I hate how I could have seen this guy play twice within the space of 6 months but he didn't turn up both times. Never mind. I love this song, possibly the best off World Waits. It kind of makes me think that he's searching for a.. purpose? And that possibly the next day he could find it so for now he can rest easy. Inevitably, each day could be life changing or inspiring. I'm not making sense now. |

Well.. I reckon the meaning is a bit obvious.. it's a zoo keeper (evidently from the countryside) on his way to find his love in the big city. So it's raining (but that doesn't stop all the cars) and he really needs her but he has to keep on finding her. And the whole 'tall just like a giraffe' thing is simple.. When things seem better, you're more confident and 'tall' but if things go wrong then you just want to hide like an ostrich does. Simple enough. Although I bet I'm wrong and it has a completely different meaning, haha. Anyway, I adore this song. I've listened to this song on repeat for the past week. Obsessive? No. |

And where exactly did I say Tim Burton was a genius? I simply said that this song had a Tim Burton feel to it. Read properly next time, plzkthx. I don't see this song as weak at ALL, it drags you right in to the situation and leaves you there. I think people don't like this song because it's different to the rest of the album but it belongs on Meds just like the others. And singing too deep? No, that is what makes this song even better. It's the rough-morning voice that matches. And clairey, the 'whistle away' would make more sense if the lyrics were correct (I know I said they were right earlier but there is one word wrong..).. it's 'kettle' not 'king'. So it's like.. tea/coffee in the morning, y'know? |

Okay, so I reckon it's about a guy who loved a girl so much that he give her everything - "he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my blood" (which is what he's thinking, for the record.). She ditches him and he feels like he's lost everything so he thinks the only thing left to do is kill himself - "the road he must take/the road that will lead to the end". So he dies unhappy and sad "he'll never know peace in his lifetime". Then the walls, I see as metaphors for all of his love and life built up into this relationship, only to be smashed down. I love over analysing songs. |

It's quite simple really - the person is going to attack somebody else. and even if this 'somebody else' is okay, there is going to be an 'accident' anyway! Well, that's my thoughts on it. |

The amazing thing about SDRE's lyrics is that they can mean absolutely anything to different people. For example, I'm sure I hear 'It's very unlike me - not that it's gonna change' instead of 'send love like me, It's not fair it's gone outside'. Anyway, I *adore* the part where they all sing 'ahh-ahh' etc. I love this album. :P |

atticusf04 - I think you've got the concept of the song completely wrong. Instead of encouraging death, I think it's more.. encouraging life. The lines 'deep in the ocean, there lies a wave for you' means to me that no matter how terrible life can be, there will still always be someone or something out there to keep you going.. save you almost. Then the words, 'When you hit the ground, it's hard to speak but it's who you are.. A shining star' says to me that you may have fallen down in life but you're still special and have your purpose in life, even if you don't agree. Again, the lines 'every day's another scene' etc seems like Enigk is saying that every day will be different in some way. Of course, I could go on forever and over-analyse every single line purely because I have listened to this song on repeat when I've been happy, sad, depressed and damn near suicide and I must say that it definitely sparks off hope in my whenever I hear this. Whew, glad I got that out my system. ;-) |

A Song To Say Goodbye appeals to me more because I prefer more.. slower, creepier songs that make me think. I don't know how you could download the album leak :P It's torture not doing so but I prefer to have something physical in my hands to listen to. It may not necessarily be about sexual or physical abuse either. This song gives me complete shivers everytime and I have a pretty active imagination so you can imagine it's mental torture hearing this song - which is okay I suppose. I adore this song. It reminds me of a current relationship I'm in.. We talked about all the things we would do together and then never even going through with these plans. On the other hand, it makes me think of a relationship where one partner has died and the other is frustrated with the death of his/her love. Kinda, wishing he/she was with their love. I'm sure you know what I mean. :P Anyway, regardless of the meaning.. it's a gem of a song which I often have on repeat. |
