Stratovarius – False Messiah Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree. And what I find interesting is this line:

"Fools will follow this man
He leads us to destruction
Tending us to damnation"

How would Jesus lead us to destruction? People who find Jesus change in a positive way. It's this world and it's people who lead us to destruction.

Nice guys though. Hanged out with the bassplayer 2 weeks ago at a festival where I played with my band, we had a great laugh!

I will have to agree on what Ferahgo said. I definately think Matt is venting at God here. It's actually pretty obvious for people who know God.

And that's why I think some people get so frustrated about Christians thinking that songs are about Faith; one thing that non-believers (sorry for this odd term) should not forget: interpretation most of the times are based on one's personality. So, if you're heart is full of God's spirit, then you will recognize this in - let's say - lyrics. Even though a band didn't intend to write about God or anything religion related. Like, some people who just lost their gf/bf might interpret this as a 'lovesong'.

Thanks for reading my rant. What Ferahgo said: feel free to disagree!

mewithoutYou – January 1979 Lyrics 18 years ago
It seems the first part is about being born:

"My forehead no longer sweet
With holy kisses worthy of your fiery lips
I was floating in a peaceful sea
Rescued by a sinking ship" - like how a child is born in a sinful world. i love that part 'i was floating in a peaceful sea' (in the womb you're still a child of God) 'rescued by a sinking ship' (being born in a sinful world.. from the moment we're born we start dying. sinking ship=evanescence?

My 2 cents :)

Also check out this interview with Aaron:

L: Alright, first of all... I read in other interviews you’re 26 years old and you’re an aquarius; is January 1979 the month of your birth?

A: Yeah, me and our old bass player Daniel, who just left the band.

L: Yeah, I heard about that.

A: Yeah, we were both born the same day, the same year, so I thought ‘I’ve got to write a song about it.’

L: Alright, so that’s what the song’s about?

A: Yeah, well, not just that. It starts out... the first verse is about being born but then it goes on from there. I don’t remember much about that day.
