Cold War Kids – Hospital Beds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Two terminally ill patients making a friendship by being in the same hospital room. Or maybe the reference to Vietnam is that they're dieing after being in battle, but I doubt that. |
Cold War Kids – Passing the Hat Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Taking the money from the church "offering plate", or whatever they call it in the Catholic chucrh. For what reasons I'm not sure...he may have done it as a child, he may be doing it because he believes he can give it to a more worthy cause, or maybe he's just an asshole stealing from the church? |
Cold War Kids – Tell Me in the Morning Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. But I do believe he's "shouting questions like a FIST FIGHT", not a "fierce fire". |
Angels and Airwaves – Star of Bethlehem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the more and more i hear these guys, the more and more they sound like The Joshua Tree. |
My Morning Jacket – Off the Record Lyrics | 18 years ago |
A reference to the media, perhaps? Suppose they're taking his words and playing with them? Although they're not a very big band, so its likely the newspapers wouldn't sell if he said anything controversial. The last half of the song kind of eludes to recordings being played with to have you believe that you're hearing something when you're actually not, like a "Paul is dead" sort of thing. |
Beulah – Gene Autry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
LPU---You dummy, Gene Autry died in 1998. Your mayor is not the same guy. Autry was the singing cowboy and also starred in a lot of westerns. |
Queens of the Stone Age – Quick And To The Pointless Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't know if its so much "child molester" undertones as much as it is about wanting to screw a 16-18 year old. And although you could argue the leaglity/morality of that, its a pretty basic instinct for any straight male. |
Travis – The Beautiful Occupation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anachronism: I think most of us are well aware of the Rwandan genocide, and if that's the basis for this song then explain the following. "don't need an invitation to drop in upon a nation" The Rwandan genocide was an interal conflict started by the national government of Rwanda, there was no outside nation dropping in without an invitation. |
My Morning Jacket – One Big Holiday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"was a bad man from california tellin' of a stone he'd bring and of better days from this town, we'd escape if we holler loud & make our way we'd all live one big holiday" I interpret this to mean a record producer is promising them big money, or "stone" and better days for "hollering and making our way" recording an album, and one big holiday to mean they'd be rich blah blah blah. My 2 cents anyways but I'm probably off. |
