Weezer – You Gave Your Love To Me Softly Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Nope, it's Bijan. Quoting Cuomo himself, "I have a big thing for old lady perfume (on young ladies)." |
Tsar – Girl Who Wouldn't Die Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Girl breaks up with a guy, guy can't get her out of his head and tries to keep talking to her, girl denies the relationship ever existed, guy moves on from this horrible experience very hurt and shunned, but hopeful that love still exists out there. Great, GREAT song. Heard it on FreakyLinks! :D |
SR-71 – Fame (What She's Wanting) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I always took this as a slap in the face to whoever the girl is. This girl gets lucky, ditches her "loser" boyfriend (probably the singer of the band), and becomes loved by everyone. |
The The – This Is the Day Lyrics | 13 years ago |
What's interesting about this song is that it's written from an outsiders perspective, so there are many ways to go about it. In my personal experience with this song, it's told me more about people who have left me to go on and do better things, but are secretly nostalgic about the time we used to spend time together. Makes a great ending track on a mix tape. Also, it closes Empire Records. |
Weezer – Where's My Sex? Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Upon further listening, there's actually a bit of metaphor here. Taking the original idea, replacing socks with sex, and our constant need and expectation for comfort, this is actually a pretty interesting song. |
Weezer – Where's My Sex? Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Um, yeah, Weezer has a lost song called "I Will Poop On Their Car Seats", I highly doubt this is the dumbest they've gotten, and that's from the Blue era. Rivers is a showing his talents as a class clown here. It's a bit juvenile, but at the same time, it's sort of what I like about Weezer, there's a sense of being young on a lot of their songs. The worst song on Hurley for sure, but an enjoyable mess. |
The Presidents of the United States of America – Peaches Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The song is about eating peaches in the country. Anyone who over analyzes this song is out of their mind and probably hasn't listened to the album it's off. |
Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Most defiantly an anit-war song. To be completely honest, not my favorite track on the new album. Green Day hasn't really made an incredible ballad since Good Riddance. I think they should just stick the the super fast pop punk. That being said, it's not too bad. Also, the solo sounds like the Full House theme. |
The Magnetic Fields – The Book of Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Anyone complaining about Peter Gabriel's cover should be ashamed. If Merritt's music wasn't written to be covered by other artists, then how do you explain The 6ths? Also, keep in mind, Gabriel's version is a tribute from a legend to an indie band. I'm sure Merritt was flattered like any artist would be. It's not to say that Stephin isn't a legend in his own right, but Peter Gabriel has made some of the most beautiful unconventional music in the past 30 years. Washing of the Water being my favorite. Both versions are beautiful. The bareness of the MF's version is amazing, while the production and voice on Gabriel's is incredible. It's a sad trend to see obsessive fanboys and girls bash something as beautiful as a thoughtful tribute. |
Fountains of Wayne – Joe Rey Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Joe Reys are usually found in college. Completely obnoxious and pretensious, they use a knowledge of foreign films that ususally suck to get friends. Ususally loved by the valley and tomboy girls geeks strive to go out with every day. Been there and it's very frustrating. Chris, Adam, Brian, and Jody you kick ass. |
Pixies – Alec Eiffel Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is incredible. The comparisons with the Pixies to Eiffel are also incredibly accurate. Though, I don't think they ever anticipated fame or the rapid cult following. One thing I'm surprised people haven't brought up is the video for this. Holy shit, it's awesome! The wind tunnel, the bright flashy clothes, and Joey's face getting wrapped around in smoke? Amazing. The whole thing looks like a 90s issue of X-Men or Generation X. |

Matthew Sweet – Divine Intervention Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ah, my bad. Matthew dosn't believe in God "in the old sense" he believes in nature. |
Matthew Sweet – Divine Intervention Lyrics | 16 years ago |
*Lines in question* And every night I bow to pray But I'll feel a whole lot better Once you're coming my way |
Matthew Sweet – Divine Intervention Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Not that I disagree wit you musicgenius, but how do you know Matthew is an Atheist? I don't think Matt would poke fun at someone else's religion. Also, there are lines in Evangeline that make me believe Mr. Sweet believes in something. Whether or not it's God, I don't know. |

Matthew Sweet – Girlfriend Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's funny how getting divorced can effect your mind. Matthew seems to have regressed to the mind of a 17 year old here and sometimes, that's not a bad thing. The loneliness of a love shattered can sometimes bring up the spice of youth. Matthew was about 25 when this song was released, but in my mind, he felt like he was 17 again. He was destroyed, yet free and looking. I've been there Matt, I've been there. |
Fountains of Wayne – Mexican Wine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is Radation Vibe for the 2000's. It has no meaning, but is still awesome. |
Prince – 7 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's either about two things. 1. Defeating the 7 deadly sins to be completely happy. 2. Getting through all 7 days of the week to be with the one you love |
Fountains of Wayne – I've Got A Flair Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Love this song, it's about someone you love and hate at the same time. |
Tevin Campbell – Stand out Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh come on! This is Tevin's greatest song right here! Bring on the comments! Tell me this song hasn't inspored you to talk to a girl |
The Harlots – Alien Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song was in Phil the Alien! That movie rocked. What a great song. It's about ot fitting in... |
They Might Be Giants – Richards on Richards Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Without a doubt, the best Venue Song. This could be a stand alone single if they wanted it to be |
Peter Gabriel – In Your Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song + boombox over the head = chick magnet |
They Might Be Giants – Don't Let's Start Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's about whiny teens to me Don't don't don't let's start This is the worst part Could believe for all the world That you're my precious little girl But don't don't don't let's start I've got a weak heart And I don't get around how you get around Guy needsa girl friend and dosn't see how his freinds gt around not having one... When you are alone you are the cat, you are the phone You are an animal The words I'm singing now Mean nothing more than meow to an animal Wake up and smell the cat food in your bank account But don't try to stop the tail that wags the hound This means two things. First, you think you're cool when you're alone. When you do this no one knows. THe reality is that you needa a job and something to support yourself on. D, world destruction Over and overture N, do I need Apostrophe T, need this torture? Teens wanting to rule the world in their perfect vision and the John's being tired of it. No one in the world ever gets what they want and that is beautiful Everybody dies frustrated and sad and that is beautiful They want what they're not and I wish they would stop saying, Deputy dog dog a ding dang depadepa Deputy dog dog a ding dang depadepa The next two verses are what the teens are always saying what goths usually write in they're notebooks. Then the Deputy Dog is like the blah blah blah for valley kids. I don't want to live in this world anymore I don't want to live in this world The view point of kids everywhere... and that's my meaning and I'm sticking to it. |
