Broken Social Scene – Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Great song this, one of Broken Social Scene's finest, if not their best. Catchy as hell. |
Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
That's good. Now spread the word to your peers. |
Panic! at the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anyone who likes this doesn't deserve the ability to hear. Hearing is privilege, not a right. |
Simple Plan – Untitled Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song makes me want to go and and kick the shit out of the first emo-kid I see. "Eh! You like self-harming eh! I'll give you a few fucking scars you middle-class tosspot!" |
Can – Halleluhwah Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Are the lyrics correct? I always assumed at the ended he was shouting 'halelelelelelelelelelela-leleleleleluwah'. Hence the song title. |
Can – Oh Yeah Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is superb. Cool as hell. |
Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song sucks. I had the displeasure of hearing of hearing this the other day and momentarily wished I was deaf. If you're 15 years old and you like this, I'll let you off. In time you'll realise the error of your ways. However, if you're over 20 and listen to this, you need to go and take a good long look in the mirror and try and determine at which point you started failing at life. |
Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is gay |
Pulp – Wickerman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The Wicker is a small district of Sheffield in the city centre, which explains the title, although it isn't obvious to people who aren't familiar with the city. Great song, my favourite by Pulp. |
The Circulatory System – joy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Gorgeous little pop song. Probably my favourite on the album. |
Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is about the first gulf war. |
James Blunt – You're Beautiful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This a very beautiful and lyrically complex song, with extensive use of metaphorical imagery. The song is actually about Harry Truman and Hiroshima. "My life is brilliant My love is pure I saw an angel Of that I'm sure She smiled at me on the subway She was with another man But I won't lose no sleep on that Cause I have got a plan" This first verse is directly from the perspective of Truman. The first two lines refer to the fact that he's delighted about become President of US, hence why his life is brilliant. However, his new-found delight is soon changed. Truman had a Japanese schoolgirl fettish, and this is what the rest of the verse deals with. He's aggrieveed that he is not the one in the pornographic video, and wishes he was in place of the other guy who she is starring with. Because he is President, he can never be with her. So he makes a plan - to drop a bomb on Hiroshima to get rid of her, so nobody can have her. The rest of the song is from the perspective of the pilot who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. The chours "you're beautiful" is the pilot observing the mushroom cloud, which shows Blunt's sense of irony. The "face" being reffered to here is Hiroshima, as it is just a dot on the landscape of Japan. The second verse is the pilot thinking about a girl in Hiroshima who is about to be killed. The lyrics are self-explaintory here. I would like to thank James Blunt for writing this beautiful, moving and sensetive song. It's absout time a brave songqriter tackled such issues that others are afraid to write about. Bravo Jim. |
British Sea Power – Be Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Heheheh, yeah. Lovely song though. Great to drive around the countryside to on a summers day. |
Slint – Don, Aman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sounds very much like Don has social anxiety. I used to have it, and still do to an extent. This song manages to pin it down quite well. |
British Sea Power – Apologies to Insect Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Fantastic song. The last part of the song, which isn't included on here due to the lyrics being incomprehensible, goes like this; Apologies to insect life What I did was not very nice A little piece of everyone Is bad and can't be jettisoned And round from her from me to you Sometimes you know it goes right through My love |
The Olivia Tremor Control – I Have Been Floated Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Superb song. I'm guessing it's about dreams, or something along those lines (given the general theme of Black Foliege). |
Okkervil River – So Come Back, I Am Waiting Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree. Probably my favourite on the album. Not entirely certain on it's meaning. I've read that it's about child abduction, which seems to be a recurring theme with Black Sheep Boy. It could also be seen as a sort of love song, or maybe both. I love the final few lines. |
Radiohead – Lift Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Great song. Probably my favourite out of the unrecorded bunch. It's about a guy (Thom? seeing as adresses himself), who's likening an ordeal about being stuck in a lift to being distant, alienated and serious about life. At the end of the song, he tells himself that today will be the first day of the rest of his days, making a new start, and lightening up in the future. I guess the lift symbolises being trapped out from society. |
