The Dresden Dolls – Bad Habit Lyrics 17 years ago
Hah. This song just SCREAMS to me. I have the same bad habit as Amanda, pretty badly, and tend to execute my bad habit when society pisses me off. Adore this.

David Bowie – Heroes Lyrics 17 years ago
It totally reminds me of the love between Winston and Julia in 1984. This song is beautiful.

The Doors – Hyacinth House Lyrics 18 years ago
Alright . . . I'll attempt to explain this song's meaning as well as I can:

I believe that it is about either Ray Manzarak's (?) house . . . which happened to have a lot of hyacinth flowers surrounding it. The band was sitting down one day, trying to be inspired enough to create a song. Jim just wrote about Ray's house. The HYACINTH HOUSE was Ray's house; the lions represented the stray cats that hung around his place, somebody (possibly Jim?) mentioned using the restroom (the lines about the bathroom send chills up my spine because to me they almost seem to foreshadow Morrison's bloody death in the hotel bathroom in Paris within the same year.) I believe that the band was also playing cards at the time that the song was written (hence the Jack of Hearts.)

This song seems like it should have a much deeper meaning but clearly it just came from literal terms that Jim faced in his everyday life.

PEACE. MADISON.
