who ever gave it to him) take this stuff/live this life and i thaught i knew what the effects would be like. You taught me how to prepare and take it/how to live like this and i folowed your directions to a tee, But this is horible! i contemplated suicide to escape it. "I don't think I think like I did before" This has changed my life and perspective on everything. I'm shure these drugs have altered my thaught patterns "I never watched anyone die before I felt like I died as well" seeing that person overdose has traumatised me heavily. "The look, the words, the smell The way you looked at me As if I'd never been free I remember the words like a favorite song" those final moments before the overdose are going over and over in my head and i remember everything. "Cause I forget the way things went wrong Faked a picture of perfect health I realised I was killing myself" when did this change from a bit of carefree experimentation/casual use to the centre of my life? this is killing my body and i've been denieing it for a long time. "I don't think I am what I was before I never watched anyone die before I dream in slow motion and I wake up screaming" i've become another person. The trauma of death is plauging me in my sleep. the same moments played over and over |
