i really can't understand why everyone can't lighten the hell up and laugh at this song, cause i think it's pretty funny. I am a female, but unlike many people who've already posted, listening to this song does not make me want to jump Eminem's bones, nor does it make me want to cause him bodily harm. how can you get pissed at him for speaking the truth? yeah there are women out there who are sluts and liars and only want to hook up with him because he's famous or rich or whatever. more power to him for calling them on it. does it make him sexist if its true????!!!!! Furthermore, the majority of the insults in the song are directed to the following types of women: Sluts, Hos, and Bitches. I don't fall into any of those categories, so maybe that's why i don't take it so personally. also, guys are liars and sluts too, we all know that. if a chick sang this song would you all be jumping on her calling her sexist?? probably not, but there's the double standard. tazzy: he said you want what you can't have, don't touch what you can't grab, end up with two back hands... *to back hand someone generally means to bitch slap them as far as i know, so he probably means you can't have me, don't touch me or you're gonna get smacked* that's what i get out of it anyway. lol almost every post here is about misheard lyrics which is actually pretty entertaining in itself. anyway, this is one of my favorite Em songs, i love the lyrics and how it sounds and flows together (you can tell i'm not really musical myself but hell you can get my meaning) I loved this part: Yeh you laugh till your motherfuckin' ass gets drafted When you're in band camp thinkin' the draft can't happen ..... hahaha finally someone said something about how he says words can degrade, not degrate, not be great, but friggin DEGRADE. and yes i know it's spelled like degrate in the album cover but it still isn't right. this song, while not Eninem's best, still has its moments (pun intended). furthermore, i'm a huge aerosmith fan and if they didn't have a problem selling out their song you all shouldn't have a problem with Em using it. |

I love GnR, and I like the Stones, but I have to agree that mick jagger owns this song. no question. i don't think anyone should try to cover this song after hearing jagger do it, because no one else could do it justice. as much as i adore axl, he should have left well enough alone. ok now i have to ask, why does everyone have to be so insulting in these posts? gimpy, since i'm a fan of both groups, does that make me a half-wit or am i still the village idiot?? just wondering since apparantly you think anyone that doesn't share your opinion has the intelligence of a potato. |

well my friend's sister's hairdresser's cousin's mother-in-law's neighbor's son who was best friends with axl says this song is about axl being in love with a porn star and how he was so jaded she had to come up with waaaay out there things to turn him on. ok so i admit it, i made that up, which leads me to ask tannie where did you get your info, because as of right now i'm agreeing with lumberjack and thinking you've got one hell of an imagination, and if what you imagine is axl and slash doing it, to each his own, i guess. anyway, this is one of my favorite GnR songs. i like how it goes from wicked to sweet. |

i know most of the stuff i'm responding to was written ages ago, but i'm new to this site and have to agree with G.E.R.M.S, that just to be a little piece of the puzzle on Appetite would make you a genius. as for what nothing2lose said: 1) if axl is not original, please tell me who he stole his sound and/or lyrics from, i will download the tracks immediately and then thank you for expanding my music collection. 2) how many other singers could sing multiple verses without taking a breath or hold a note as long as axl could at his peak? 3) he was egotistical??? i'm sorry, but it's pretty naive to think that most celebrities DON'T think they're better than the rest of us. in other words, so what?? sorry, just had to vent |

ok first of all when i first heard this song i was offended by certain words he used. but once i pulled my jaw up off the floor and listened to what he was saying it made me think about why he chose to use those words in the first place. the way i (like to) interpret it, the last verse ties it all together: Radicals and Racists Don't point your finger at me I'm a small town white boy Just tryin' to make ends meet Don't need your religion Don't watch that much T.V. Just makin' my livin', baby Well that's enough for me why can't all the verses before all lead into this last one, with him saying that's how you radicals and racists want me to think, that's how you've tried to brainwash me, but i'm not having it. i just want to live my life my way and let others live theirs?? ok now i must say that maybe i choose to interpret it this way because otherwise axl would be a total dick, and i'd really rather believe he was sending a message instead of spewing ignorant hate. by the way, brainwipe, i like your theories, you obviously put a lot of thought behind them :) |

ok i'm probably gonna get blasted for saying this, and keep in mind i've loved this band since i was about 11 years old and it's still my favorite band to this day, but...this is not one of my favorite GnR songs. i don't think it's even in my top ten. as long as it is they could have had another verse in there instead of saying don't you think that you need somebody a million times. that being said i really do like the part that goes: And when your fears subside and shadows still remain I know that you can love me when there's no one left to blame oh and someone posted something forever ago that said something about since when does axl play the piano? i'm pretty sure i read that he played the piano from when he was a kid. p.s. estranged blows this song out of the water |

this one is definitely in my top 5 GnR songs, and it's so underrated. there are so many good lines in that last verse alone, (i think most have us have almost given ourselves aneurysms trying to sing along) and every time i hear it it makes me think about who and what i'm taking for granted. Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong (my prerogative, right??), but it seems like the message is that you can only be so cold and distant before everyone you know and love gives up on you. However, one thing I always wonder about this song is if the people outside of the 'coma' care too much or not enough? First he bitches about all the pressure and then later on it's like 'no one's listening'. can't have it both ways... |
