A twenty-two is not a shotgun, but a rifle.

Harvey Danger – Pike St./Park Slope Lyrics 18 years ago
The way it was explained live is that it's about wanting to move to the big city in order to make it and then realizing the same crap is in the big city; it's just bigger.

The Decemberists – Shankill Butchers Lyrics 18 years ago
pumkinhed, I'm guessing the lyrics are quite dependent on the melody, somewhat like Of Angels and Angles. They're OK lyrics on their own but the combination is what makes the song so good.

Wings – Live and Let Die Lyrics 18 years ago
Is there decisive proof it's not "...ever changing world in which we're living"?

When I listen close I can't tell for sure. The lyric would actually be grammatically correct that way, and both it and the currently posted version make sense.

Also, GnR really butchered this song.

The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics 18 years ago
The Decemberists are from Portland. There is a bus mall in Portland, which is is where, on 5th Ave and 6th Ave between SW Jefferson St and NW Irving St, public transport runs constantly and for free. The male prostitutes in this song are not travelling, so much as whoring around by using the free part of the public transit system to get around.
