Ween – Right To The Ways And The Rules Of The World Lyrics | 15 years ago |
people following religion because their parents told them to |
Modest Mouse – Interstate 8 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
or since that didn't make sense to even me: the girl he thinks all the hateful stuff about is an ex who he's trying to get back together with even though he knows the same thing will just happen all over again, thinks all that hateful stuff, then tries to keep things kosher with a kind "How have you been?" |
Modest Mouse – Interstate 8 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Alright I don't know if it's been said but the general idea is that this certain person's life is the same over and over again, and the woman (I'm guessing) is the example, where he meets her and thinks all that hateful stuff then kindly says "How have you been?" |
The White Stripes – Icky Thump Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Jack said this album would be great for fans of their first album, so he might be revisiting the political theme to an extent to show that (since The Big Three Killed My Baby was the last political song they did) |
They Might Be Giants – Museum of Idiots Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yep, I also take it like Guy likes the way things are, girlfriend wants to change, they break up, he stays in hopes of her coming back. |
They Might Be Giants – Bastard Wants To Hit Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Rather than the "crazy bastard" trying to hit him, I think he's probably just sitting near his car and the narrator is paranoid about whether or not the guy is actually wanting to hurt him. He doesn't know the guy, and for all we know the guy is waving to be friendly. Just a paranoid dude. |
They Might Be Giants – Prevenge Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Can you tell that I'm planning prevenge? Read my mind, yes, I'm planning prevenge At the freak show In the front row Mi amigo lost in the sound" A guy goes to a concert with a friend, his friend goes in first, he gets left behind likely because he's either underage or doesn't have a ticket, he can't get a hold of his friend because his friend can't hear him over the sound of the concert. "Now you know that the girls are just making it up Now you know that the boys are just pushing their luck Now you know that my ride doesn't really exist And my name's not really on that list" The girls get in easily because the ticket checkers are likely male. The boys line makes sense in the next verse, I have no idea about the ride, maybe his friend isn't actually there but he's trying to get in anyway by lying. His name isn't on the list of people to let in. "Fully moto On the headfo Rock the info The micro-type king" I have no idea I also have no idea about the Pupkin part "Tired of waiting Tired of watching Negotiating Parading around" He's tried everything and still sticks around either waiting for his friend or waiting in hopes of the guards softening up So, summary: Guy goes to a concert, is pissed that he can't get in, is already planning a way to get back at his friend for leaving him behind. |
Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
So what I gather is: Brother is a troublemaker that no one likes Parents send him away, he's mad at them He comes back, dad gets mad, dad kills him, police show up, the neighbors rejoice. |
Modest Mouse – Convenient Parking Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This may seem a bit silly, but this song could be modeled after the movie Fargo. In the movie William H. Macy is a car salesman and organizes the kidnapping of his wife just to get some money but everything keeps spiraling downward and downward. The whole "waiting to bleed onto big streets that bleed out on the highways" makes me think of the scene where they get pulled over by the cop and three lives are lost. Also the fact that the two kidnappers go to a few different cities. The line "Well aren't you feeling real dirty Sitting in your car with nothing" reminds me of William H.Macy's character ultimately ending up with nothing and also Gaear riding in the back of the cop car and all he gets to do in the end is either get the death sentence or thrown in jail the rest of his life. I don't believe the movie and the song truly have anything in common, it's just neat how they relate to each other. |
The White Stripes – Who's a Big Baby? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I quite like it The stuff on their singles is a lot more experimental than the stuff on the albums It's catchy |
The White Stripes – Why Can't You Be Nicer To Me? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the last verse is the only suicidal one, and I think the line "well the wind is blowing, where am I going?" refers to the lifelong question about whether you go to hell or heaven when you commit suicide. |
The White Stripes – I Fought Piranhas Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Second verse is the only one I see as talking about Christ. |
Weird Al Yankovic – You Don't Love Me Anymore Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Video of this kicks major ass. |
The White Stripes – The Air Near My Fingers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
also, DangerousBagel's interpretation makes the most sense... |
The White Stripes – The Air Near My Fingers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sinning as in being a sloth. |
The White Stripes – Walking with a Ghost (Tegan and Sara cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Doesn't sound like any of the other songs they've ever done, and I don't know what it means. @_@ |
Weird Al Yankovic – Bohemian Polka Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Starfish/whoever you are. You're fifteen. Chances are you don't even know anything about Queen beyond the point that Mercury had AIDS and they produced music, Bohemian Rhapsody being one of them. You probably also consider Boulevard of Broken Dreams a classic, along with anything by Nirvana or System of a Down (which, by the way, they let him do parodies, in fact, Nirvana loved it). Get off of my internet, you're making me flaccid. |
Mötley Crüe – Wild Side Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Great song nonetheless. |
Hawthorne Heights – Ohio Is for Lovers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hilarious song. Cracks me up every time. |
Soledad Brothers – Goin' back to Memphis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Just a simple song, really good though. |
Beastie Boys – Rhymin' and Stealin' Lyrics | 18 years ago |
They do that to show their roots aren't just rap, I believe. And this song is about being pirates, obviously, with the whole Blackbeard talk, parrots, pillaging, etc. |
Guns N' Roses – It's So Easy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Badass song. |
The White Stripes – Cannon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I believe the White Stripes are followers of Christianity (Catholic, I also assume), because Jack mentioned getting close to God in an interview for GBMS I heard. Also the fact that they mention God/Jesus/Holy Ghost quite a few times. |
The White Stripes – Do Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hm.. I think it's about Jack being fed up with some of the points of modern society, such as laziness, being too open minded, etc. And in the second verse his mother motivates him to get out with the line "My mother tried to pick me up cause I was sittin' down on the ground", meaning she didn't want him to keep his lazy ass, well, lazy. And in the first verse he's worried about not getting along with that stranger who comes up to him. Also: all the idols around nowadays make kids think from the point of view from said idols and the kids can't be original, hence there's nothing left to do. I'm either dead on or so far from the real meaning that it's worthless to consider. |
The White Stripes – I Fought Piranhas Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Doesn't remind me of Dazed and Confused whatsoever, one being they're nothing alike, the other being the White Stripes aren't Led Zeppelin. |
The White Stripes – Broken Bricks Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Obviously a run down or demolition area where the kids hang out at. |
The White Stripes – Little People Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Does it matter? It seems like the "little" songs take a simple idea and they make a song out of it, but make it feel like it has alot of meaning. I like this song. >_> |
The White Stripes – Little Acorns Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah they put a "little" song in every album. |
The White Stripes – Red Rain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
That's what I was thinking WeezDay, except I don't know if he killed him or not. He may have just beat the living hell out of him. ;) |
