Night Ranger – Sister Christian Lyrics 16 years ago
I figure it's about like "what's your price for flight" I mean.... what are you going to give in exchange to be happy? One of those.... if you were going to be happy for the rest of your life, would you shoot your dog, or something. I think of it as more like an older sibling telling the younger sister yeah you are going to have to figure out how far you're going to go to get the perfect guy, but don't settle, and don't wait forever. But now's not the time to worry about it.
There's my 2 cents.

America – Sister Golden Hair Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't by any means think this is what it's about, but I thought.... well what if the guy is gay? I mean he did say stuff about the whole " I do agree there's times when a woman sure can be a friend of mine". But then I thought, well no because that doesn't go along with the whole I love you thing.
I agree with pretty much everyone else. And I like the nun thing.
I have to say though, maybe he only thinks of her as a sister. SHE wants it to be more, but he's going.... well no. I'm not ready for the altar. But I can't live without you because I love you, but in a sisterly way, and I tried to fake that I love you, but I really don't love you as a lover. And it would be depressing if you were in a situation like that.
Well there's my two cents.

Alice Cooper – School's Out Lyrics 16 years ago
It's like my song this week. I live in Missouri and we have gotten out of school the past two days due to ice.
I love ice. It makes me happy, even if the electricity goes out sometimes. Ice is our friend :)

Supertramp – Surely Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song. It completely sums up so many things I feel about so many people.
It seems like he's saying that he likes this person but knows they could never have anything between them.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – I Heard It Through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
I've got to say I like Marvin Gaye's version better, if only because it's got orchestral stuff (I'm a horn player) and it's more compact- I just have a hard time listening to an 11 minute song over and over.
I've got to agree that both are a lot different. Except, I was just noticing that at least when they're singing this song the singer of CCR (John Fogarty?) and Marvin Gaye sound similar. That's probably about the last time I'll ever say that. Haha!

The Who – Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics 16 years ago
Really this song is one of my favourites now, because I can relate it to my own life. I'm a very depressive person, and I have BLUE eyes. Also I am a different person on the outside than I am on the inside. I try not to be a burden, and therefore try to be happy, but I am not a happy person, and I'm depressed on the inside. I sometimes just wish someone would realize that I need help and help me.
All the other explanations seem very plausible. I mean, sure, it could be about Hitler- He had blue eyes and is the stereotypical bad guy in history. I don't think so, though, because I think he thought he was doing the right thing, and there fore was not "the bad man".
The Life house project is much more plausible, because first of all, it was by the Who, the song was a part of it, and.... theres really nothing that says it's NOT.
Being depressed is also a plausible explanation, because that's what I thought of. Also, he had to have gotten the idea from somewhere, even if it was part of the lifehouse project.
Anyway there's my two cents.

Spencer Davis Group – Gimme Some Lovin' Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song- We played it in pep band.

I think the song's about the Boomer generation. Probably wasn't then though. But you know, I mean it's like.... we made it! We made it through Vietnam, Watergate, the Cold War.... we made it! And we're still here to tell you we made it!

I think when it was made it was more of a feel good song; more of a pure WOOOOO! type energy song.

I love it. My friend who was also in pep band.... it's almost like our song lmao.

John Lennon – Jealous Guy Lyrics 17 years ago
See, I think he could have been writing it for a zillion different people. Julian, Cynthia, Yoko, Paul.... It's a bit more of a stretch thinking it's for Julian or Paul, and most likely it's about Yoko, but honestly, that's why Lennon is awesome. There isn't just one meaning.

I can see how you'd think it was freezing their eyes- I thought that too, after I read the lyrics on oldielyrics.com - it really did sound like that to me. I never could figure out WHY they'd say that though. It made no sense whatsoever to me. That makes more sense though, the sun thing.

I like this. Its just, like was said, a feel good song. Once I was upset about one thing or another, and I heard this song, and it just kind of made everything better. Kind of strange, but thats how it is.

Chicago – 25 or 6 to 4 Lyrics 18 years ago
Honestly (and strangely enough) I've never heard the REAL version of this song. But in our 6th grade honors band (to give you an idea of the type of band, I was 6th chair french horn.... yep brass/woodwind type band) we played this song. It was really awesome- Id like to hear the lyrics set to it sometime, not just think the lyrics to the band cd.

Phil Collins – You'll Be In My Heart Lyrics 18 years ago
At this graduation type thing at my elementary school in 5th grade, this was played as accompaniment to a slideshow. It was very sweet. I think a lot of people were crying (and we were fifth graders!) Wah, it makes me think of a friend of mine that died in an awful crash in 2nd grade.

The Monkees – Daydream Believer Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song. I sometimes have to slap myself and go THIS IS THE MONKEES NOT THE BEATLES because I am a Beatle fan, but it may be why I love this song- theyve got the awesome parts in harmony. Its one of those songs that sends just kind of a "wave" through me. I mean, it just kind of fills you and if you knew all the words, it would be such a fun song to sing. :-D.

John Lennon – Stand By Me (Ben E. King cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
This is definately the best version of this I have heard. Maybe it's because its John and he is the awesomeness, but he decided to make a cover of it over the Lost Weekend, and you can definately tell that he and Yoko were apart.

Dan Fogelberg – Leader of the Band Lyrics 18 years ago
Im not sure who I think of when I hear this song. But I love it. This is such a beautiful song, but it is so simple. It is about a guy and his true love- his music. I guess I think of my dad. He has introduced me to so many types of music that I've fallen in love with. For instance, the Beatles, Dan Fogelberg, and so many other types of great classic rock. And sometimes I dont think I appreciate my dad enough. I think this is great song. I guess ive said that before though.

does no one read the top right under the lyrics?

submissions
Jack Johnson – Traffic In The Sky Lyrics 18 years ago
My take is:

There's traffic in the sky
and it doesn't seem to be getting much better
there's kids playing games on the pavement
drawing waves on the pavement
shadows of the planes on the pavement
it's enough to make me cry
but that don't seem like it would make it feel better
maybe it's a dream and if I scream
it will burst at the seams
this whole place will fall into pieces
and then they'd say...

Well how could we have known?
I'll tell them it's not so hard to tell
if you keep adding stones
soon the water will be lost in the well

Okay so everythings going along as normal. Something happens. So then the government makes up some idiotic excuse saying oh well, how could we have known? So then the american people say well, if you keep giving us all this information we really dont need to know, were never going to get what we need to know.

Puzzle pieces in the ground
But no one ever seems to be digging
instead they're looking up towards the heavens
with their eyes on the heavens
the shadows on the way to the heavens
it's enough to make me cry
but that don't seem like it would make it feel better
the answers could be found
we could learn from digging down
but no one ever seems to be digging
instead they'll say

Puzzle pieces in the ground
But no one ever seems to be digging
instead they're looking up towards the heavens
with their eyes on the heavens
the shadows on the way to the heavens
it's enough to make me cry
but that don't seem like it would make it feel better
the answers could be found
we could learn from digging down
but no one ever seems to be digging
instead they'll say

Okay so no ones really getting to the bottom of this. Everyones just relying on religion to tell them right and wrong, when really while theyre looking to the skies for help, the answers right in front of them, but theyre too caught up in praying for help to help themselves.

Words of wisdom all around
but no one ever seems to listen
they're talking about their plans on the paper
building up from the pavement
there are shadows from the skyscrapers on the pavement
it's enough to make me sigh
but that don't seem like it would make it feel better
the words are all around
but the words are only sounds
and no one ever seems to listen

So then, the people start doing the same things over that went wrong before, when people try to tell them they should do it differently so the bad things doesnt happen again. And even though people give advice that would help, its just lost because no one pays attention.

Im sorry if i offend anyone in my translation of the song, because I do realize that some of the remarks I made regarding the more religious section(in my mind) may come off as rude, but i dont mean to be offensive.

My take on Yoko is that honestly John was one of the greatest guys ever, and if he married Yoko, well she must have been something special.

Nickmcdoz.... Wonderful explanation. The only thing is that the end makes it sound like youre running for president. Otherwise, wonderful explanation of the song- couldnt have said it better!

If you say that lennon is antichrist(when actuallyhe was christian....) just because of this song, w hy isnt anyone complaining about him being anti allah? anti yahweh? anti krishna? this is one of the things he meant in his song- people only think of their own religion.

Besides, im 14 like it seems like all the rest of you are.

John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics 18 years ago
Let me just say this.

IMAGINE.

Not necessarily make a reality. Not fight about what we think about what he said.

Just
IMAGINE it.

Visualize it.
But Visualize isnt quite as catchy of a name.

John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics 18 years ago
Little_englander, I can hardly keep my mouth shut! I know the article I am writing about is from 2002 or 3 or something, but i do not care! really, I dont think Lennon cared much for possessions after he met Yoko- she and Sean were basically his life- HE FUCKING STAYED HOME- REFRAINED FROM HIS MUSIC, JUST TO CARE FOR SEAN WHILE HE WAS A BABY.... HOW MANY FAMOUS GUYS- OR JUST ANY GUYS AT ALL THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO DO THAT?!

And, look what Chapman got- 20 years in prison. SEVERAL PEOPLE COMMITTED SUICIDE BECAUSE JOHN WAS SHOT AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE APOCALYPSE BECAUSE HE WAS, INDEED, THE LAST GREAT PACIFIST OF OUR TIME (unless you want to include Jimmy Carter). Sean and Julian had no father after December 8, 1980. Not that John was a great father to Julian, but still- he never got to try after that day! Yoko lost the love of her life- sure i know she was married several times, but what other husbands do you hear about her HONESTLY staying with for reasons other than just they produce her art and music?! Paul never got to say Im sorry for being an ass to your wife, So many things could have happened that didnt, and so many things that did happen might have been prevented. And YoungAndDesperate, i like the song for the message, not because it was number 1 on the charts or whatever. If you would have pulled the trigger, well then, why didnt you? and if you either werent born, or were too young to even know who Lennon was, then why dont you go out and shoot, say, Jack Johnson? He sings about the same kind of stuff. The media, relationships, peace....

I think this is a wonderful song to listen to with the volume turned up- it seems to become a part of you.... it seems to flow in through you and stay in your heart. And if anyone else sang it, It wouldnt be as good. A harsh voice like Lennons, and a beautiful melody- seem like two opposites, but really they balance each other out and harmonize. Another thing i think everyones stuck on is that I thinkeveryone is stuck on the no possessions, no countries, no religions.... all that stuff

I dont think John meant it literally, but i think he meant, dont have it be the focus of your life. And dont try to impress your opinion on people and make them change.

And honestly, John was a pacifist in his later years, but in his earlier years, he would abuse his wife (cynthia), or at least i think i remember reading that in a BIOGRAPHY ( not an internet site that could have questionable information).

So, do please get your facts straight before you post a message.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Jack Johnson – Cookie Jar Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with jack- it really is kinda embarrassing to watch the news, and think" okay the only things i ever see on tv is someone dying because of someone else, everyones a hypocrit" and then thinking.... im part of this race and im doing it too, so i cant criticize others.
Basically the kid kills someone because life is getting to him and he thinks this will help. Well then he says oh no its not me- it couldnt be- people dont kill people when theyre this young. Well then the dad says, ok it wasnt my fault because i didnt teach it to him- it must have been the stuff on tv. so everyone blames everyone else when really it was their own damn fault. Its kind of like the butterfly effect. Everything affects another. Heck, because im typing this, there might be a massacre next week, or maybe someone will fall in love, or maybe life will be exactly the same. Who knows?

Jack Johnson – Taylor Lyrics 18 years ago
One of the reasons i like this song, whichever way you take it to mean it, its not about a fantasy of drugs, sex, or prostitution, but its what really happens when you mess up really big. No ones making it okay, and i like that, because it seems like everyone writes about a fantasy, not reality, and if it is reality, then its a romanticized version of reality. Jack does this with all his songs.... either a relationship that doesnt involve much, just two people and their music, or a great song about how the media and drugs are affecting the world.... all wrapped up into a tasteful song! The only other person i know that did that is John Lennon.... and we wont be hearing much more from him sadly

The Beatles – All My Loving Lyrics 18 years ago
This song always makes me think of my bf, not necessarily because of the distance, but because of that we basically know the other is going to love them no matter what.

There is a legend, whether it is true or not, that when John died in the hospital, this song came over the radio.

Eagles – The Last Resort Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about, like everyone said, the destruction of the natural beauty of the country, but i think it also has a somewhat anti-Christian meaning also. Personally, I think Christians are trying to take over the world, and i know thats part of the religion- to spread it around, but it destroys other cultures, and when people complain about them seeming to take over the world, then they try to take it over more.

Okay, could anyone guess im not christian? But for me it has a somewhat anti christian meaning.... i love this song(but not necessarily for that reason only)

I am not sure if this is true, but on some website i saw that Ringo said they wrote the song for him to sing, since it was low with a small range and very easy to sing, because Ringo wasnt the best singer. I love this song. I love at the beginning in Let It Be where I think its John (?) sings a short parody of the song:
Sweet Loretta fart
She thought she was a cleaner
But she was a frying pan

Im not sure why i like that so much- maybe its just because Its not really expected there.
