The song is clearly about Spoon's struggle to gain a wider following but remain true to their indie roots. The lyrics are not to tricky for this song. The better question is how has spoon not already achieved commercial appeal??? There music is catchy, clever, and rocks way harder than anything that i hera come on the radio. |

First of all, the vulgar language is extremely jarring and impactful. I love it. Reminds me a bit of the donnie darko class room scene, where they are discussing a short story about some kids burning an old man's money and is house too. Donnie's response goes "They say right when they flood the house and they tear it to shreds that... destruction is a form of creation," so the fact that they burn the money is ironic. They just want to see what happens when they tear the world apart. They want to change things"
Fucking up can be fun, especially if you still rock this hard!

The song can mean multiple things on multiple levels. Lets suppose it is about a lost loved one. Does losing a loved one not also make a person ponder about what life is all about and what death will be? Stop fighting and just appreciate the song. It's beautiful and it evokes thought... sit back and enjoy. |

Anyone that thinks this song is about an eating disorder is insane. "we might die from medication but we sure killed all the pain. but what was normal in the evening by the morning seems insane" Try to reconcile this quote with the eating disorder theme... doesn't really work out. Does anyone know what the title is about? |
