Barenaked Ladies – Hello City Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ah, Halifax. I lived there (and hated it) for two years. I had this song on constant replay. Then I moved back to Toronto and found out that Steve Page had moved onto my parent's street. And the sun never shines ANYWHERE in Halifax, from all the fog and rain. Urk. |
Hedley – Villain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about getting caught up in a situation (*cough*CanadianIdol*cough*), and getting involved with someone you really, really shouldn't but who you connect with and desire all the same. Love it! |
Matthew Good Band – Deep Six Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The "Deep Six" refers to a grave being six feet underground. One of my all time favorite MGB songs. |
Matthew Good Band – Hello Time Bomb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Dude, this was one of the biggest songs of 1999 in Canada. Number one album, number one on radio, number one on Much. Where's the love? In the audio commentary for the video on the "In A Coma" DVD, Matt says that the song (and the video) is about working crapy jobs, and feeling like nothing, and wanting go ride off and get laid by some chick who comes into your crappy place of employment. It was my theme song this past summer, while working in retail while on break from college. "Did it on Ritalin/I got me some good grades/Now I work me the night shift"=my life this past summer. Urgh. |
Chantal Kreviazuk – In This Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Heh, this song is SO about Chantal's husband, Our Lady Peace's Raine Maida. I mean, come on "You're my comfort, not a superstar?" Awesome song though. Perfect for any relationship where your SO is messed up, your relationship is messed up, but you love them anyway and want to fix it all for them. |
Chantal Kreviazuk – Green Apples Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The most romantic song ever. Period. Also, I appeared singing it on Canadian Idol in Season Three, so it has an extra special place in my heart ;) |
Third Eye Blind – 1000 Julys Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yes, it's about sex, but it's about the calm and turmoil in relationships as well. "And we don't fit in Wonder what it's like when you're living with someone like me I'm a freak and I'm nervous when it's easy Feral days, and I'm sex crazed I put it in with my animal ways That's the sign I was born to be living in I ran around and gave the finger to the Ritalin You can calm me down, I can't say why You say goodbye, you burn my eyes, you burn my eyes A thousand Julys I hope you'll find I'd give you the words, but no words come to mind But you turn me so cold, so I tell you lies When you let me in, it's like a thousand Julys " I want to send those lyrics to my boyfriend RIGHT NOW. We're going through a bad patch (and he's just in a bad place too). Although, I'd change the Ritalin part--I want to go back ON it to be calmer for him :P |
