The most beatiful way elton could have honored a beatiful woman. I remember my mom ( a strict catholic) had a picture of Marilyn by her picture of the Virgin Mary for years after she died. |

Cat Stevens – Pop Star Lyrics

Positively the worst song Cat has ever recorded. I recognise that is has the verses that repeat and eh makes the lyrics work. But when i listen to "Mona Bone Jakon" nowdays, i skip this song. |

Cat Stevens – Tuesday's Dead Lyrics

I think it can resound with the images of 9/11. I don't particuarly like this song but it has meaning. I don't think "JME" made the connection because he converted, that would be a little "De-de-de". I mean, no rational person would think that Cat was talking about 9/11. I mean, from "Teaser and the Firecat" and 9/11 it was like 25 years. |

Cat Stevens – Daytime Lyrics

The music in between the lyric's sound a lot like the piano in Elton John's "Tiny Dancer", but that's just my opinion. One of his "softer" songs, very good one, expressive of his feelings when "Daytime" was realeased. |

My favorite non-hit of Cat's, I just love this song. I think it is about his inability to score with the "ladies" when he was younger |

Elton John – Razor Face Lyrics
|
"Heard he's back, lookin' for a place, to lay down"
A reference to sex
"Must be getting on."
He's not young
"Needs a man who's young to walk him round"
Needs a younger man to, well, you know.
"Oh it must be hard for the likes of you"
1970 wasn't the greatest year to be a homosexual
The rest of the song pretty much explains itself. This is one of the few songs i think that really adressed elton's sexuality. I am not one to go around saying alot of his songs were about it, but this one is the most obviosly ones. |

Elton John – Love Lies Bleeding Lyrics

I remember when i bought "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" at the record store. I was exited, i had gotten hooked on Elton John in 1970 when "Madman" came out. I listened......and listened......this is a long song. I love the instremental, actually, more than the lyrics. Wasn't that big of a radio hit though ( I wonder why :) |

Now if Elton had written thism i would understand, but Bernie wrote it, maybe it's just as it appears and i'm thinking a little too deep |

Cat Stevens – Maybe You're Right Lyrics

He seems to be at the end of the relationship, a long strenuous one, where neither involved had much fun. Kinda sounds like a divorvce song, and in the song he seems tired, but that's just my input. |

Cat Stevens – Lilywhite Lyrics

One of the more mysterious songs he's written. All in all "Mona bone Jakon" was a very strange album. Took me a while to get most of the songs. But i think this is the story of someone going through life, being "saved" and never knowing his savior. |

Cat Stevens – Katmandu Lyrics
|
Well, it's spelled Kathmandu, I dont think that he would have made that mistake. I his position at that time reflect maybe the same feelings that someone trying to climb Mt. Everest. He was facing superstardom at this time, a daunting thing to stare in the eye especialy for someone like him. I think the mood of this song is slightly expectant of things to come
The part that i think has the most meaning to is,"Katmandu I'll soon be touching you
And your strange bewildering time
Will hold me down." Replace "katmandu" with superstardom, doesnt flow, but it makes sense....well as close making senxe as any of Cat's songs. |

Ah, i remember when i bought "Tease and the Firecat", I got through it, heard some songs i really loved (rubylove, morning has broken) but when i heard this one, with all the things going on in the world, i think this was the best song on that record. I remember how i thought of it then. I though it was about you know, resilience, and positive thinking. Good song, really good song. |

Cat Stevens – Father And Son Lyrics
|
This song is very personal to me. It was shortly after "Tea for the Tillerman" had been realeased. I was having difficulties with my father (I had come out) and he really couldn't face me. So i walked into our den and put this on the record player. I sat next to my father and listened with him, it was the first time I had ever seen him cry. He looked at me, and said," I love you son, no matter what path you take. Thank you." |
