Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics | 10 years ago |
The Wikipedia article for Holland 1945 refers to an article where the Dark Brother mentioned in that song (and in the liner notes) is a family friend of Mangum's who committed suicide. I think that's who the brother in the fourth stanza is, the one that leaves with his head filed with flames. Brains falling out through teeth could be a reference to a self-inflicted gunshot, and "don't you take this away, I'm still wanting..." could be a reference to Mangum's sense of loss. |
DIIV – Doused Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"it's yours to commit it" should be "it's yours to commit to it" Not a big change, but rhymes better with "blew it" |
Why? – By Torpedo or Crohn's Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"living in the tear between two spaces condemned" Unless this is from the lyric sheet or something, I think it should be "living in the TIER" |
Modest Mouse – Whenever I Breathe Out, You Breathe In (Positive/Negative) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The lyrics say "Whenever I speak out, you're speaking out", but it should be "Whenever I speak out, you take it all in" |
Twin Shadow – Castles in the Snow Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think you're close, but here's my interpretation... "Everything i see looks like gold" He wants everything he sees, everything he can't have "Everything I touch goes cold" Once he has it ('knows' it, so to speak), he loses the feeling he had. "Castles in the Snow" seems like it sums up his message. He sees the castle and it looks so awesome; he wants it so badly, but once he gets there, it's not as appealing as he had hoped, so he looks for his next conquest. |
Tune-Yards – Killa Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Your bridge is perfect with a few spelling corrections. Would you call me naive and an idealist if I told you I am disheartened that in this day and age I do not Have more male black friends? I cannot take it I'm so hip. I'm hip like a yuppie is hip, Confident and yipping at the heels of my yuppie forefathers. I tried to write a song in your style! To try to steal the lessons of the '80s is to steal the foam off the rabies. CAN YOU SEE THE FEAR IN THE BACK OF MY THROAT Once you've judged me yourself let my teeth take a vote |
Modest Mouse – Convenient Parking Lyrics | 13 years ago |
One time, on the Fourth of July, I was tripping and walking to the community park, where there was a bunch of shit going on. I was listening to this song and watching everyone converge onto the bike paths heading to the park. As I got closer to the park, the paths got bigger and more direct, and they were filled with more and more people. It was really surreal, watching the flow of people, everyone going to the same place. "A chain reaction started in the parking lot, waiting to bleed out onto the big streets that bleed out onto the highways" felt very, very appropriate. |
