The Gun Club – Jack on Fire Lyrics 17 years ago
A very sexy song! Jeffrey Lee seems to be a confident lover! "I'm holding your happiness in my hand". Pretty simple song, probably about.... being horny and having sex?

Gang of Four – To Hell With Poverty Lyrics 17 years ago
You have to keep Go4's sence of sarcasm in mind when listening to this song. The line "To hell with poverty", which reflects the frustration of the working classes, is followed by "we'll get drunk on cheap wine" which reflects how they contribute to the same system that they are so frustrated with. The paycheck returns to the corporations just a couple of days after it arrives, and the worker still believes he is rebeling against the system.

Dead Boys – Sonic Reducer Lyrics 17 years ago
I saw Pere Ubu perform this song live yesterday! To Octopuseyes, yeah, both Final Sollution and Sonic Reducer was first performed by Rocket from the Tombs.

In Rocket from the Tombs version of this song they sing human race and pretty face.

The Gun Club – Ghost on the Highway Lyrics 17 years ago
About a Femme Fatale? But I think all the talk of her killing people is symbolic. It's more about how she slaughters the souls of her lovers when she leaves them.

And although Jeffrey Lee knows that she is this Femme Fatale character, he has to constantly remind himself about it. The heart probably tells him the opposite. ("I hate you but i love you", "If I ever close my eyes again, I'd realize what you are to me")

And in the end, he also feels sorry for her, she is "lost on the highway".

Throbbing Gristle – Persuasion Lyrics 17 years ago
No it's not about rape, it's about... Persuasion!

Sleazy was interested in how people could be persuaded to do things they didn't want to do. So before a gig he told P-Orridge to sing about persuasion, and this was the result. It's about a man who persuades his partner to take a picture for a porn magazine. Kind of obvious.

Gang of Four – 5:45 Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it is more logical that 5.45 refers to a quarter to six. "At a quarter to six, I watch the news"

Throbbing Gristle – What a Day Lyrics 17 years ago
What a day!

Throbbing Gristle – Weeping Lyrics 17 years ago
I read it was about P-Orridge's attempted suicide after Cosey left him for Chris Carter. He swallowed a bunch of antidepressants and steroids before a gig and had to be taken to intensive care.

Talking Heads – Uh-oh, Love Comes To Town Lyrics 17 years ago
One of the best love songs ever. If not THE best.

Gang of Four – At Home He's A Tourist Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it is about a man who is cheating on his wife and sleeps with prostitutes. "At home he feels like a tourist", he feels that he doesn't belong there, and his family/wife is not really important to him. So cheating is not a big deal for him. His wife knows that he is screwing around, but she accepts it because if it got out it would harm the facade of the perfect family/couple. Just a thought. Btw, I love the way they pitch the song in the end of the "big jump for me"-part! Great song.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Paradise Place Lyrics 18 years ago
Actually, this song was written long before the article about the breast implants. It was because of this song that she could sue the author, because their article made her look like a hypocrite.
