Jack Johnson – They Do They Don't Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with a lot of what Jadein had to say about this song. With all of the references to religion in previous songs and also his "Imagine" cover- I think it is safe to say he is critical of popular religion.

Matt Costa – Vienna Lyrics 16 years ago
LOVE IT! It kind of reminds me of JJ's Belle.
The spacing and punctuation on the lyrics is a little off and stuff though...

-------------
Vienna can you hear me lazing on the afternoon?
Cathedral bells are ringing a sound
Winter can't ignore her
Spring'll bring her back with blossons
Summer bring her back to me now
Bring her back to me

Shoulder to shoulder, be back in a month a told her
Wishing wells I wish her with me
Vienna vas machs du
I'm running through the streest of Zurich
Calling all the trains in Europe to bring her to me

Anything I got to do now

Anything I got to do to be...
Back with happy Mondays
Sleeping in on Sundays

Just bring her to me

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 17 years ago
This is in response to LostxHope's remark:
WTF are you smoking?! They never compare the hoteltothe catholic church, theya re saying that it is so bad that any catholic will cross themselves before entering.

K?Thnx!Bai!

-------------------
"Appealing, only because they're just that unappealing
Any practiced Catholic would cross themselves upon entering
The rooms have a hint of asbestos
And maybe just a dash of formaldehyde
And the habit of decomposing right before your very eyes
Along with the people inside
What a wonderful caricature of intimacy
Inside, what a wonderful caricature of intimacy"

I believe this to be a stab at Catholicism because:
"Appealing, only because they're just that unappealing
Any practiced Catholic would cross themselves upon entering"-
A catholic would immediately cross themselves before entering because it is a force of habit, and the hotel is as "appealing because its unappealing" as a Catholic church.

"The rooms have a hint of asbestos
And maybe just a dash of formaldehyde
And the habit of decomposing right before your very eyes
Along with the people inside"-
Explains how the moral and ideas backing up the Catholic church are slowly decaying and falling apart

"What a wonderful caricature of intimacy
Inside, what a wonderful caricature of intimacy"-
The false belief in God that Catholics (and any Christians for that matter) hold.

This possibly even goes along with the title "Build God, Then We'll Talk" because although Catholics try to come up with a structured idea for God, they are unable to do it without error.

These are just my ideas, I obviously did not write the song. I just think that the reference to the Catholic church was more than just to say how dismal a hotel is. Thanks!

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 17 years ago
After browsing through the 11 pages of interpretations, i saw very few things about an obvious stab at Catholicism...
"Appealing, only because they're just that unappealing
Any practiced Catholic would cross themselves upon entering
The rooms have a hint of asbestos
And maybe just a dash of formaldehyde
And the habit of decomposing right before your very eyes
Along with the people inside
What a wonderful caricature of intimacy
Inside, what a wonderful caricature of intimacy"

In this Panic compares a Catholic Church with a nasty hotel full of crime... and the people attending the church rot away along with it and moral in general... and possibly even compares their relationship with God as a caricature of intamacy...

Any thoughts??

"man this is so messed up panic! at the disco was my most favorite band ever right? then all of a sudden ppl hear one song (the only difference) and then OMG i effin heart panic! at the disco givin it stupid nicknames like patd and p!atd its panic at the disco yall geez. fuckin posers need to go out there and find a band instead of stealing the bands taht people actually like more than one song. wen you ask someone who says they love p!atd if they say the only difference or i write sins not tradegies and they havent heard any other songs then they are a poser..."

It is difficult for me to even start to form an arguement against you. I can not figure out if I should feel bad for you or to blame you for your ignorance. I will just go from line to line to show you how ridiculous your claims really are.
line 1: "man this is so messed up panic! at the disco was my most favorite band ever right?"
First of all, you sound like a delusional twelve year old. "my most favorite band ever right". Are you a middle school cheerleader? Is there a "What-EVER!" to follow this statement that was not included?
And also, are you expecting a response to your question? "As If!"
line 2: "then all of a sudden ppl hear one song (the only difference) and then OMG i effin heart panic! at the disco givin it stupid nicknames like patd and p!atd its panic at the disco yall geez. "
In this run-on sentence lacking punctuation, you accuse others of giving your "most favorite band ever" stupid nicknames. People don't run around actually calling Panic! At the Disco "p!atd". It is simply an abbreviation, similar to the one you used your self "ppl". So, cnt_hve_crap_w/_rap, when are abbreviations okay to use and when are they not? Since you have proved to us all your skills in the English language, you should be able to determine this, "geez".
line 3: "fuckin posers need to go out there and find a band instead of stealing the bands taht people actually like more than one song. wen you ask someone who says they love p!atd if they say the only difference or i write sins not tradegies and they havent heard any other songs then they are a poser."
The first song you ever heard from Panic! at the Disco led you to purchasing/stealing their music. I am sure you have listened to other bands and soon came to like them too. Does that make you a poser? If so many people did not like Panic! at the Disco, they would not be popular. You might not have even heard of them. It does not matter if a person enjoys one song, or every song a band puts out. Its all about the music.
Every person in this world takes ideas of style, music, culture, food, and lifestyles from other people. Everyone can be considered a "poser". (This includes you as well.) This website alone is a forum for taking and sharing ideas.

I apologize for not using this site simply to comment on meanings of songs, but I cannot read a comment like that and let it slide.
y cnt_hve_crap_w/_rap, I am not a person that jugdes others, but you are an idiot. Don't post your ideas if they are only to bash others and call them "posers" when you should be looking in the mirror your self.
Thanks! Jen

Jack Johnson – It's All Understood Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is by far the most powerful jack song. its about being closed minded and enjoying things just because that is what is "popular" or well known. we should study jack when we study great poetry because he is truely amazing. this song has the ability to hit "close to home" to everyone who listens to it because we live in such a superficial world. The irony is that now jack is so big that it is "cool" to listen to him.
