I think this song is about how a person can be entirely invisible to someone else, to someone who he dearly loves .. I think it clearly relates to our life at the same time when we face the same situations.... someone may not feel the same about you, and you might try hard to get closer but you only raise the line..

I think this line reflects on how one could be expecting too much , and he tries his hardest to get to her.... to ignore the reasons that might try and stop him. Towards the end, he feels that this is all in vain , cause he is still in the shadows, unseen . |

I personally believe this song isn't against religion even though it may sound like it. I believe you should have faith but not entirely depend on faith for something. The song talks about how a person's blind faith in something leads him to his own destruction. He talks about God, but I think in a broader sense it could be applied to anyone........ |
