ameristar you should seriously get your facts straight about that book. a lot of his long time friends were involved in the making of it. the only part thats uncertain is about his death because his girlfriend and his mother wouldn't speak. just about everyone else around him at any given point in his life contributed to the book in some way. so yeah, good book. read it. |

i enjoy this. it is well written and put together incredibly. but yeah, the chorus does sound a ton like Only One which bothered me a bit cause its like...that generic pop/punk love-song stop-start chorus but i still find it powerful. |

i think the first part is his version of an ideal one-night stand and then the chorus is him lying to his girlfriend when she accuses him of cheating on her. then the second verse is the narrators interpretation of when he just wants a one-night stand but the girl wants a relationship. just my thoughts...i don't know the breakdown stuff. hope it helps. |

The frustration it's a regular thing I hate the ones who love to hate because they're just like me. A certain girl she took her hand and put in my lap It's way too full she said once you have me you'll always come back. i saw them live last week and i'm almost positive that Ronnie said "'lets wait to fuck,' she said, 'Once you have me you'll always come back'" which makes a ton more sense with the frustration and whatnot cause the narrator just wants to get laid and she's like...no lets wait, once you get some you'll always want me. song is about one night stands. |

i'm never gonna say i don't want to see ETF on MTV, that would just show that they're becoming successful and a band this talented deserves more recognition. but i by no means want to see people who don't like them running around saying how cool they are. but if being on MTV exposes them to a wide array of people who actually do truly enjoy their music, then good for them. maybe mainstream music will just get a little better. |

i was a little disappointed by this song. i guess its because i saw the title Smother Me and immeadiatly thought that it was gonna be like a fast-paced, loud song, with the most screaming out of anything on the album. i don't know why i thought that, i just did. this album is great, but it DOES have just a few too many slower/acoustic/softer songs. |

this whole album kinda grows on you. i realize it came out today. but i listened to it 3 times already. the first was kind of a disappointment, the second i started noticing how challenging the songs are vocally, and the third time i started to really enjoy the music. yeah its pretty different from their old stuff, but not so much that you wouldn't know its them. i think they are still a talented band that makes good music. i think everyone is getting worked up because "The Bird And The Worm" was the single, which is one of the few songs with upfront screaming and (arguably) the best song on the album. so then when they get the album, they expect every song to be in the same basic structure as TBATW. but i still enjoy the rest of the album. |

yeah, good one Descendent. or maybe anyone who disagrees knows about ELLIOTT. you know, the guy who wrote this? read his biography. One of his friends started talking to him about his OWN heroine addiction after he heard this song and elliott was like, "oh no, i've never touched that stuff" he didn't start until he was living in LA, NOT portland, and until sometime around the recording/touring of XO. the song "the white lady loves you more" isn't about his addiction either. same circumstances. read Elliott Smith And The Big Nothing, its good. so no "descendent" Anyone who disagrees knows nothing about dope? no, i think anyone who thinks its about heroine knows nothing about Elliott (Steven) Smith.
